June 26, 2011 5 Nights on the Disney Dream!!!!

For those of you doing the dolphin swim I would recommend opting for a one piece bathing suite rather than a two piece (tankini, bikini, etc).

At the end of our swim the dolphins gave us a foot push through the water. It was incredible:banana:

But the drag from the water does make losing the bottom of your bathing suit a possibility
The people in charge of the swim warned us about this (at the swim-not before we got there). So we were prepared to grab for the shorts if they started to slip. So I wish I had worn a one piece instead of the tankini that I usually wear as I would have been able to enjoy it more without the worry.

Also, water shoes are a good idea to avoid splinters on the wooden decks.

They do provide lockers to keep your things in and I was glad I brought a change of clothes so I did not have to ride back to the ship in my wet swimsuit.

If you want to save money you could bring your own camera (preferably waterproof) and I'm sure the trainers or another family would take pics for you. I thought the professional pics were worth the extra money though and allowed us to relax and enjoy the excursion.

Check-in was pretty painless. I just went back in to complete the process and got 10:30 am Port arrival time.

We are all really excited about trying the Dolphin swim.

As for cabins we are scheduled for cruise 7 and 8 and still have not sprung for a veranda....maybe someday. We usually end up travelling at really expensive times because of our work schedule so I try to keep the costs down as much as possible. We have stayed on Deck 5 many times and that has been really convenient.

I agree about Fish Hooks- I'm not a big fan either. DD and I do Zumba together- we love it! We actually did a Zumba event at World Thinking Day last week- it was a blast!
I guess I didn't realize you were a teacher as well. I teach in post secondary at a cosmetology school! How funny!
I bet that is fun working at a cosmetolgoy school. I work at a high school - special ed Biology. I see you are from New Hampshire - my dh has family around Conway.
My dd and I are attempting Zumba on the Wii but we both have 2 left feet so it is quite the site. :cool1:

All you gold and platinum members are lucky. I am not gold yet so I have to wait until March 28th to book my excursions/spa, etc. Hope the things my family wants to book doesn't fill up.
I think we have to wait till April 15th because it is our 1st cruise

Here you go!

Hoping everyone has an easy time of it too.
I'm guessing that the shorter cruises don't seem to have the rush for booking excursions and Palo that the longer ones have:confused3

Our last two cruises on the Wonder were easy to get what we wanted. Booking for the longer cruises was a nightmare:sad2:

For those of you waiting to book Palo...I would recommend trying for palo brunch first as that will most likely be the hardest to get (only one sea day). If it isn't available -don't stress as you will again have a chance when you get onboard the first day. The navigators that are handed out at the port will have information where you are to go to get Palo Reservations.

And even if that doesn't work out..get your name on the wait list and check back periodically. I have been called when on the wait list while on the ship-so it does happen.

Really getting excited about this cruise:woohoo:

I'm planning on going to guest services when we board to get tickets for the drink tastings. I have done wine and martini tastings in the past and they were both alot of fun. This time I am hoping to get into one of their mixology classes too. I've gone by myself in the past (DH doesn't drink) but they are more fun when I go with Dis friends...so if anyone doesn't mind me tagging along let me know:goodvibes

I want to try a martini or margarita tasting or the mixology class. I have never done one. My husband doesn't drink either so I would be by myself too. Would love to go with you.:):drinking1

My DH and I did the martini tasting last time and that was alot of fun!:thumbsup2 He has also done the beer tasting before. We would be interested in doing a tasting again. It would be especially fun with several people to do it with.

That matches what I’ve seen on past 5-night cruises aboard the Wonder. Thanks for checking that out. It also confirms that those of us who want to see the different presentations in all the main dinning rooms, probably should not book Palo on the forth night out (good to know).

Cool:cool1::thumbsup2

I'm gonna go for the mixology as my first choice as I haven't done that one before. I have heard those classes are pretty small so grab tickets as soon as you get on board.

I'm pretty sure the martini/wine/beer tastings are easier to get into as the size of the group can be bigger.

If I remember correctly the days I've seen tastings on previously were Nassau day and sea days. Since we are not getting off the ship at Nassau (been there done that) I'll probably go for a tasting that day (maybe wine if available) and save the other tastings for sea days assuming I'm given a choice. We should be able to get together for at least one tasting on this cruise:woohoo:

If we can touch base on embarktion day (our Dis meet is at 3:00 pm at that vista cafe on embarktion day I think???) we can try to get tickets for the same times:confused3
I'm thinking the waiting area at the port is going to be a mob scene and hard to find anyone:upsidedow

My parents called this morning, and got us Palo reservations on weds 6/28! We are planning on going to Palo a second time, and will make the reservations onboard, probably for the last night if we can.

I can't believe its getting to be so close!

I'm not a martini fan but I'd like to do the beer tasting but am especially interested in the mixology class!

My DD is nine! She would love to have a pre-made friend on the ship!

We also have a DD who just turned 9 last week. She is a soccer-playing, book-reading, Justice-wearing girly-girl.

We are going to try to get in some of the tastings too. martini and beer, maybe. What is Mixology?

You can begin booking on April 12 for first time cruise. We are in the same situation.

Thanks!! I hope we still get what we want - nothing too fancy - but I am trying to get dh and dd parasailing.

My DH and I did the martini tasting last time and that was alot of fun!:thumbsup2 He has also done the beer tasting before. We would be interested in doing a tasting again. It would be especially fun with several people to do it with.

Looks like there is going to be a lot of business for the tastings!!:thumbsup2

We also have a DD who just turned 9 last week. She is a soccer-playing, book-reading, Justice-wearing girly-girl.

My dd may do soccer this spring, but it will be her first time. And she just started shopping at Justice :) She likes to read but lately has been hooked on books like High School Musical, Hannah, ..just reads her Disney tv in a book:)

They have a mixology class? What is that exactly? How to mix drinks?? I didn't see that when we were on back in January. Sounds like fun. :cool1: Do you go to guest services to book it? I don't see anything like that online.

I just looked up what Justice was-We don't have any of those stores within an hour's drive so I didn't even know what it was! Even so, I don't think I'd shop there xD I'm not a name-brand kid, and I'm not a fan of stores like Aeropostale, Abercrombie, etc. I shop the $1.97 racks at J.C. Penney's :D

I'm concerned about style, just not brand names. For example, I picked up a couple of impressive batwing tops at JC Penney for $1.97 each...I like scoring while shopping! :)

Should have gotten up at midnight on Sunday, but had been travelling all day to get to Hilton Head DVC, Palo brunch was all gone at 7 a.m. :sad2: Don't want to do dinner.

Wed the 29th?
We got brunch for that day if that is what you got so we will see you then:thumbsup2
:woohoo:
I would eat in Palo every night if I could:laughing:

I'm not a martini fan but I'd like to do the beer tasting but am especially interested in the mixology class!
So tempted to see if we could get our own mixology class.
I might ask my TA about it and see if it's possible.
We did that on the PC cruise in 2008 and it was fun to have the tastings with a bunch of Dis people:goodvibes

We also have a DD who just turned 9 last week. She is a soccer-playing, book-reading, Justice-wearing girly-girl.
I was wondering if you were still on this cruise or not.
I remember your name from the 2008 PC cruise although I got on the threads after you canceled I think

Can't book in advance.. it is somewhat of a new tasting class where they teach you to mix some drinks. They keep the numbers low as it is hands on and you will make your own drinks.
If we don't manage to get our own private class then you need to go to guest services when you board and buy tickets. I'm guessing about $15 pp is the norm, but I'm not sure.
Should have gotten up at midnight on Sunday, but had been travelling all day to get to Hilton Head DVC, Palo brunch was all gone at 7 a.m. :sad2: Don't want to do dinner.

You can keep checking back to see if there are any openings...but that has only worked for me once (I think DCL added on some brunch times on a port day for our Baltic cruise)
I would say try to get to the port early and get one then. That has worked for me every time.

We are so excited! Last night we bought the materials to make the FE! Just waiting for April 12th so we can book everything and really hoping that what we want is still available!!!

party:***Lanyard meet on embarktion day at 3pm at the Vista Cafe on deck 4.
Look for the Lanyard logo on a big 8x10 sheet and also a green disboard Mickey Head so you can spot our group.

At that time My family and some of the lanyard team will pass out the lanyards to everyone.***

If you can't make it at that time I will deliver to your staterooms that evening. OK.:wizard:
