June Birthday Dining Report, DDE, pics, etc! updated 9/10 page 7

World Showcase, alcohol, 6.11.09

....Ugh, then my alcoholic mistake of the trip. I went over to Italy to get my beloved Italian Margarita. Well. I asked for it and noticed it was really watery. Like, not frozen at all. So I was like, um, can I taste that please? Because I am used to it being frozen. So the guy put some ice in it for me, but really? Major disappointment! And they raised the price too! Not happy!

.....

Noooooooooo!:worried: I fell in love with the Italain Margarita on my last trip. It was so tart and tasty! Do you remember how much the raised they price too?

And I'm so sorry your camera broke! It's like losing a friend, especially on a solo trip when you can't borrow someone else's.

I tried the Peach Snap when we were there in May. I LOVED it!!! I could drink that over & over. I think I liked that better than the Grand Marnier Slushie. I never did get a chance to try the Grey Goose but next time!!

So a little background on the trip...

My BFF Aaron was supposed to join me on this birthday trip. But then he got sciatica. Oof, talk about bad timing! So anyway, on one of my previous trips, I brought him back this magnetic Goofy and stuck it on his locker at work. So for this trip, I took Goofy along with me, like he was in Aaron's place. So you may see Goofy showing up in some pictures. And well, that's why. Since Aaron couldn't be there, this was the best alternative I had ;)

Right. Food, well, and drinks. That's what you want to hear about! Well okay, so my plane landed at 10:30, and I was greeted by my Happy Limo driver. I don't remember his name, but his call number was 613. This I couldn't forget, since June 13 is my birthday! He ended up giving me his card, so I'm sure I have his name somewhere, but he was so nice! So we stopped at Albertson's for my grocery stop (where I picked up milk, bananas, pretzel nubs, and some other random stuff), and then he dropped me at the Swan.

Oh people, this place is awesome! I got it at the same price I would have been paying at POFQ, with my CM friends/family discount. So I couldn't pass it up. When I checked in, the guy tried to get me to move to the Dolphin. But well, I knew they had double beds (Swan has queen), and the Dolphin didn't have the fridges installed yet. He told me I'd get a "better room", then telling me that meant a view. View? Seriously? I've stayed at Pop for god knows how many trips, I don't care about view!!! Oh and so glad I stayed at the Swan and didn't switch.

Just so happened that my room was ready for me. So I headed up, plopped Goofy on the bed, grabbed a pic, then changed and headed out to begin the fun!!!
pic001.jpg

When I went out of the Swan, there was no boat, and no boat on its way, so I walked myself on over to MGM. Oh my goodness, was it ever hot!!! This is what I get for coming in June! Seriously, hotter than when I've been in August. Here's a couple pics I took on my walk over
pic003.jpg

pic004.jpg

pic005.jpg

And then, I finally arrived! I would have made my first stop the Tune In Lounge, but well, I saw on the tips board that Toy Story still had Fast Passes left...so I hightailed it over there, got me a FP (which wasn't good til 7:55-8:55...good thing I was spending the day!!), and then made my way to my favorite place....

Just out of curiosity, what kind of rate did you get at Swan?
I am going to try some of those drinks in Sept. But if I had that many, I wouldn't be able to get back to my room!!!:lmao: I am such a lightweight!

How exciting that you got picked! That's fantastic.

All the pics of the views from the Boardwalk area make me really want to stay at one of the resorts over there one of these days. I just love that area so much!

oh yes, it was so awesome! couldn't have asked for a better location! got me a bit spoiled though...pop century in october is gonna be tough lol!

Ok so now I know you can save the $3 and get the Welsh Dragon in a regular cup...I had no idea, I was just way to excited to try it...but I think if they still have the special cups in Oct I will get them because they are great around the pool and Todd and I are constantly fighting over the one I have!

What I wouldnt do for a GG Slushie right now, or a Welsh Dragon, Picnic Punch, Peach Snap...whatever it is I want it!

You are so cute with the fiddle dude!

How great for you to get picked! And, what a nice guy to take pics for you. Kimonos, dinner, 6.11.09

So I don't even know what time I got back to the hotel. But at least I had caught the boat, so I didn't have to walk. Thank goodness! Cuz believe you me, I did plenty of walking on this trip!

Anyway, I got back to the Swan, and I felt like sushi was the right idea. So I went into Kimonos, and got a seat at the bar. So of course, I had to order a drink. They had about 7 drinks on their specialty drink menu, one of which interested me. Pretty sure it was called a Pitcher of Strawberry Lemonade, or something like that. I know it involved muddled strawberries, and of course, alcohol. I wasn't sure of my surroundings yet, so I was afraid to turn on the flash. So here is the drink. Quite large, er, I guess when you order a "pitcher" you should expect large!
pic396.jpg

And here with Goofy/Aaron along for the ride!
pic397.jpg

Oh yes, and since the strawberries were muddles, I kept getting pieces of strawberry up my straw. So good!!!

So here is my place setting.
pic398.jpg

pic399.jpg

I ordered a tempura appy and a shrimp tempura roll. Here's the tempura. I'm pretty sure it was shrimp and veggies with a dipping sauce. So good! Who knows, maybe I was hungry, but this hit the spot!
pic400.jpg

Oh geez, and while I was eating, there was some horrendous karaoke going on in the background. I kinda just wanted to be done and get out of there and go to sleep! But I was hungry, so I had to eat!

Anyway, so I also got the shrimp tempura roll. It was spicy! I'm used to it coming with cucumber or something wrapped along with it, but this was just spicy shrimp tempura! Now, I am not a huge fan of spicy, but this was still pretty good :thumbsup2 flash...
pic401.jpg

and no flash...
pic402.jpg

Twas a nice end to an awesome first day!!! But at this point I was so tired, I just wanted my check and to head up to bed. But I must admit, was very nice having "real food" just an elevator ride away. Yup Yup, good stuff.

next up: lunch @Columbia Harbour House

Got a ? for ya...when are you going back? Any chance it will be around Oct 22-Nov 1?

Great update Marsh!!! I am taking Drink notes for Judy for September !! I definately plan to tell them about David at DHS!! That Pirates Punch maybe be their first Marcia recommendation!!!:lmao:

I've been reading lots of great things about Kimonos lately, might need to try and squeeze it in during our October trip!;)

Wow you got a great rate at $119. I asked becasue we will be staying at the Swan/Dolphin for a few days next July for Irish Dance Nationals. I am hoping to get a good rate.

Love reading your reviews, by the way.

Columbia Harbour House, lunch, 6.12.09

The next morning, I used the bus stop to get to the Magic Kingdom. As I waited, here was my in room brewed coffee and picked up at grocery stop banana. Oh, and Goofy/Aaron too
pic001.jpg

The hoards of people behind me as we waited to be let in!
pic002.jpg

I got a lot done that morning, starting in Fantasyland with Dumbo! Got on the first ride of the day
pic033.jpg

pic035.jpg

Pretty sure I also did Splash, Big Thunder, Haunted Mansion, Pirates, Snow White, Buzz, Pooh, Jungle Cruise, Peter Pan, oh who knows, just lots and lots and pretty much everything I wanted to do. Then it was time for lunch at Columbia Harbour House. I got my standard Lighthouse Sandwich. I asked for apple slices instead of fries, and when looking at my receipt, realized I could have just gotten the sandwich by itself for cheaper. Oh well. Oh, and she gave me a free chocolate chip cookie for my birthday!
pic069.jpg

Close up of the sandwich, so good, love this thing!
pic070.jpg

On my way out of the park, the Move it, Shake it, Celebrate it Parade was going on. Here's a taste of that
pic085.jpg

Then it was nap time. Go to the bus stop at 1pm, and was on my way to sleepy time not long after.

next up: drinks in Epcot

I love CHH! Great review. It's such an interesting and different CS food choice. And the Goofy/Aaron thing is super cute and funny. I'm in the process of trying to figure out what my trip mascot will be, since I'm going solo again.
