June 29, 2008 - Magic - West Coast!!!!

This might sound like a strange question, but I was reading on the main board that there seem to be quite a few issues with 'seat saving' with lounge chairs on the ship. So it got me thinkin'...do CM's have to handle any misunderstanding that should arise, or is there an actual 'Disney Cruise Cop' (for lack of a better term) if someone were to take this too far? We're pretty laid back as a family and would probably try to find another seat, but I know some people aren't. It just got me thinking :)

I am sure this lounge chair thing is only really an issue on the days at sea. I wouldnt worry about it........not as much booze and testosterone on the disney cruise compared to others I am sure!

Thanks !! I sure hope it's a non-issue!! There's too much fun on board to be concerned with those types of issues!!

this is my 7th or so disney cruise and the only place chairs are any kind of an issue is right near the pool..othrwise i have never tried to get a lounge chair and couldnt find one..
however, near the pool, people go early and put towels down to save the chairs for the day.even when they go to lunch or go anywhr else..thy save the chair,,there isnt any pool police to watch over tht..

hey happy

Secret Port Hole

I am paying for an INSIDE room (cat 10) but will get an outside room with a porthole and limited view. Most the sph rooms have lifeboats or other equipment outside of the window.

tom

SPH's Rock!!!!!!!!! We have always stayed in a Cat 5 or 6 but just can't swing that kind of money this trip. So to me the next best thing is a SPH!!! GET ONE IF YOU CAN!!!:cool1:

Most DCL know the code name SPH rooms. There are only 6 total on Deck 5.
The room numbers for you to check and ask if the DCL says they don't know what you are talking about are

Rooms: 5020,5022,5024,5520,5522, and 5524
There was an open 5022 ( for this cruise date) yesterday but then it was gone, but it just might be on hold for a few days and could go back up if that person doesn't put down a deposit or a room could come back open if someone changes their mind and can't go.

Good luck and just keep checking!!! Hope this helped!!;)

thanks for the info...great to know for the next cruise.. i am already booked wth a porthole...
so you mean you get a porthole where the lifeboats are and they charge the same as an inside cabin??..can you see out of the window at all..
after all these cruuises you would think i would have known abt this!!
thanks again:flower3:

Yeah, each has a varying degree of view.

Most people dont hang out in their cabin and just look at the view - at least in a porthole room.

SO the SPH give you light and a partial view to at least see where you are etc etc.

Obviously they dont compare to having a veranda, but you cant beat the Cat 10 inside price.

If you search the threads, there are some that people have used to post the views from various SPH rooms. I believe I have one of the most obstructed views, but hey,,,,,it's basically a free view. :)

Yes!! Price can't be beat! Don't get me wrong we have only had veranda before now and they are wonderful!!! I got to take a peak in one of the SPH rooms and they yes you may have part of view blocked some. But just to also let you know. SPH rooms are on deck 5. and if you are on deck 1 or 2 with a port hole you will have most of your views blocked if you are parked by another boat which DCL is always by another boat at most ports except for Disney Island. That is another reason why the SPH is great because you are up higher so you can see more through the port whole. ;)

thank you for the info..
very helpful...i have stayed wth porthole, inside cabin, veranda, split bath and single bath..
it doesnt matter, just so i am there
cant wait...
:yay:

I finally got a good Disney Photo of our family to share.

This was on our trip to DL a few weeks ago. Now that we have renewed our passes, we have been like 4 times in the past 2 weeks.

I have ONE MONTH until our WDW trip for Spring Break! :cool1:

I'm totally bummed out!!...I have my family of 5 (too many people for SPH?!?), so I'm going to totally miss out on those rooms!! Plus, I get a little claustrophobic. So I need the balcony to get some 'air'. Our room is on deck 8 (family suite...forgot the number), but happy I'm near the stairs to the buffet!! :rotfl:
