June 22, 2010 - 5-night to Key West

what can my husband wear for formal night? dont want to pack his suit cuz im picky bout dry cleaners. lots of places burn suits which leaves them shiny. how bout a dress shirt and nice gray pants??? hoping to leave his jackets at home. found a cute pirate shirt for $5 at children's place this week for the baby so that will b his outfit for pirate night.also got my baby his first pair of crocs for the beach. cont focus at work these days my brain keeps thinking "cruise, cruise, cruise"

That is fine for him.
Do they say it's formal night, semi-formal night or dress-up night? We don't have our documents for the cruise yet, so I can't check.

I looked at my cruise docs and they do not say anything about the attire for any of the nights (it just gives the ports). But I was looking at one of the recently posted 5-day Navigators (from a Double Dip) and all the nights are Cruise Casual except for pirate night ("Pirate/Cruise Casual) and one night that says "Optional Dress Up."

My husband and three boys are wearing grey slacks and black button-ups with red ties. I'm wearing a cocktail dress. It's as dressy as I want to pack for! ;)

Thanks for that. Now we know that there is no true Formal night on this cruise.
As much as I tell people to check the Navigator's and this is the one time I didn't do it. :confused3 :headache: :dance3:

some threads said:
On the 5-Night Key West Cruises:

Day 1: Casual Night
Day 2: Casual Night
Day 3: Semi-Formal Night
Day 4: Pirate Night
Day 5: Casual Night

Another website also indicated there would be the usual three rotation dinners, the pirate menu, and the "'Til We Meet Again" menu on the last night.

Our experience is that it's a pretty mixed bag on Wonder. Some folks dress up and others don't. It's really up to you. We've gone both ways. This time we booked Palo on the "dress up" night so we only have to worry about dressing nice one night.

Cmon...pictures Everyone!!! Post em!! :thumbsup2

One word to describe FL right now HOT. Arrived safely yesterday afternoon and the heat index was around 104 at 5:00. Supposed to be this way the rest of the week, with the weekend being a couple of degrees cooler.

I leave in just 5 days! We are staying at the POP Century for a few days first! We are so close now! I almost cant stand the wait!

Has everyone started packing yet? I have not but only because my son and I came down with an illness that knocked us flat on our backs! Glad we got it this week and not next!

We leave one week from today. We have to get through our DD birthday party on Saturday. We are all so excited. We have been planning this trip for so long and now it is here.

We also leave in 5 days (and we, or I should say mostly "I" was in bed with the flu last week, first time in years). I have most of our cruise clothes packed (the stuff we'll wear to dinner), except for shoes. Then I just have to pack our "world" stuff (mostly shorts, t-shirts, bathing suits). But if I start packing too soon, my kids won't have anything to ear this week! :rotfl:

Just got done booking new flights for Friday because Spirit Airlines is on strike. Now we're flying USair and wind up getting in so early we'll have an extra day at WDW. At Bay Lake Tower from Friday to Tuesday morning and then to the port! The kids are almost done school and we are all very excited. Now we have to start packing (uh-oh). Looking forward to meeting many people. I haven't been on the board for a while so I just found out about the bracelets but I will look for you on the ship!

Pack loads of sunscreen and cool clothes.
We went to Epcot yesterday and the crowds weren't bad at all. We got there around 2pm and there were rows of empty parking places. Now the wait for Soarin' was still 120 minutes, so people clearly are at the parks. That was the only wait time we noticed, too hot to stand and wait for the board to change.
We did find some shade to sit under and it wasn't as bad there, and there were spots that we noticed a breeze.
Just remember to stay hydrated. Not sure if everyone knows or not, but if you eat at a sit-down restaurant in the parks that you can ask for another drink to go or even just a cup of water. We were talking with a castmember that we know and he didn't know you could do that.

I guess today might be a good day to start getting our clothes together for the cruise, or at least start thinking about it.

Record high's down here yesterday :headache: . Today's heat index is supposed to be 105-109. The sea breeze is sounding refreshing right now.

That's whats making packing so challenging...one set of clothes for the cruise, and another bare-minimal set for WDW. Ahhh....feeling fortunate to be faced with such a challenge, though! :) Just gotta make it through today and tomorrow at work then I'm OFF (we don't leave until Saturday night but as far as I'm concerned, one minute past my last work day Vacation Begins!!)

I haven't heard or paid any attention to what the temps are at KW. I have a friend down there right now so I might have to check in with him to get it.

MK did have rain yesterday afternoon. It was dry here at the house and as we drove past the Contemporary the road was wet and there were puddles everywhere. We are only 2.2 miles from the Contemporary and are used to how the rain falls at MK and not here or vice-versa. Not sure if any of the other parks had rain or not.

David E. Doss will be the Guest Artist of DCL & West End Gallery on this sailing. He will be releasing his NEW "Castaway Cay" image, and several Original paintings will be in the art auction.
