Oh my gosh! Two more weeks!

We are going down to the port Saturday to watch the Magic sail away. I am so curious! I've sailed DCL twice, from Florida. I know what to expect in Florida. I'm 40 minutes away from San Pedro so we are going to have dinner down at the Port of Call. And we'll just drive around.

My parents will be dropping us off 6/25. I want to find a place for them to have dinner and watch us sail away.

Anyway, here's our info:

ME DW 42
DH 44
DS 15
DD 6

Have a good dinner and wave hello to the Magic for us all. We are just an hour or so away from the port, but getting down there on a Saturday afternoon, eeh, probally not, too much else to do!

Hi everyone!

Well, we went to port today to watch the Magic sail off. I am so use to sailing out of Port Canaveral I just wanted to see what this was like. I am also having my parents drop us off at port and they are going to lunch and watch us sail away at the Port of Calls. As soon as I came down to our exit, we saw the Magic from the freeway. She's the ONLY beautiful thing in that port, trust me!

We got there around 4:30 and drove passed all the restaurants and fish markets. I wanted to pick the farthest restaurant, closer to the open channel. I was glad we did. We had a wonderful early dinner outside. We could see a wonderful view of the Magic.

About 4:50 the stacks started blowing heavy black smoke and about 5:10 the whistle blew and she started SLOWLY moving.

When sailing out of PC in Florida, the Magic moves fast! We noticed there were many maneuvers in this tight port and she moved very slowly! Slowly she sailed passed us and we waved to a lot of people! We were the only ones waving at this restaurant so my daughter was excited! She was yelling "see you in 2 weeks!". It took her 45 minutes or more for her to leave our site. Like she zig zaged out of the port. Very interesting! California is so ho hum. Everyone at the restuarant was so non interested. When we were yelling for her to "blow your horn again!" :cheer2:

And after my kids teased me about the tears in my eyes, we left, me hinting I want to come back next Saturday too :sad2: :earseek:  DH reminded me that maybe I would need to pack. Oh yeah! SHOP and pack :earboy2:

I went shopping today! Got an outfit at Nordstrom for the formal night - fancy blue top to wear with dressy pants I already have. Also got a casual outfit with palm trees + sequin fringe on the shirt and pants & some green sandals at Nordstrom's sale! Last week I got a shirt & tie for DS5 at Burlington Coat Factory, for formal night. He will wear it with school pants. I'm running out of time & need to start packing soon.

well I got the suitcase out today and put a few things in it. We still have 12 days but I have gotten started. I have gotten a few cabin # and I am sure there are a lot more out there on our cruise lets hear from you we want to meeting everyone.

I very much appreciate you gathering the cabin info for the group. I made some alien green name tags for dh, dd and me. I am not sure they turned out that great but they will do for the first day of the meet.
See you there.

this cruise has not had very good weather on the ship so far we have another week lets hope it inproves. We should be thinking about maybe having another get together on sea days if weather is not good for swimming.

What I have been reading made it sound like the weather has been good except for the first and last days. And I hope we are out of "June Gloom" by then. But this has been the weirdest weather I can remember in the 33 years I have lived in California, so who knows!!

Hi Everyone,

I've been busy the last couple of days and haven't had time for more than a quick peek at the boards. Like everyone else I've been picking at preparing for the cruise; not packing of course, that would be too organized. :rotfl2: I've picked up some last minute things and started a list to guide the kids in their packing. Laura does her own packing with just a little help. "How many pairs of shorts Mom? Do these shoes match this dress?", kind of stuff. Tom picks out what he wants to take, then I remove half of it and put in what he really needs. :rolleyes1

I have to agree that this has been a weird year, weatherwise. One day it will be sunny and hot, like into the 90s (we are inland) and the next it stays cloudy and barely breaks 60. Same old June Gloom, just more so than usual. It's gotten to the point that I don't know what to wear anymore.

Gotta run and get ready for work. Just 2 more days! :Pinkbounc

Ok FINALLY...we got our docs!! I had to go get them myself from the travel gal...she was alittle ditzy! Oh it seems so real now...actually it seemed real when one of my girls said that we leave in 12 days...no we have a couple more weeks I said...yikes it is closer than I thought!
My kids have only 3 more days of school and time is getting close!Oh so much to do! I keep reading these boards and I swear I come up with more questions after reading all the threads for hours.
Does anyone know there dining rotation yet? We have the main seating...at least that's what I was told according to the docs. I think thats the 6pm seating???
Michelle :mickeybar

My family and another family are going on this cruise with kids 4 kids ages 7-10. Looking forward to it. Hope the weather will be nicer than past cruises, however having been born and raised and still living in Southern California this is so typical.

Maureen

Yes Maureen, you are right...so typical! Juen gloom...clears about 1:00 or 2:00 and gets hot. Sweatshirt in the morning, tank tops in the afternoon.
All together I'll be traveling with 7 kids: 2yr girl, 5yr boy and girl, 6yr boy, 10yr girl, (2)13yr girls.....no they aren't all mine but that's our whole group (16 of us altogether)
Michelle

Welcome Maureen, the more the merrier! So glad you finally got your docs Michelle. I think you win the prize as the last to get "docified". The reallity that we are really going on this cruise is finally sinking in, just a little over a week!!

We've had a busy couple of weeks. Between schools ending, (between the 4 of us we have 4 different school schedules) Boy Scouts, field trips, finals, home improvement, ect it never ends. DD Laura finnished two weeks ago. DH graduated from Cal State LA this last weekend. It's been a long hard road working full time and going to school and it's not over though till he gets his masters, uhhgg. DS, Tom has one more day of school till promotion on Thursday. He will be moving on to middle school next year and I'm not sure who's more nervous, him or me! Vacation is looking better and better.

You don't know dining rotations till you get onboard. I think it is on your KTTW card you get when you check in, or was it on a card in your stateroom. :confused3 Either way you don't know till you get there. We have main seating as well, and yes it is the earlier one. This was at the request of the kids; seemed that on our other cruises (not DCL) they either missed out on some of the kids programs, or had to skip or cut short dinner when we had late seating. The only problem I see coming with this is it means an early character breakfast and early departure day breakfast. :earseek: We have a teen and a teen-in-the-making and I'm not waking them up if I don't have to! It'll be the buffet for them!

Well on Thur we will be into sdm meaning 9 days till go till it is our turn to board the magic. Time seems to be moving slowly for me this week. Grandkids have gone to their dads school was out last Fri. I am keeping busy but I will be glad when our cruise gets here. I just booked another cruise the short 3 day cruise over Thanksgiving week end. My great niece has never been on a cruise and this will be a early granduation gift for her she will granduate high school June 2007. She is from Ind and I am bring her in a day before thanksgiving who knows what the weather will be like then in that part of the country. Well our group is growing wellcome to everyone that has just joined us in the last few days. Well better get ready to go to bed everyone have a great day tomorrow.

Ok so I played on the "ditzy" AAA gal and asked what our dining rotation was. :rolleyes1 (I thought that was info you got when on the ship) She called DCL or whatever number she has as a contact and was told we have L,AP,PC but that it was subject to change. So that would mean AP for formal night right? Isn't formal on Sunday night? So we get L for Pirate night?pirate:
I guess I should just be patient and wait....ya right!
What color luggage tag does everyone have? I wonder if that could be a clue....we have yellow. Ok so yes...I'm the one at Christmas time who tries to find out what my Christmas present is! :rotfl2:
Michelle

If that is the case I have yellow luggage tags also my dd says I want to know everything before we go that is right I like to know. I am going to post on the board and see if anyone things that is how they put you in dinner rotation. I like that rotation if that is what we will get. I am going to do paper work on line today and see how that goes.

OK, I'm offically off work for the summer.   Now I can start getting more done; can't start packing till I've caught up on that mountain of laundry in the garage though. We have Tom's promotion tommorrow, then I have a week to get it all together. DH has to work until the 25th, but the kids and I should be able to get a handle on things around here.

We have yellow luggage tags as well, but I wouldn't think that that should have any bearing on your dining rotation, but then what do I know. :confused3 I'm thinking that if they mean anything it is most likely to aid in delivering luggage and has something to do with cabin location, ie deck, fore or aft, starboard or port. Just a guess. Or maybe they are just messing with us and they are all yellow.

Cheryl

I put it out on the main board and they said it goes by age how they set up the dinner rotation. They put all the younger kids in the same place at the same time. We have a 4 year old I wonder rotation we will get. Well I have yellow tags also we are mid ship I don't know what that means. Well we just have 9 more days from tomorrow till we find out for sure.
