Ok, we just booked this cruise (and the June 8...back to back..woohoo!) and I didn't see a thread out here yet so figured I would start one and get it on the list of meet threads. Hope some others out there are going to be joining us!

Hi! :wave2:

We'll be celebrating our 10th anniversary with our first trip on DCL! We are SO excited and overwhelmed at the same time! We've gone to WDW almost every year since we got married in 2000, but DCL is something new to us and it's a lot of info to take in! This will be my DH and son's first cruise ever. I went on a cruise in high school, but it was on the Big Red Boat so that probably doesn't even count! LOL!

Allison
Ryan
Colin. He'll be one month shy of 7 for the cruise.

Congrats and welcome aboard! Let us know if you have any questions. We've been on a few cruises and have done a ton of research. It looks like we may have some days prior to this cruise to spend at WDW. Just got Hannah's school calendar for next year and they are going to end the Friday before Memorial day. We may be able to make this into a 2 week vacation!

Welcome aboard! Can't believe this cruise is so far away. :)

Hi FFA_Mom! Welcome to the DIS. :)

We spent 8 nights at AKL for Thanksgiving and absolutely LOVED it! What a great way to make the time before the cruise go faster!

Just posting to subscribe. I'm owensjro's better half. :) I'm looking forward to seeing the Wonder again!

Amanda

Thanks for all the welcome's. I've been a lurker on the boards for about 3 years just never posted. I thought I would join in this time.:thumbsup2
We are DVC members and looking foward to our 1st stay at AKL and we are also taking some 1st time Disney family members with us. This will be exciting :woohoo: Yesterday I spent some time looking at the DCL picture of the day thread. I don't know if I can wait that long. Last time I booked 12 months out and I thought that was a long wait! Last time we cruised in a Cat 8 or 9 (we had a large porthole) this was our 1st curise. This time we have a Cat 6. Anyone stayed in a cat 6. My husband was wondering how big the verandah really is?

This is our first cruise, so I can't answer your question, but we are also staying in Cat 6. :)

That's great! Maybe when the cruise is closer the girls can exchange some letters or something. Hannah would love to have a friend on the ship :)

Haven't booked yet, but we're planning on this cruise also! It will be our first cruise EVER for me, Misty; DH, Rodney; and DD, Cailyn (8 when we go).

Here's the main reason I haven't booked yet - we're planning on doing 3 (maybe 4) days at WDW before the cruise.

Does anyone have thoughts on whether it's better to book land/sea together (will have to wait for 2010 pkg prices if so) or to book the cruise now (more room choice, can start paying immediately) and just add my own "land pkg" for the 3-4 days (will still have to wait for the resort prices to be released, but at least 1/2 of it will be taken care of)?

We plan on adding 4 or 5 days to our trip pre-cruise. I'm not sure how the pricing works out honestly, since this is our first trip on DCL. I knew though that we wanted to do more than 3 days at WDW pre-cruise, so decided to just create a package myself. Also, if money issues arise, we can drop some of the WDW days or the WDW stay entirely, but still keep the cruise.

We're DVC members, so we always end up doing our own WDW bookings around our cruises. As far as I'm aware, the only thing you can't get booking it yourself is your hotel and stateroom keys combined into one! You also have to check in at the port, rather than being checked into your cruise when you get to your resort.

Otherwise, you can get the same price on Disney transfers and probably a better deal on air as well as your hotel doing it yourself. Plus, if you look at towncars or one-way rentals, you may be able to save on transportation as well. On our last cruise, we did 2 1-way rentals with Budget and saved about $50 over the cost of DCL transfers for 3. That's $50 more to spend on the ship! :rotfl:

Using Budget were the shuttles pretty fast or did you have to wait? I'm looking at Budget & Avis.
Anyone stayed at Radisson At the Port? I have read mixed reviews but it looks great in the pictures. We're trying to find a place near the port night before the cruise.
I told my Grand daughter about your dd & she's looking forward to meeting her. She wasn't crazy about having to hang out with her 5 yr old brother on ship.
Anyone on this cruise have a 5 yr old going?

The shuttles were fast. We dropped the car off while they had people from the last ship picking their cars up, so we ended up on a shuttle that was going back to the port for pick-up - I think we got there around 9:45! After debarkation, the shuttle wait was only a few minutes. What really took longest was the fact that because they only had 2 people doing check-out/check-in on cars, it took a while to get through the line in the office.

One cool thing to note - Budget will hold on to your personal car seat at their office if you're using them round-trip. So rather than carry our booster seat onto the ship and have to find some place to store it, we left it at the Budget office and just picked it up when we got the car to return to Orlando!

Well, looks like we'll be dropping this cruise and switching to the 6/13/10 cruise instead. The dance studio our daughter is at is going to have their end of year recital the first Saturday in June so that makes things a bit tough.

Hope everyone has fun on this one!

I haven't been on in awhile. Just checking to see if anyone else has jumped on board. The 10 of us booked our flights last week. Got a great deal (or I thought so) 119.00 each way out of OKLA, cheaper than I paid this June. Time seems to passing quickly, this trips is going to be here before we know it. Has anyone made any plans? I was looking at day rooms at Atlantis, has anyone done this before?

We just booked this cruise a few weeks ago. It will be me, dh and ds10. Will be staying 5 nights at BCV before the cruise and 3 nights after. This is our first Disney cruise and we are super excited!
