June 26, 2011 5 Nights on the Disney Dream!!!!

When did we get a facebook page?! I'm on here all the time and totally don't remember it. Next thing you know someone will tell me I joined it:rotfl2:

To our newest member -- terribly sorry I must be getting old!

No problem at all! I deleted the FB group I created and joined the old one.

Thanks!

Hello everyone! I upgraded our Facebook page and everything that had been posted disappeared! Please, if you would like to repost pics, docs, links, etc. I would appreciate it!

Never mind my last post! Everything seems to be back now!

WELCOME KAREN AND FAMILY!

Great! I’m looking forward to seeing what y’all have come up with. Like I said previously, we will change out the magnets on our door daily. There will usually be a couple just for fun, a least one customized “Mickey-Head” for each of us, and one or two major images that are specifically designed for that day of the cruise. Here are a few of the images that I’ve completed and will likely bring along, but I’m always tinkering, so some of these could change.
(You can click on any of these to see larger versions)

First, the main reason for this particular trip:

My husband and I are celebrating our 20th Anniversary also. Congrats to you and your wife. When is your actual Anniversary ours is June 22nd.

And congratulations to y’all as well. :goodvibes

Our anniversary is actually in late April, but the school calendar combined with an employer mandate prevents us from traveling in that time frame. As such, this trip comes under the heading of “20th anniversary”, but just falls a bit after the exact day. I thought about adjusting that particular image to say: “Celebrating 1053 Magical Weeks” (having done something similar on our last cruise), but figured, that it was just fine as it was this time around. Although, now that I think about it… That probably ought to read: “Celebrating 20 years of Dreams”, now shouldn’t it?

Would you like a copy of that image adjusted with your names or something similar? Just PM or holler back.

I am up for any kind of tasting or class. Would love to do with others, but If we dont work one out as a group, we will probably just try on our own anyway - I think martini and beer are our top two!! We hope it works out to join others for more fun but I think being our first cruise we will be overwhelmed upon boarding and am not sure we could figure out meeting up with others to sign up. Sorry, didnt want this to come across wrong :(
Actually, you came across fine:thumbsup2 That's exactly how I feel about it too. Hoping I get to attend a tasting with you guys, but ready to go it alone if I have to.
I'm thinking that checking with the Double Dip right before ours would help as the scheduling of tastings might be the same:confused3

Besides, I need someone to pass the regular and dirty martini to as I can't stand to drink those:laughing: I like the sweet ones:cloud9:

Howdy,
Having been in a couple of F/E-Exchanges in the past, I’ve found that a ship’s map illustrating the location of all the cabins that are participating can make the task of distribution a good bit easier. Since I’ve already done the work, I might as well share it with everyone else. For all those participating in the F/E, if you're interested in getting a copy, here are a couple of options.
These are great!! Thanks so much:thumbsup2

Y’all are very welcome.

I rather like playing with images, so this was almost as entertaining to put together as it can be useful in practice later on. Now I just need to finish up our door magnets. I have a habit of making so many that we end up redecorating our door every night of a cruise (so feel free to drop by if you’re on Deck-9 just to see what’s different). Is anyone else doing door magnets in this group and what kind of images are you planning to put up?
I got a few on my computer that I need to make into magnets. Definitely need them to find the room. Now I need to remember to make them up soon as I hate rushing right before we leave.

Our FE arrived all repaired...
Very nice:thumbsup2
The lady that makes these has a nice business going.

We too plan on printing out some of the wonderful designs from the DISigners and making magnets too.
I like their designs too:thumbsup2
Had some great ones for our Baltic cruise last summer.

I like them all. I think Ihave some of the same pictures saved on my computer as well (different text of course)

My DH and I will hit 20 years July 2012.

We are doing magnets as well...we have some from Tom (which are awesome) and now are trying to figure out how to modify some of the other templates that are out there....I'm not that creative on my pc:confused3....I'd better recruit my 12-year-old:rotfl:
Yup, I get my teen computer geek to help me all the time:laughing:

Hello everyone! We just booked this cruise today and it will be our 8th cruise with Disney, but our FIRST on the Dream. We can't wait!!
Looking forward to meeting everyone!

Hi Karen
Welcome Aboard :welcome:

we have been missing in action forever - my apologies. Hope everyone is getting excited about the cruise! I have a question for the group - looking for any experiences with late flights and what to do. We are thinking we will go to a park for the day - rent a car at one of the agencies near the port, head to Epcot probably for the day and then drop the car back at the airport when our flight leaves later that night. I just dread a little bit the thought of being hot and sticky and sweaty and tired as we board our flight and being the "smelly family" :lmao: If anyone has had a better than average experience with one of the car rental agencies, I'd love to know it.

Our other thought was to find a day room somewhere other than the Airport Hyatt (were really hoping for the Marriott Grande Lakes but called and they won't do it). Anyone have any good experiences in this realm?

Thanks in advance! Time's ticking down now!!
We've used rental cars as it is cheaper for a family of 4. I think it was Budget, but its been a while so I'm not sure. And not better than average experience with them anyway.

I don't see how you can avoid being a bit tired and sticky after a day at the parks in June-maybe put aside a change of clothes to change into at the airport would make you feel better though.

We've hung out at Downtown Disney for a few hours when we had later flights.
This time we are getting off the ship asap and going to Universal and Harry Potter world. We'll have our car though as we are driving rather than flying this time.

Didn't know/remember about the facebook page either

Never mind my last post! Everything seems to be back now!

I've had that happen to me too on facebook. Getting to the point that I just log off and wait for things to get fixed.

Just a few days ago:scared1:

Happy Anniversary Rob and Tamara:cheer2::cheer2::dance3::yay::banana:

I'm thinking that when it's a big number anniversary you can celebrate at least twice:rolleyes1

Thank you, and I agree. We had a low-key celebration a couple weeks back,
but the party starts once we get down to Canaveral.
party:

It finally warmed up around here!!!! :D It's rainy this afternoon, but in the morning it got up to 70, and we've had some nice hot days too! I can't wait to get out of high school so I can move to Florida...I'm NOT a New Englander by heart, just by birth lol!

Oh my goodness, we've a little more than a month to go!! :cool1:

just requested to join the FB group! :)

I've been very MIA recently, sorry! Working for the mouse does that, haha.

Anywho, super excited that the cruise isnt that far away! My family is flying down on the 23rd, and since I haven't seen them since mid-January, I can't wait. We are doing Hoop Dee Doo on the 24th, looking forward to that (unlimited beer/wine/sangria? yesss).

I'm probably going to disappear again, as Hollywood Studios is gearing up for the craziness that is Star Wars Weekends/Star Tours 2 opening, so longgg hours ahead of me! :)

Hey everyone!! Pace Family here. School is finally done, turned in my last final this morning, THANK GOODNESS! We have all of the FE exchange items taken care of, our FE looks fantastic thanks to my hubby and son! I will try to post pictures soon. I get to start on the packing list and going through clothes, fun fun!!! I am so excited, we all are! I need to read back a few pages and catch up to everyone. Hope all is well for everyone, Happy Monday!

Hi Everyone,

Can't believe how close we are getting. We had decided a few months ago that we would just drive this trip because airfare has been so pricey. I had been dreading the long 20 hour drive and having to take an extra vacation day to accomadate the travel time. So last night I decided to check flights and found some decent airfares for the trip. Okay, not as decent as I was used to in the past but good enough to avoid the really long car ride! So now we are flying in on Saturday morning. I checked one way rental car prices and they aren't bad so I think we will do that instead of a towncar to the Raddisson.:woohoo:

I haven't even started to think about packing yet! There is so much to do!

We will be doing magnets.
I have a bunch with our names on them, I may have to re-work for the Dream. I also have an assortment of character ears to go over the porthole on the door - is the door the same on the Dream? hmmmm

Hi Unless you are in concierge, the doors are the same. the concierge doors have wood paneling, so no magnets.

Congratulations to both (or should I say all four) of you. Our 20th is in December so this cruise is also a pre-20th anniversary celebration for us as well.

We are getting soooo close and excited here. We still have a few weeks of craziness..but then it will be time to relax on the cruise. My 17 year old DS made his confirmation last week, my 8 year old DD makes her first communion this weekend and then my 17 year old DS GRADUATES HIGH SCHOOL. :):):)

We have our FEs just about finished and once graduation is over, I can concentrate on clothes. We are going down the Friday before the cruise and staying the week after....I just can't wait.

If you are not on FB, but you want to signup for the roll call or other events around the ship, please feel free to edit our Google Doc and add your name!

One person asked about the Champagne Girls event. I used this template from our Hawaii DIS cruise next year, but there is usually a group of women who get together for a formal or informal afternoon of Champagne drinking. If you search the DISBoard, you can find all kinds of information on the group if someone wants to organize one.

Some of us are also trying to do a martini, beer or wine tasting. Meeting on embarktion day to go to guest services to sign up with some of our fellow Disers.

That sounds fun Tammyepolytinkfan! Feel free to add a sign up for it on the spreadsheet if you would like to try to get a list going.

I just utilized the sheet from the DCL Hawaii cruise, but we can modify it to have whatever you guys want.
