June 25, 2012 - WONDERful 7 night Alaskan cruise

I had heard the Best of Alaska menu was served on Pirate night. So I guess there is an Alaskan themed pirate night? We're bringing our pirate shirts, just in case.

I'm with you and we are going to bring out pirate outfits also....

I called yesterday about the Pirate night. I was told that yes, they still do the party, but they don't do the fireworks due to Alaska regulations. So pack your eye patches and your parrots!

What?!? :scared1: No fireworks? I must admit I'm a little disappointed. I love the fireworks at sea. But I'll still managed to pillage and plunder without all the fireworks.

Yes, there WILL be fireworks, but they will be in Victoria, BC!!!

Apparently, we are lucky enough to be in port at Victoria for Canada Day (July 1)!!! :yay: :yay: :yay:

That's good to know! Though I really think I should schedule an excursion now since it may be too busy to just walk around the town.

Hey two things... sorry I've been so absent but now its getting so close I'm scrambling.

1. I noticed on the fish extenders there is still one person who doesn't have a room assignment... how will we find her.. Also is anyone else looking to upgrade at the port as we are... if so.. any ideas on how to get the new room assignments out??

2. Are we doing a meet and greet on boarding day??? If so where??? Put us in.

I am definitely trying for an upgrade at port. The person in charge of the FE can put a list at their room for any room changes to be written on then send out an update to the other rooms.

We are planning on meeting in the Promenade lounge at 3 pm. This should give everyone enough time to eat, get in their rooms, and still be back by the muster drill. I doubt there will be a lot of kids trying to swim while waiting for this cruise to take off.

Who is in charge of the FE? I forgot.

Also, how do these upgrades work?
We are also interested in doing that, since we are a lowly Cat 11B right now.
Do you pay extra for the upgraded room?
Are they on a first come, first served basis?

Upgrades at port are a first come, first served basis. If one is available, you pay for it right there. Since you are in a lower category, there should be something higher for you to upgrade to. We have a big porthole, but I really want a veranda. It will all depend on price and availability.

I think DCShel is in charge of the FE. You can PM her your current room number and if any changes are needed, her room is on the FE list to let her know about changes.

I saw that too and after I did a little searching through the posts she (Deb in IA) listed 6004 as her room number.

Ok Mean game on... its going to be a race to the upgrade desk.....:banana::banana:

If you're after an upgrade, I would get to the port early. They must have assigned all of the VGT rooms earlier this week (Sunday / Monday), as the available rooms dropped from 34 down to 12. There are still 11 Category 4 rooms that show up, so there has to be at least that many rooms currently available. (Although with DCL, you never know?)
If you do get an upgrade at port, and are particiapting in the FE, I would suggest that when you make your deliveries, you put a note in our fish extenders noting your change. I would hate to not deliver to someone because I didn't check the disboards last minute for changes? :surfweb:
You won't need to race us to port, we'll be quite happy to stick with our SPH connector's. I suspect we may spend a lot of time with my inlaws in their Verandah cabin. :cloud9:

It's on! :thumbsup2 :rotfl2: I had to tell DH we can not be at the port by 8 am because from what I've read that port is crazy until after 9. It's not like Port Canaveral with all the wonderful Disney magic that makes it run smooth.

Anyone know the answer to this question?
For the tea party tickets.... can I get tickets for multiple cabins or does there have to be a representative from each cabin? We have 7 cabins traveling together and I was going to get all of the tickets but don't want to stand in line only to be told I can't!

I am so excited about this trip!!!! We got back from a week at the beach last night so I'm trying to change gears, wash clothes and repack for a totally different climate!!!!!! I will get it all done, right?

ONE WEEK TO GO!!!

You all can duke it out for the upgrades!

Maybe if Shay moves up to a verandah, then we can get her porthole room!
A domino effect!

My husband called this morning, and among the movies we are supposed to see onboard are Brave and Chimpanzee - two on my must see list!

Just got back from a long weekend in the Upper Pennisula of Michigan! 8 1/2 hours in the car today. Time to do laundry and repack for our flight on Friday afternoon.

Glenn - good suggestion about leaving me a note for a change in stateroom. However, we'll be in the race to port, hoping for an upgrade as well. Maybe we should ask that all stateroom changes be addressed at the Meet & Greet at 3:00 on Monday. I can update the room numbers then and pass out lists to everyone.

Deb - I'll get your stateroom added to the FE list. Sorry!

I'm not holding my breath for an upgrade to a verandah but it would be nice. If we don't get one, I'll be happy with our SPH room. I thought I'd try to get to port around 10:00 based on what I've read on other threads. I'm also hoping NOT to encounter any issues when I (a Platinum member) uses the Concierge line to check in at port. I've been reading horror stories on other threads about nasty CMs refusing to allow this. According to DCL's website, this is still listed as a benefit for Platinum cruisers and I will check in there!

So glad to hear that we're in for a special treat in Victoria! How cool that they're having fireworks! We do not plan to get off the ship that evening. There's just too much going on onboard the last night. I hate that there's a port that day but I understand why they had to do it.

I got tickets for extra rooms on one cruise we did. You just need the room numbers and the names and how many tickets for each room you need.

I am so EXCITED that Brave will be onboard!! :cheer2: Ever since I saw the trailer, I've been hoping that it would be on the ship! I'm also glad Chimpanzee will be shown onboard, too!

Any others that you can remember? I'm hoping Avengers is on there still.
