Welcome to the 3 Day Disney Dream Bahamian Cruise Meet Thread

June 5-8, 2014

Are you going? Come join our thread and post your thoughts and ideas!

We are aboard....or will be June 5, 2014. My name is Jen and I will be sailing with Clint (DH) and Emma (DD). Emma will celebrate her 12th birthday on the ship. This will be our first DCL cruise. My DH and I have cruised Alaska on Princess. We are beginning our trip on the Disney Dream and follow up the cruise with 5 days at WDW.

So glad to come home and read this post and meet some fellow cruisers! :wave2:

We have a large group (12) going, and thankfully we have all been blessed to have cruised before, but we are already getting pumped for this trip! Are you and your family going to add days on before or after for WDW?

Our family will also be on board! There are 7 so far in our immediate family attending (4 adults, 3 children ages 4, 10,11), but multiple more possibly joining as the date nears.

Looking forward to seeing and meeting everyone.

I'm new here, but was reading about the FE exchange. Is anyone interested in participating?

We'll be there! We are cruising with our grandkids and several family members. I am such a Disney/Mickey Mouse fan; I can't wait!

Doing WDW before the cruise...

YAY! My son will turn 5 in September, so already knowing some little ones that will be on there will be fabulous! RubysMommy, we would definitely be interested!

From all of the things I have seen thus far, I am already kicking myself for not booking a longer cruise!

We'd love to get acquainted before the cruise, MsSaraTurner! I don't know about you, but our little one will be turning 5 that July, but is slow to warm up to people (kids included) so it'd be great if she knew someone her age before the trip. I've been going back and forth about the whole kids club thing, as I can just imagine dropping her off, getting back to my room, and then getting a call to come get her because she's "homesick" or something of the like. I agree with the longer trip, but from what I've read, Nassau isn't that fantastic, so we'll likely walk around quickly then head back on board to explore the ship.

Well my son is kind of the opposite, as he is terribly friendly, and very kind to everyone (THANKFULLY!). We certainly can't do "play dates" before we leave, but maybe "Skype dates" and they can introduce themselves! :)

I have cruised a dozen or more times, never on Disney, and have been to Nassau several times. I can already say, without reservation, that my son and I will not be getting off the boat that day or won't be off long- even as the rest of our extended family will. It is pretty in some spots, Atlantis is cool (on Freeport), and some of the restaurants are good; HOWEVER, it is largely a shopping mecca, and since I can't possibly need any more "stuff" and it's likely to be a headache w/ a 5 year old, my son (Jack) and I will remain on board take advantage of the water slide, pools, etc. being so wide open.

I am excited to already see so many people that are going to be on our ship. I think the worse part is that it is still so darn far away!

Hey Sara,

We are adding days at WDW after the cruise, but we are staying offsite at Windsor Hills. We stayed at Windsor Hills during our last visit to WDW in 2009 and REALLY liked it.

This will be our first Disney cruise and we are getting pumped up too. We booked this sailing as soon as the window opened last fall, so we are excited to be less than a year out finally.

Hello to all who have joined the roll since I last checked in! I hope we will have an active roll as we plan our individual trips.

This will be our first visit to Nassau, so I am researching the port. We like to explore new places so we are interested in visiting some of the sights like Queen's Staircase, Parliament Building and the Forts. I found a detailed walking tour online that includes pictures and is easy to follow. Is this something that we can do safely on our own? We are also considering a day pass to use the private beach at the Hilton.

Please share your thoughts on Nassau excursions. I'm reading a lot of mixed reviews.

Jen5064,

I'd love to get this thread listed on the MEETS page, but I'm a newbie and don't have enough posts yet to do links. Since you've posted more than 10 times, would you mind requesting they add our this Dream 6/5/14 cruise thread to the list? disboards.com/showthread.php?t=3029314

Hopefully we'll get more people in our group!

So excited about WDW too, haven't been there in FOREVER! Doing a few days before the cruise. Impatiently waiting for next year! :goofy:

forgot to mention that I started a Meet / FE board on FB if anyone on this cruise is interested. facebook.com/groups/192530054238275/

Hoping more people will join as we near the cruise date

I'll request the link...good idea. And, I will join the FB group. I'm kind of on the fence about joining a FE group. It does look like a lot of fun.

Thanks, Jen, for posting the link and joining the FB thread. I completely understand about being hesitant about the FE group. I hope more people are interested but that it doesn't get out of control and too big, especially since this is our first cruise with Disney. From reading other FE threads, it seems you can always back out of participating if the group gets too large. I think that may be my back up plan. ;)

I have added your thread to the cruise meet list :beach:
Have a great cruise!

Hey Jen. Thanks for the Windsor Hills tip! I think we are looking to stay off property too, but we really haven't made up our minds as to where, how far out, etc. There is so much information to read, sift through, and then book- it seems never ending!

Jen & Ruby, just checking in for the first time in a long time, and it was good to see that I am not the only person that seems to be getting Disney fever! I would expect to see more people popping in as the departure nears, and am hoping it's because they aren't maybe as detailed oriented (okay in my case obsessed) we we are. :)

I will definitely head over to the FB page, join, and then recommend it to people in our group as well. Hope your summers and trip planning are going well!

Well, I thought I would drop in to let you know that we have cancelled our reservation. Our daughter has been selected to play on an ASA softball team. She will be playing in softball tournaments throughout the northwest March-July.

We know that you will have a magical trip and wish you all bon voyage!
