June 21, 2011 - The Wonder breaks the Alaskan icebergs!

I just moved our cruise from this one to June 7th to take advantage of the Kids Sail Free Promotion. Saved so much money I can now easily justify our Dream cruise in August. Wasn't sure how we were going to fit 2 cruises in this year but it all works out.

I hope everyone has a wonderful cruise .. best of luck on all your planning. I really have to go check out the ports now that we are sailing 2 weeks earlier .. yikes =)

Welcome Kerri-

I have twins (b/b) that will be 13 at the time of our cruise this summer, just thought it was cool that we both have twins about the same age. :clown:

I have twins also (g/g) that will be 16 at the time of the cruise! Any other families with teens on this cruise?

It looks like a twin-filled cruise! That will be fun:)

My twins won't be 13 until November, so not dreaded teenagers yet:woohoo:

Thanks for the welcomes,
Kerri

Is there any way to look at the options for Disney excursions before being paid in full? We are making the final payment next week, and can book 90 days out (in March), but I am curious as to what's being offered.

www.disneycruise.com => click on Cruises & Destinations. In the drop-down menu, center column is Port Adventures. Click on that, scroll down, and choose one of the categories under port adventures on the left side of the page, or choose a port from the drop-down on the right side of the page.

Thanks! That's a big help. I've clicked and clicked and don't know how I managed to miss that.

No problem! I spent a fair amount of time clicking everything a few weeks ago :rolleyes1

I will have a DD16 and a DD18, and I also received a PM from Twinparents a few weeks ago, who said she would be on this cruise too. She has twins (b/g) as well who are 14. Four pairs of twins on the same cruise!

Wow, very cool!

Do we want to pick a deadline for sign ups for the FE? I know we did that for our last cruise so that we could determine how many items we needed to bring with us beforehand. Last time, I ordered canvas bags from Oriental Trading and then ironed on our cruise logo. Totally cute, but I'm not sure I have the energy to do something so involved this time.

We are still deciding on excursions. The kicker is that there's no infant rate, so all of my kids would have to pay for the excursions, and I know the six month old isn't going to get anything out of it! The excursion on the Deadliest Catch boat is EXCELLENT for anyone who was thinking about that one. My family (not me) did this on their last Alaskan cruise and said it was the best excursion they'd ever taken. I would have signed up for that one, but it's only for kids age 5 and above.

All of my airfare is now booked and paid for (woohoo!) so I'm getting close. I just have to pay for the remaining cruise fare and a hotel/rental car in Seattle.

Ginamarie, don't worry, Scarlett will be 10 months older than Owen and won't be getting anything out of the excursions either. So we can pay for nothing together! ;)

Joey would probably die to do the Deadliest Catch thing, but fat chance he's going anywhere alone, and Madison would have little interest to go with him. Henry would, but he'll be 6 weeks shy of 5yo, so no excursion for him.

Actually, we're thinking about flying into Seattle before the cruise (courtesy of your idea!) and Joey really wants to go on the Boeing tour, but no handheld babies allowed and no one under 48". So he might take Madison, but then not sure what the small ones will do with me. Sigh. So many restrictions!

DSister will be turning 13 in April. She will be happy to see kids her own age! There were very few older kids on our last cruise, because it was during April, while school is still in session.

Yeah, I'm still thinking about the excursions. I have another month before we can book anything so that's been put on the back burner while I work on reservations for our August WDW trip.

I didn't realize that about the Boeing tour! It was one of the things I was going to look into while we're in the Seattle area, but I guess I'll cross it off of my list. Luckily, there are lots of other things to see in the area.

Our booking date is coming up quickly, so I really need to get cracking on choosing stuff. It's hard though, cause everything I like has age restrictions. And I'd leave Scarlett behind (I'd stay with her and do something else, or my mom would), but even Henry is too little for some stuff.

Yeah, it's the same problem here. Olivia will turn five before the cruise, but Salvatore and Owen are too little for a lot of the activities. I actually used some of my amazon.com gift certificates to get a book about Alaska and activities at the ports (I gave it to myself for Christmas), and it's still sitting next to my bed unread!

I'm just hoping I will be able to sign up for a Palo brunch on one of our sea days. My mom hasn't made it to Palo brunch yet, and I'd like to take her.

I just paid the cruise in full!:banana:

I'll be on my computer at 9 pm (thank goodness for west coast time) on March 22nd to book Palo when booking opens at 12:01 am on March 23rd!

For those of you coming a great distance to see us here in the great Pacific Northwest, might I suggest you make a stop at the Experience Music Project right near the Space Needle in Seattle? It is awesome, and something all ages can participate in. There is a sci-fi museum attached that is also pretty amazing. Everyone does Pike Place Market to see the fish throwers, which can be fun, but I suggest riding the monorail from downtown out to the Seattle Center and take in the EMP.

For FE gifts and meet-up items, I propose we change the name of our sailing to

SUMMER SOLSTICE SAILAWAY

It lends itself to cuter graphics. Anyone with me?

Myself, DH and DD (10) are on this cruise. We're going up a couple of days early and staying at Pan Pacific. Got that awesome Travelzoo discount. Haven't booked airfare yet. Prices from Texas are crazy!

We got that deal, too. Same thing with air fare; $740 pp round trip from IA so we haven't booked anything yet. See you in Vancouver!

Henry's 5th birthday is just 6 weeks *after* the cruise. Lucky him. Some of the things I looked with age restrictions didn't even make sense. Like one was going to see totem poles and a lumberjack show. Why can't a 4yo go to that?
