June 22 Magic (Western)

Are we the only one's who don't have documents yet? This is so not fair!!!!!!:( :( :( :( :( We live just outside of Pittsburgh! Oh well, maybe today? My little sister and I are now finished with school. The next thing to look forward to is the Disney Cruise! Its hard to believe that we're almost in June. The weather feels like June but the year has gone so fast! I'm nervous about flying. This will be my first time flying since 9|11. In a way though I always have a real safe feeling on airplanes. Plus, my dad has to travel all the time with his job and he says that security is really tight at all airports especially Orlando.

Praying for the documents to come and counting down the days...

Hey there, what is going on? Just got home from Bunco and I did not win anything. :( Anyway, 3 weeks and I know I won't be able to sleep at the Radisson, I will be so excited to get up to get on that ship!! Well, countdown to packing. Have a great night!!!

Finally doing the "document happy dance" with everyone else! The documents came at last! It felt so good to be reading that book "Your guide to the Disney Magic" or something like that. 3 weeks from today and we'll be in Orlando!!!:D :D :D :D :D :D :D

Did everyone on the east coast survive the storms yesterday? Around here we had a really bad one. One of the rides at the amusement park near my house (Kennywood) collapsed!!!! The roof just caved in from all the wind. One person died. People are out there today trying to figure out if it was a tornado or a mircoburst because our area had a tornado warning about right at the same time that that happened. Fortunatly our house didn't get it that bad.

Counting down the days...

Hey.... IT'S JUNE!!!!!!!!! :) ;) :) ;) :) ;) :)

Aren't we cruising this month? In only a few weeks, and days for that matter?

:Pinkbounc :D :bounce:

Nicole, glad to hear the document dance is going well in Elizabeth, PA. Sorry to hear about the Whip at Kennywood. I grew up in the Pittsburgh area (Oakmont) and went to Kennywood every year. I still have a lot of great memories of the place. The Whip was a classic older ride.

Take Care... everyone have a great week!!! We are closer than ever to the DISNEY MAGIC!!

Here we are 20 days away !! We can make it, we have waited this long. I am the DB of LinnyLye, and the DS of Debbie H. We are members of the DVC since '92. I am an 18 year old, male, college student (Ursinus College class of '05).

Just wanted to say hi to you all. And quick question, what is with the lime green ribbons, is that for everyone to know if you are part of the DIS or not??

See you real soon !!!!!

Wes H.

Disney, Rush (gotta support the ditto heads), and Lacrosse, is there more??

Good morning everyone! Three weeks from from this morning we will be pulling into Key West!! I have a very important dress question for all you ladies out there! Lyndsay and I were shopping yesterday and I found the most incredible formal dress at the Jessica McClintock store. Lyns "forced" me to try it on and said she never saw me look so good. Coming from a 16 year old that was quite a compliment. This dress is long and very formal...my question is, will I feel too dressed up on formal night? I didn't buy it, but the mall isn't that far away!!!
My school countdown is down to 3 1/2 days....then I can start some serious packing!
Have a great Sunday!

Beth:D

Hi Beth,
I am the other 16 yo Lindsey's mother. I think your dress will be fine. Everyone dresses the way they want to. We usually dress formal for those nights. The guys wear their tux and we wear formal dresses. Some people prefer not to do that but hey, how often do you get to go formal? Dressing up formal on the cruise is in many respects pretending it is the great days of transatlantic steam ships! So go for it...we are!

Debbie :bounce: :Pinkbounc

Hey Beth, Go for it!! I am not a long dress person myself, I picked out a spaghetti strap sparkly black/fuscia dress with the slanted cut at the bottom for my formal, I also have a spaghetti strap black velvet short dress for the other dressy night. DH will wear a dark suit for formal night with a white shirt and tie and probably a slight tan suit for the other night. DS will wear a black suit one night w/tie and white shirt. Anyway, whatever goes!!! Wow, less than 3 weeks we will be leaving!! Can't believe it. Well, have a great day everyone............

Beth (Corl4),
Good luck with the end of school, I finished about a month ago, and have been lookin forward to cruisin'. And you mean to tell me you haven't started packing yet??? I started almost a week ago haha!!!

As for your formal night dilemma, the way I see it, go all out for the formal night. Like my DM, Debbie H. said, how often do you really get to do this kinda stuff. I have the most fun every year trying to pick out which tux I want to wear, and which vest and tie will go best with what. The formal night is a lot of fun, and you can tell everyone is in a perpetual state of "Look at me, Look at me" that evening. In some respects, this could be one of the most fun evenings/meals on the ship, so why not go for it!!

Also keep in mind that there are actually two formal nights on the ship. The first (three weeks from tonight!!! :D :smooth: ), and the second a few days later (on the eastern cruise last June it was on the Thursday night). The first formal night is the one where everyone goes all out, and the second one most people go all out again, where as some will go a little more casual. I personally like to go all out both nights, but you can do what you want. So you have many options here, you can go all out the first night (with the Jessica McClintock ;) ), and go a little more casual the second night with a nice cocktail dress or something; you can use this as an excuse to get two dresses (and I apologize to your family for this one); or you can where the same dress the second night, which is something alot of people do anyway.

I hope I was able to help ya out, and if you have anymore questions I will be happy to assist. E-mail me at wesley_harden@hotmail.com or IM me BuddyWRH !!!

See ya real soon !!!!

Less than three weeks !!!! :bounce: :Pinkbounc :D  :smooth:

Hey, Beth!
How are you sweetie? Listen, I think that if your 16 yr old thought you looked fabulous in that dress, then you just HAVE to get it! DH and I are getting all gussied up on Monday night --him in a tux and I will be in a sequined top and formal black skirt. On Thursday night I am going to wear a simple blue gown, and on Palo's night I am wearing the formal black skirt with a white silk blouse and a shimmery purple jacket. We LOVE being grown ups on this trip! And, aren't you celebrating a birthday this trip? What day is it?

Hey, Wes--
welcome aboard! Wow, are you sure you are only 18? I love your outlook.
As for the green ribbons-- the DISers have a tradition of wearing lime green (hard to find, ours are more like a bright kelly green) on safety pins on their shirts at the DIS meet at the sailaway party--deck 10 overlooking the goofy pool on starboard side. If your family needs green ribbons and safety pins, let me know. I still have lots and enjoyed sending to about 8 families on this thread. Just email me at keenercam@aol.com. BTW, if your family is going to be in town the night before, a bunch of us are staying at the Radisson and meeting for drinks by the pool--others who are not staying there, may stop over to say hello.
So, have you found the perfect tux and accessories yet? Last year, DH bought a tux (that he had to just have seriously altered to a smaller size) and got 2 sets of accessories--good thing, too, because our friend Steve forgot his accessories entirely, so they each wore one set on Sunday night and then swapped on Thursday night :)
On the western itinerary, Monday night is formal night and Thursday night is semi-formal, but that won't stop us :p Wednesday night is tropical.
Well, guys, even though I am spending this Sunday afternoon in my office, my heart is with the Magic in Key West!!!
:bounce: :Pinkbounc

Roberta, did you see that Morty and Mousketeer nights are switched? YIPPEE!!!!!

Hey everyone!
Thanks for all your thoughts on my dress dilemma! You helped me make up my mind...I'm goin' for it!!! Now I just have to find the time to get back to the mall. It's 45 minutes from my house. I am going to spend the morning tomorrow calling some of the local bridal shops to see if they have it or if they can get it for me before I run back to Philly. Since I am only 5"2, it will have to be shorten, of course, so I'm under a little pressure as far as time goes! Send some "pixie dust" my way that all goes according to plan!
Cam: I am celebrating a birthday the day before we leave for FL...June 17!! So this dress is the perfect gift to myself!
Wes: Thanks for the male perspective! I'm echoing Cam's thoughts here...are you sure you are only 18? We have relatives in York County so I know where Hanover is! My aunt often shops at a clothing store there...can't remember the name!
Debbie H - Looking forward to meeting you and your family. I know that your Lindsey and my Lyndsay have talked on IM!
Have a great week everyone..talk to you soon!
Beth:)

I thought when I read somewhere that Morty show was going to be on Key West night, I think on Barb and Tony's posting. Anyway, we just went through Ralph's wardrobe and we have all his clothes set aside. Need to make a trip to the cleaners with the suits and shirts and pants to have some cleaned, and the others pressed. Easier to have the pants and shirts for DH and DS pressed and all in plastic bags, then no ironing on the ship. Just need to get DD and DS casual clothes situated and then the odds and ends. Bought the disposable cameras for the kids today and found a Disney Golf Tie for DS. So things are starting to look more organized!! :o) Keep in touch......... Hey Cam, did you update that spreadsheet on everyone going? Maybe you can send us each an email with the attachment of the spreadsheet so we can see who is all going and who is staying at the Radisson. That would be great if you could. Thanks.........

Hello everyone,

I have posted over at cruisecritic and they recommended me to post here. I have been very busy as the school year is wrapping up (I'm a high school principal.) We are very excited about our first cruise.

Oh yeah, I should introduce ourselves, Joe (that's me), Nicole and Alexandra (5 yrs old and looking for some friends onboard). I am a principal and Nicole is a teacher. We are both Disney fanatics, actually all 3 of us. I am also a Disney Vacation Club member.

Anyway, I'm rambling, we look forward to meeting everyone and having an enjoyable time. We are driving down and probably will stay the night prior near Cocoa Beach.

Hope to hear and see everyone soon.

Joe

Hello Joe,

Welcome to the site, and it is nice to hear that you are finally taking the plunge to cruising. You won't regret it, and neither will your family. It is also nice to see another DVC member. As for your staying in Cocoa Beach the night before we set sail (which ladies and gents is only 19 days away!!!), I suggest the Radisson, I believe that it is closer to the Disney Terminal for the ship than Cocoa Beach, however I could be wrong. Anyway everyone usually stays there the night before, and it is a great way to get a jump on meeting people, especially from this forum. My family and I however stay at OKW for at least a few days before we cruise. We arrive at OKW on the 14th. Well happy cruisin', see ya onboard!!!!

Hello everyone! We just picked up all of our documents for the land and sea portion of our trip!!:D Can you tell we are sooo excited!!!:bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce:

We will be arriving on the 15th of June so our countdown is only 12 more days!!!

Clark is pretty much packed, took his stuff to the dry cleaners today. Kyle is half done but he keeps trying to do it all himself and take everything!! You know a six year old needs it all! I still have to pack me but everything is hanging in the spare room ready to go.

Looking forward to seeing everyone on deck 10 for the sail-away party!

Kristina

Kristina, have a great time in Disney before the cruise. I know what you mean about the clothes situation. My 17 year old wants to bring everything, you know he has to look good!!! Anyway have a safe trip and see you and Clark on the 10th deck at the sailaway party!!! Wearing our green ribbons, of course!!!

Hello everyone;
We got a call today from AAA that our documents are in...but we will pick them up tomorrow...can't wait...WE ARE VERY EXCITED:bounce: :Pinkbounc

Our kids are going bonkers and asking a lot of questions about the trip...can't wait:D

I would say everyone who are going on this cruise should be getting their documents this week...there's very little days left before the trip!:earsboy:

The five j's

Hi Again,
I sure have missed reading these boards. Our computer was down for a few days and I didn't have time at work to catch up on everyone. Glad almost everyone has their documents and are as excited as we are to be going. My mother is here visiting from Idaho and my sister and nephew will be in this weekend. They are all staying until the day before we leave for Disney so it is kind of hectic to say the least. I'm trying to plan sightseeing for the family and keep all the Disney stuff in line at the same time.
Definitely will look forward to relaxing on this trip. We bought a new digital camera this weekend so have been playing with it so that we can be pros by the time we sail.

Yvonne

Hello, everyone!

This must be the day for Ohioans to get their documents. My TA from AAA called when I got home from school today and said that the documents had arrived. My mom and I are doing the happy dance! We are going to AAA tomorrow to pick up the documents and make the reservations for the excursions. Hopefully, the Grand Cayman Land and Sea Tour and the Cozumel Chankanaab Sea Lion Discovery excursions will still be available. I am in the midst of finishing progress reports for my first graders. My first graders are ready for summer vacation as much as I am! My last day of school is Thursday. Last week I helped plan a retirement cruise for two teachers in my building. The cruise was a trip on the Maumee River in Toledo. It wasn't quite the Disney Magic, but everyone had a great time. I am also in the process of making a photo collage for my niece who is graduating from high school this Sunday. Her graduation party is Saturday. After this Sunday, my mom and I can start preparing for our trip to Florida. We leave for Florida on the 15th. We are driving to Florida. It takes about 17 hours from here so we will do it in two days. We will probably stop south of Atlanta the first night. We are going to stay at the Comfort Inn & Suites by Old Town. We are planning on visiting Cypress Gardens, SeaWorld, and Universal Studios before the cruise.

Looking forward to the Sailaway Party on board! It sounds like there will be a lot of teachers on the cruise from reading the posts on this thread.
