June Exercise Challenge - 54 Challengers and 40,537 minutes completed!!!

40 glorius minutes today. I kicked C25K's rear end today!
I started doing intervals 4 min run/1 min walk. It has made such a difference!! I talked about it on the run/walk thread a little but just to share here, my goal was to run an entire 5K and my legs had a different idea. I had to accept real quick that walking did not = quitting. Since I started walking intervals I have been able to go much further. I used both my C25K app and run keeper today. C25K said I did 3.4 miles in 38 minutes and RK said 2.85 mil in 38 minutes. My goal for the 5K Saturday is less than 45 minutes so I should have no trouble with that!

I'm a little behind on minutes for the month but I should make some up this week.

895/1600

Another 36 minutes of couch25k today!

New total 420/1000 getting there might not make it but ya never know!

OMG it has been a busy night at work. I got to be helper nurse, so that meant I did everything nobody else wanted to do. Give me my own assignment over this mess anyday. I have been busy busy busy so I am going to count 60 minutes of exercise even though I was on feet from 6:45 until 0200. I think that brings me to 705/900:woohoo: if my math is right. Though at 5:40 in the morning I am not so sure.

Hi everyone -

Great to see everyone so busy!

I've had two more boot camp sessions (F, M) for 120 minutes, a 30-minute run on Th, plus 80 minutes for six miles of brisk walking on Sat. New total:
740/1200. Glad to be over halfway, and almost at the 2/3s mark!

Oh, wow! I kind of forgot that I signed up for this month's exercise challenge. Life kind of got in the way, especially for two close friends. :( One friend had brain surgery and open heart surgery six weeks later. Quite the shocker since she is very active and a fitness instructor. Another friend had quadruple by-pass surgery and he's quite active as well, usually completing 5-6 marathons a year. Both are around 50 years of age (close to my age). You just never know what life can hand you. Thankfully, they are both doing really well and expected to make a full recovery.

As for me, I've been having foot issues off and on for over a year - plantar fasciitis. It's been going on for so long that I've developed other foot issues because of it. My ortho doc prescribed physical therapy (and drugs) to see if this will help. I can't do any running for the time being and I'm limiting my walking. So, therefore, I probably won't make my goal this month. Yes, I can do other things but I haven't been doing much except for wallowing in self-pity. :rolleyes1 Here's what I've accomplished so far this month:

6 - 1 hour walks (360 minutes)
2 bike rides at 3 hours (180 minutes)
2 cycling events at 6 hours (80 miles total) (360 minutes)

Total: 900 minutes so far. (Hmmmmm, more than I thought. Maybe I can reach my goal. :) )

great job, debbieandroo! Your 8 mile walks are awesome! I know how hard it is to not only carve out time for them but to actually do them!

I swam for 60 minutes and ran for 30 today.
New total: 930/1600

Thank you for saying that! I admit to being more than a little proud of myself with this - I am such a couch potato by nature. The walking doesn't seem to be my biggest challenge - it's the thinking beforehand, 'I have to walk two and a half hours, ugh.' Once I get going, I do enjoy it.

Then I get home and am fairly useless the rest of the day, although this last time, I was less useless than I have been.

It's really encouraging to post all of this with folks who 'get it.'

I know June is over half-way over but I really need to get my walking in and need some accountability.

I'd like to get 600 minutes of walking in before the end of the month. :goodvibes

Good luck to everyone trying to get their activity in :cool1:

:welcome: Glad to have you!!!! And, no, it's not too late at all.

Ran and walked 45 minutes yesterday and did a steep hike! I got 135 minutes more but I forgot what my previous total was... Oops!

Congratulations - you're at a whopping 655 minutes - woo hoo!

Whoa, what's up with that big of a discrepancy with those apps!? I would totally take the C2K's app mileage and then I would take a nap! Great work - good to know that the run/walk combination is working so well. Have a blast at the 5K this weekend - and we will want a full report!

Hey, even if you don't do the full 1000, those minutes were still spent doing something that challenged you and that is never a waste.

Welcome back, neighbor! You have had a lot of stuff put on your plate but it's good to know your friends are doing so well. Makes you wonder that their activity level is the reason they are recovering so quickly - one more reason to pull myself out of bed on those early mornings.

And, despite all of this, you're doing so well - good for you!

Hi, Challengers --

I've updated everyone so far. Lots of turquoise already and we're just barely half way through the month - good job!!!

I'll be out of town until the weekend and will catch up when I get back.

Have a great week!

So last week was BFS Week for me...that stands for Big Fat Slacker Week! I didn't do a lick of exercise, but I am after it this week for sure! Today I picked back up on my training and with running and stretching, I got another 40 minutes in. My numbers for the month are:

290/1200

I'm hoping to add to that tomorrow, by at least 20 and do some pilates at home. Hope to see you tomorrow!

Yay!! I got in 30 minutes today, and that is quite an accomplishment with the movers here!!

640/1000

Thanks!!
Lynda

6/18 60 mins bootcamp
6/19 30 mins trainer

Leaving tomorrow night to spend time with my Dsis. We're running a 5K on Thursday and going hiking at some point over the weekend. :)

Double taekwondo class tonight (first black belt class)

105 minutes for a total of

1077/1500

Ted

I went to the gym this morning to my hour long Ripped class (weights) and then had the opportunity to go back this evening to my hour long Werq class (which is really becoming my favorite class...it is so much fun. The hour goes by extremely quickly for me!) This brings me to 1440/1680. Keep moving everyone! :yay:

First run of my official Half Marathon training program this morning

4.6 miles in 55 minutes.

1132/1500 for the month

Ted

I've done 300 minutes since my last check-in. A lot of walking and running, I'll get to that half marathon some day.;) I'm going to Puerto Rico next week but I'll try to keep track of all my activity.

That brings me to 690/1000.

Today:
45 minutes personal training - weights & core
45 minutes elliptical
20 minutes walking

New total 1810/2000

Thank you, Debbie, for keeping track of all of us!

I haven't worked out since last Friday!!! I fell (while holding my 2 yr old grandson) and I've been so stiff and sore I haven't been able to work out. I'm going to my massotherapist today for a much needed deep tissue massage. She'll whip me back into shape and if I can walk tomorrow (lol) I'll head to the gym.

Good work everyone!
