Private Mixology Class

Finally heard back from DCL about the required numbers for this class and was a bit surprised by their response.

I thought the class would be much smaller as the posts I had seen on this had said that you got to mix your own drinks.
I'm going to ask him to clarify whether this size class is just a lecture (with drinks handed out) or if it is hands on.

I'd prefer a hands on class if possible.

Anyway, at last count we only had 10 people (plus 4 maybes) interested. So we need alot more to hit the minimum number of 25.

Also, if someone is in concierge and is interested in this type of class, the concierge staff would probably be faster and more efficient in organizing this for us...so feel free to step in and let me know if interested:thumbsup2
I could take the names and info and pass them on to you to pass on to concierge:confused3

Of course the drinking age is 21, so unfortunately our younger DIS members have to sit this one out:hug:

Well david finally got back to me and his response to my question about the mixology class was the larger the class the less likely there will be hands on opportunities.

So I am taking that to mean that even with a minimum number of 25 people (which we are not close to even with my DH agreeing to tag along) that there is a chance that we will not get any "hands on" time with a private class.
Since the main attraction, at least for me, is the hands on opportunity for a mixology class I am going to try to get tickets for the regular one on embarktion day.

Now they have the same requirements/opportunities for private wine/martini/beer tasting classes so if we get a minimum of 25 people willing to sign up we can do one of those:confused3

I'd also put the request in for a private mixology class if that ever gets to 25 people as well (I'd sign up if it helps to get to 25).

The last option is touching base on embarktion day (at lanyard meet ?) and trying to all get tickets for the same tastings:confused3 I had alot of fun with Dis people in the past at these tastings:goodvibes

Also, a thing to consider, the cooking classes they schedule usually include a wine tasting at the end as well-they are alot of fun too:woohoo:

Well I was starting to get things ready and then it seems things just got so crazy again.

I am up for any kind of tasting or class. Would love to do with others, but If we dont work one out as a group, we will probably just try on our own anyway - I think martini and beer are our top two!! We hope it works out to join others for more fun but I think being our first cruise we will be overwhelmed upon boarding and am not sure we could figure out meeting up with others to sign up. Sorry, didnt want this to come across wrong :(

CSwan or was it someone else?? - hmm my memory :lmao:- I seem to recall you posting how you made your tshirts - I will go back and search but if you didnt would you be willing to share. I was looking for the tie dyes with the mickey head. We really want to make some. I was going to make the kids where you print out the transfer but I dont know if I will have a new printer on time.

Hope things calm down soon so I can get back to what matter - planning for the cruise!!:cheer2:

This sounds like a GREAT idea!

I got the basic idea from this thread
http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2028914
Basically, this is what I did:
1. Traced a Mickey head on the shirt
2. Do a basting stitch all the way around the Mickey head. Do this with dental floss and use VERY SMALL STITCHES
3. Pull your dental floss TIGHT to make the Mickey head pucker up.
4. Wrap a rubber band around the base of the Mickey head TIGHT
5. Wash shirt
6. Take wet shirt, hold the Mickey head and twirl the shirt so it looks like a danish
7. Put 3 rubber bands on to resemble pizza slices.
8. Put plastic at the base of the Mickey head to avoid drip on the shirt
9. Apply dye to the Mickey head and wrap in plastic. Remove plastic from base
10. Apply color to the slices. Make sure you don't put corrective colors next to each other (red by green, blue by orange, yellow by purple) as they will make brown.
11. Wrap entire shirt in plastic and let sit 24 hours
12. Rinse dye out until water runs clear. remove dental floss and rinse some more.
13. Wash, dry and ENJOY!

Hope this helps!

Howdy,
Having been in a couple of F/E-Exchanges in the past, I’ve found that a ship’s map illustrating the location of all the cabins that are participating can make the task of distribution a good bit easier. Since I’ve already done the work, I might as well share it with everyone else. For all those participating in the F/E, if you're interested in getting a copy, here are a couple of options.

Click on this link to download a copy of the map as an MS-Word document that can be printed on a regular sheet of 8.5x11 paper:
http://www.mediafire.com/?7xq6q808tv8ov95

Click on this link to download a much larger version of the map that you can then edit or work with in any way you choose:
http://www.mediafire.com/?c0ep9691066ppr6

Below is a small version of this map to give you an idea of how it will look.
You can save this one as well, but the other two versions will be larger and likely more useful

Holler out if you have any questions. I’ll also probable bring some extra copies to the initial Dis-Meet on embarkation day.

Wow! What a great idea. Thanks for sharing.

We have been so busy that I haven't even thought about packing. I do have my WDW/cruise basket that I always keep things in though and if I come across something I need I will toss it in there.

Looking forward to meeting everyone. We are really excited for this vacation!!

GoofyIsAsGoofyDoes,
THAT IS AWESOME!!!!! Thank you so much for doing that! You are FANTASTIC!

Wow this is great! Thanks for making this for all of us to use!:thumbsup2

Y’all are very welcome.

I rather like playing with images, so this was almost as entertaining to put together as it can be useful in practice later on. Now I just need to finish up our door magnets. I have a habit of making so many that we end up redecorating our door every night of a cruise (so feel free to drop by if you’re on Deck-9 just to see what’s different). Is anyone else doing door magnets in this group and what kind of images are you planning to put up?

My family made quite a few magnets for our stateroom door also. It will be fun to see everyone's magnets.

We too plan on printing out some of the wonderful designs from the DISigners and making magnets too.

Great! I’m looking forward to seeing what y’all have come up with. Like I said previously, we will change out the magnets on our door daily. There will usually be a couple just for fun, a least one customized “Mickey-Head” for each of us, and one or two major images that are specifically designed for that day of the cruise. Here are a few of the images that I’ve completed and will likely bring along, but I’m always tinkering, so some of these could change.
(You can click on any of these to see larger versions)

First, the main reason for this particular trip:

The one that will hit the door
as soon as we board the ship:

Something for our first “Dip”
(I’m still thinking about the return to CC)

One for our Sea Day

One just for fun:

The only one that will be on the
door every day (it’s a tradition thing)

We are doing magnets as well...we have some from Tom (which are awesome) and now are trying to figure out how to modify some of the other templates that are out there....I'm not that creative on my pc:confused3....I'd better recruit my 12-year-old:rotfl:

Hello everyone! We just booked this cruise today and it will be our 8th cruise with Disney, but our FIRST on the Dream. We can't wait!!

Do you guys have a FaceBook page setup yet for the cruise? Is there a SM or FE list that we can join?

Looking forward to meeting everyone!

Welcome!:cheer2::cheer2:

Our group doesn't have a facebook page. We closed our FE list at the beginning of April, as we have some very craft folks (not including me!) who needed firm numbers....there is info a few pages back about our meet once we get onboard!

You are going to love the Dream. We sailed her on the MV and had a fabulous time!!

we have been missing in action forever - my apologies. Hope everyone is getting excited about the cruise! I have a question for the group - looking for any experiences with late flights and what to do. We are thinking we will go to a park for the day - rent a car at one of the agencies near the port, head to Epcot probably for the day and then drop the car back at the airport when our flight leaves later that night. I just dread a little bit the thought of being hot and sticky and sweaty and tired as we board our flight and being the "smelly family" :lmao: If anyone has had a better than average experience with one of the car rental agencies, I'd love to know it.

Our other thought was to find a day room somewhere other than the Airport Hyatt (were really hoping for the Marriott Grande Lakes but called and they won't do it). Anyone have any good experiences in this realm?

Thanks in advance! Time's ticking down now!!

Well, since I am not crafty either, I can start another group for those of us who signed up late and still want to do FEs!

We have a FB page for the Disney Hawaii Cruise and it is wonderful to be able to keep up with everyone, but still have a place to get questions asked about the cruise.

I'll set one up and post the link if anyone wants to join.

I created a FB page for our Cruise if anyone would like to join. I'm not sure how to post the link to the Group, but you should be able to search on the Group "DREAMin' the Summer Away!" and ask to join the Group.

I also created a Google docs spreadsheet for anyone who missed the original FE group and still wants to participate. Just open the Roll Call spreadsheet and add your name to the Late FE Group!

We already have a facebook group. Not many have utilized it but it is there. Here is the link http://www.facebook.com/#!/group.php?gid=109439672416016
