June 22, 2010 - 5-night to Key West

spiify i work on a pediatric floor that is 1/3 epilepsy patients. if u need anything while on the cruise let me know.

Hi Spiiffy, congrats on the upgrade! Cat 4 is nice because you get an extra bit of length to the cabin. Sorry to hear about your son's epilepsy, that's got to be frightening.

We're starting to pack too. My husband went out and bought toiletry mini's yesterday!

It looks like it'll be a full cruise. I watch on travelocity all the time and they've only been showing the inside cabins for about a week now. But today they show oceanview and the DCL site shows a cat 1 available which means some very rich person cancelled and lost their deposit! Can't imagine that.

So looking forward to meeting everyone!

I am a sewer. My girls asked for matching outfits for the trip, so I have been sewing new clothes for them for just about every day!! I haven't really started packing, but I have about 4 different lists of things to do. Once I get the clothes done, I will probably start packing. I hope that is before the night before we leave!

Way to go on the upgrade. That is awesome.

Packing....have not even thought about that yet. I guess that is on the agenda for the week of the 14th. Still have a week of school left with exams being that week. This has been quite a year and I can not wait to get on the boat.

Got some of my FE, but having a hard time coming up with the rest. I think the idea that I want to be crafty needs to change and go with a different idea.

As my DD says "Mommy there is one more day less till we go on the cruise..." She is excited and so are all of we.

Packing...?!? I'm thinking more about what to pack for my cruise next month than this cruise.
DD still have 4 more days of school, so we are still in school mode.

As I was cleaning my kitchen just now, my 7-year-old came downstairs and turned on the DVD player- he started playing the WDW Vacation Planning DVD. Now, this is old, from our first ever trip to WDW, and it was the YOAMD, so in the background I'm hearing this music, and the voiceover talking about the YOAMD, and I got sooooooo sentimental. That was an amazing trip (we also did the cruise that year). OK, now I am TOTALLY in a Disney mood! :)

Oh, and yes, I have started my packing "piles" beginning with the boys' "formal" (just slacks and black button-up shirts). We leave for FL in 15 days and I CANNOT wait!! :) :) :)

I like bringing the pop-up laundry hampers just to keep the dirty clothes situation (husband and 3 boys = mess!) under control. My husband loves those waterproof card/cash cases with a rope to carry around his neck (the ones the size of a pack of playing cards); we spend so much time in our bathing suits its nice not having to worry about losing that precious key!

Ok, here's where you see my project manager side :crazy2:
Hilighters are on it but also

• Febreeze or air freshener
• Singles (bills) for tips when ordering room service
• Large baggies for wet clothing if they do not dry in time when you depart the ship
• A night lite if needed
• Purell - even though they have it all over the ship its nice to have it in the room as well
• Over the door shoe hanger (clear) to throw lanyards and other small items into and keep the desk more clear.
• Power strip - to multiply the few outlets in the room, this is a must
• Whiteboard for door to leave msgs for others or post-its
• Sunscreen
• pop-up laundry hamper
• ziplocks in larger sizes- to keep thing dry and sand-free on excursions
• small light up travel clock (clock in room doesn't light up)
• downy wrinkle release spray
• over the door hooks for robes, etc
• tide for laundry
• travel sewing kit
• small first aid kit,

Laura

• travel sewing kit

Laura, that's a great call! As we were getting ready for Palo my husband's shirt lost a button. There are NO sewing kits on that ship; I think our stateroom steward was able to find a needle and thread for me, but it wasn't easy!

Here's a pic. I'll be mailing them out Monday. If anyone else is interested who hasn't already ordered you can still get them, $2 each (we have about 20 left) if you PM me with your name, address and number of wristbands wanted and I'll PM you my paypal address. Can only do paypal at this point since it's so close to our cruise and we won't have enough time to ship if I wait for a check.

Thanks

love the bracelets- well done!!! we bought walkie talkies to bring on the cruise and my ds (7) has been having fun with them in the mean time with kids on the block. :hourglass

I love the bracelets and cannot wait to receive them! I think we'll be in full-on countdown mode when they arrive! (My son is still watching the vacation DVD as I type).

I've also been working on our door magnets *and* turning into a mini-meteorologist (checking the hurricane forecast daily). Ah vacations.... :)

Quit watching the hurricane forecasts, it can really stress you out. All you need to remember for now is that FL has been really hot and humid. OK, not as hot as where you are right now but the humidity has been high.
I go down this Sunday so that's when I'll worry about the storm forecasts.

I know JillJill :)...to be honest, I really watch out for the weather for our flight in, because I'm not a great flier. We fly in 2 days ahead of time so we should be okay, even in case of delay.

As far as the cruise itself, I would care if we circled around the ocean for 5 days sailing away from bad weather; I'm just looking forward to just being on the ship!

You're heading down this Sunday!? Safe travels!!! :)

Yes going down Sunday and we will be there 4 weeks. We have a house down there so gotta use it when we can.

We are looking forward to relaxing on this cruise. At least I'm looking forward to relaxing, DD is looking forward to talking to CM's that we know on the ship.

Lucky you JillJill! We are kicking it into high gear now in preparing for the cruise. Been working on FE gifts and magnets. Plan to start packing this weekend. DH wants me to go clothes shopping with him ( a very rare event) so I know it's getting close.
