June 26, 2011 5 Nights on the Disney Dream!!!!

So.... I have been lurking for a while but now there are deadlines and things, so I guess I have to come out of hiding.... :cool2:

So anyway, I am cruising with my Mom and my two boys ages 13(14 by cruise time) and 16. We are totally psyched to be sailing the Dream!

That is about it! Looking forward to meeting everyone.

We are cruising with 2 boys as well: my 15 yr old son and my 11 (going on 25!) yr old son. I am getting married so we have 12 staterooms sailing with us. One of our rooms has a 15 yr old girl and her 17 yr old sister...and I understand that they may be bringing 2 friends with them.

Glad to see more teenage boys on the cruise!!!

And so many from Virginia - I live in Harpers Ferry WV now but grew up in Sterling VA near Dulles Airport. And I saw someone from MD too near DC - I work in Gaithersburg. So hello neighbors!! Certainly is a small world!!

We are from Annapolis, Maryland and have property down in Strasburg, VA...so we drive through Harpers Ferry often!!! I am surprised by how many people are from up here and willing to go to Canaveral for the cruise. Very cool.

I spent 12 years in Florida.....7 working at WDW....and will be glad to get out of this weather and into the sun!! Looking forward to meeting everyone!

How much snow did you get last night/this morning? Here in Fairfax County we got about an inch and got a 2 hour delay. And with that last statement, I'm off to work.

While we live in Florida almost ALL of our friends in are Va and MD. Leesburg, Herndon, Frederick, and all around the area.

DW and I keep saying at as soon as the two oldest graduate high school (C/O 2013) that we're packing up and moving up there to be with all of our friends.

This cruise is going to be an absolute blast!!!party:

Hi again here is the example of the lanyard logo

Hi everyone,
Deadline to order lanyards if you are not on the FE gift exchange list is March 1st.PM me if you want them, they will cost $2.75 each. Payment deadline is also March 1st!
I will place the lanyard order on March 2nd.:thumbsup2
***Also note that a great idea was given for everyone to meet on embarktion day at 3pm at the Vista Cafe on deck 4. I will be printing up our Lanyard logo on a big 8x10 sheet and also a green disboard Mickey Head so you can spot our group. At that time My family and I and anyone else who wants to help will pass out the lanyards to everyone.*** If you can't make it at that time I will make sure to go to your staterooms and put them in your FE's sometime that evening. OK.:wizard:

We booked this cruise back on our last Magic cruise a year ago - that was the one that got stuck at Castaway Cay and stayed an extra day.
Read about it here

I am not interested in FEs - too much stress - LOL, but I will buy 4 lanyards. I will PM CSWAN with our details.

We actually have 2 cabins - 6690 and 7191. We had planned to have a few other folks joining us and that fell through. I was going to put us all together in the Cat 6b, but it was actually cheaper to keep the two rooms. Plus I really want to see the virtual porthole!

We already have our flights booked, rental car and hotel (quality suites). After the cruise we are staying at a timeshare in Orange Lakes. We plan to do Discovery Cove, Seaworld, Aquatica and maybe a DW waterpark and DisneyQuest - we have some passes left from a few years ago.

That is about it! Looking forward to meeting everyone.
Hey, Welcome Aboard :welcome:
We booked last summer too on the magic, but on our Baltic cruise:thumbsup2

Vista cafe sounds great :thumbsup2
I'm scatter brained, but if I get there in time I would love to help pass them out:thumbsup2

It is so exciting to see everyone posting - things are definitely picking up and that tells me we must be getting closer!!:cool1:

And so many from Virginia - I live in Harpers Ferry WV now but grew up in Sterling VA near Dulles Airport. And I saw someone from MD too near DC - I work in Gaithersburg. So hello neighbors!! Certainly is a small world!!

I am getting so excited about the cruise but I just havent had as much time as I would like to put in to planning. I saw this idea on one site of doing a quilt with autographs - bringing along quilting squares and having the characters sign it - I really would like to do this but not sure I will have the time to organize it. Anyone else a big planner? I love reading the threads on what to bring. This will be our first cruise so I welcome any hints!!
Welcome Aboard :welcome:

Best tip I got for cruising was to bring an over the door shoe holder (clear plastic pockets) to put small items in. We would hang it on the bathroom door and keep everything from sunscreen, toothpaste, toothbrushes, hair brushes, hair ties, medications, etc. anything that would fit in the pockets. It really helped us keep things organized so that we didn't spend alot of time searching drawers for these things. We buy a new ones each time from Walmart as it is easier to pack a packaged one that is flat.

We are just planning to stay on the ship and explore:woohoo: So far no plans to get off at Nassau.
Oh but planning to check out the new stuff on Castaway Cay. Hoping to bike ride on CC this time too:yay:

I just wanted to stop by and say "hi." I had initally tried to go through and get caught up with everyone cruising, but with so many posts, it'll take weeks. My DH, DD1, DB, and I will be joining my parents as their anniversary gift to themselves (and us too--we are so spoiled!). It'll be my third DCL vacay--we did one the first year on the Magic, the DVC members cruise on the Wonder, and now the Dream, which is a Dream.

It'll be our first cruise where I won't be able to spend the entire time floating on Serenity Bay, but I'm really excited to watch DD's expression for everything. She's in love with Mickey (and has been to WDW twice already--once for her 1st bday).

So, anyway, howdy!
Hey
Welcome Aboard :welcome:
We are new DVC members:goodvibes
Staying at Beach Clucb the night before the cruise and Animal Kingdon the night after:woohoo:

My DD will be 14 on this cruise and my DS 17.
The DS is shy and spends alot of time gaming:rolleyes:
But he did like the teen excursion for CC, "the wild side" (?) last time so I'm thinking we might sign him up for that again.

We're planning to drive to Canaveral for this cruise. Hoping that with my DS helping with the driving it won't be so bad:rolleyes1

I work from home most of the time so I slept through most of it:rolleyes1
But the kids were thrilled to get the late delay:laughing:

Too funny, DH and I plan to move to Florida when the kids are done with school:confused3

Both my boys are huge gamers.....my DS 14 (he will be almost 15 when we sail) is quite shy too....we will definitely have to introduce them!! I was looking at the CC Wild Side Adventure as well.....glad your son liked it.

We have to drive down too.....so I can bring my wine!!! :rotfl:

I finally got around to booking the Radisson for the Saturday night before the cruise. There was very little availability so it is a good thing I did it now! I think we are going to drive this trip too. I have been watching airfare prices and nothing looks great so we are leaning towards making the drive rom western NY.

My dd will be 11 at the time of the cruise. Does anyone else have dd's in this age group?

My friends and I are also staying at the Radisson that Saturday, as well as the Friday we get back to the port. I had our TA book it months ago. Don't forget to schedule your shuttle departure time if you haven't already :thumbsup2

We are also going to be driving down. It's more cost efficient for the four of us then finding airplane tickets. They are driving from Allentown, PA to my place in VA and then we will continue to Florida from my place. We still have figured out if we are going to leave here on Friday night and drive through the night and enjoy the hotel and what else is in the area, or if we are going to leave super early Saturday morning and get in sometime in the evening.

I'll probably be signing up for a wine tasting. I don't know much about wines, but at the tastings I usually find at least one red and one white wine that I like:confused3
But you're right one of the benfits of driving is being able to bring as much as you want:cool1:

We're planning on leaving very early Friday morning so we arrive Friday evening (approx 14-15 hour drive). Leaving Saturday open to relax by the pool and then driving over to the port Sunday morning. I would be nervous doing the drive on Saturday as you don't have much room for error or car trouble that way:rolleyes1

The Radisson is nice...we were there back in 2002 before our first cruise:goodvibes

I need to call today to book our shuttle! We have stayed at the Radisson several times before and it has always worked out well for us. I think we will try to leave on Friday afternoon and drive all night so we can recover the rest of Saturday.

Mrs. Scooby - Thanks for the tip on the shoe holder - sounds like a great idea. We are thinking of biking on Castaway too - and probably snorkeling. It is nice we will be there for 2 days - so we can reserve one day for doing nothing :)

TubaBabe86 - I work in MCPS and only got the 2 hr delay too - are you a teacher? My kids go to school in Jefferson County, WV and had the day off - they always get out.

Crazy what is going on everywhere in the world and the gas prices are going through the roof - can Disney tack on a gas surcharge? Or was there already one in there? We got our plane tickets back in Dec and I am so happy; I checked a few days ago and ther price had doubled.

Just booked Universal for after the cruise - just one night, the kids want to see WWoHP (is that how you shorten it?) and we have the Radisson booked for the night before. So all that is left is the Universal tickets and my husband wants to try to get to the Space Center on Saturday - I emailed my representative but have not heard. Oh, and I need to book excursions as soon as I am allowed.

FOUR MONTHS FROM TODAY!!

If it wasn't for the four month mark today I would be killing myself due to all this snow >.< We got a foot and a half yesterday!! :sad2:

So mom started taking out bags to figure out which ones we'd take today...a little glimmer of hope!

Yeah, we were able to get a cabin last night that fit the 4 of us in one! So, we will be joining everyone on this cruise! So excited! It will be me (Janie) DH Dave, DS Riley 18, DD Sierra 14. I don't worry about our son making friends, but if anyone has a daughter that is 14/15 that likes facebook & music like Rhianna, Bruno Mars, Katy Perry.... maybe they can become friends prior to the cruise? This will be the first one where she can go in the teens club, but she is shy so she won't go unless maybe I can find a friend before hand?

I'm not a teacher, hopefully one day though. I'm currently an aide in the classroom and work with one particular student in the special education department.

My boyfriend and I did WWoHP last year with a different group of friends that are big Harry Potter fans. It was hectic last year crowd wise, but because of the package we booked we were able to get into the park an hour early and skip the general public line that looped through a good chunk of the park. As long as they enjoy Potter, they will enjoy that section of the park and the ride that as you go through the halls of Hogwarts.

*raises hand* I happen to be fifteen, on Facebook, and (somewhat) like those things... Have her look me up under Sam Onomatopoeia Perry. (The middle name thing is kind of a joke.) :)

Everyone else is allowed to friend me too, just let me know with the request who you are. :D

Yes this is my daughter and she is happy to make friends to hang out with on the cruise.
By the way are you intrested in lanyards?? Let me know and looking forward to meeting you on the cruise. What stateroom did you get?

Glad it worked out and you are able to join us:thumbsup2:cool1:
My DS Andrew is 17 and my DD Kelly will be 14 by cruise time.
Andrew is the shy one, but Kelly while not exactly shy would also feel more comfortable meeting someone early to hang with.
I'll be trying to get her to come with me when I meet everyone at the Vista cafe for lanyards so hopefully the kids will meet up there at least.

Cool:thumbsup2:cool1:

My DD has a facebook page and I'll let her know.
But be forewarned....she has picked up her Dad's very sarcastic sense of humor:rolleyes1
I keep trying to warn her that the jokes that are funny at home don't always go across well with her peers:upsidedow
