June 2017 Disneyland Check In!!!

Okay, we have dates! We'll be there 6/10-6/16, staying at the Peacock.

We've stayed at the Peacock twice. The first time was when oldest was one and we bought our first APs. We used the ART that trip because we had the baby and my mom was with us. We stayed later that year for just a few days and since it was only DH and I we walked. It wasn't that bad of a walk, but probably a bit of a hike for little legs.

We've stayed there twice before, and will be there in two weeks, as well. It's on our Wyndham timeshare. Since I have a Signature AP, we're not planning to walk.

We'll be there May 31-June 6....Visiting LA and the beach on the weekend days after having visited the San Diego Zoo. At the Tropicana. Our friends will be there the last two days, so we are hoping to meet them for a lunch or something. I've started making dining ADRs, so we're beginning to be excited.

We're going to be there 5/30-6/3! :cool1: Maybe we'll bump into each other at the parks!

I've got 3 ADRs so far: Ariel's Grotto on Tuesday for lunch for ODD's birthday, Blue Bayou on Wed for lunch w/friends, and Minnie's character breakfast at the Plaza Inn at 10:00 am on Friday for YDD's birthday.

We're going to do lunch or dinner at Cafe Orleans on Saturday 6/3. I can't decide yet whether to do lunch or dinner that day. We have to check out of Hojo's by noon, I think. And I have to move the car out of their parking lot by 3pm. And when we're done at DL on 6/3, we're driving an hour to Fontana (it's near Ontario) to spend the night at our friends' house.

I'm also expecting that Saturday to be pretty busy crowd-wise, so I was kind of thinking that maybe we should to Cafe Orleans as a late lunch so we can take a nice break and eat outside and watch the world go by. Decisions decisions!

The first time we stayed there was through an RCI exchange with our timeshare. But it doesn't seem to pop up anymore. I am thinking I should get myself on a search so they'll notify me if anything in Anaheim comes up. Sometimes the Dolphin's Cove comes up, which is where we are staying with my mom through her Wyndham/Worldmark.

So I figured out why my husband blew me off about the cake idea - he wants to surprise me with one haha. My sister said something to me about my wanting a cake the other day and instantly my suspicions solidified. I won't let on to him I know - but I did send my sister the inspiration picture I was going to use lol.

What a sweet husband!!!

I've seen people mention there are times when WOC has two shows per night. When does that usually happen? Is it something we should expect to see by the end of June? Or is it more hit and miss, based on crowd levels?

Well our trip is canceled

I don't want to get into the details but we're going to have to postpone our trip. Maybe Christmas... maybe not. I have to go check to see how long my ticket is (I got it through Airmiles) good for.

I'm so sad

They should have two shows during June.

Am i the only one bummef about the extension of the electrical light parade. Really was hoping paint the night would be back as original elp end date was the day before we arrived.

nope, Im excited actually. I saw Paint The Night last year. I haven't seen Electrical Light Parade since my one and only trip to WDW way back in 1992 :)

No I think many people, including myself, have expressed sadness over this. I'm reminding myself they never promised PTN would be back. It could be that there was no parade at all. At least we have more than one night to choose to see MSEP instead of having to see it on our first night.

That sucks. We are still on the fence about whether or not we'll be making our trip or not.

With the electrical parade originally stayed until the 18th...I highly doubt they would have brought PTN back right away. So likely there would have been NO parade in late June. At least now there is something. So I am happy.

MSEP was going to be playing during my trip regardless, but I'm glad that the ending date won't fall quite so close to my trip now. I was worried about all the people planning last minute trips to see it. I'm actually really looking forward to watching it with DD11. She enjoys parades and I'm looking forward to watching one from my childhood with her. Normally I'm not a huge parade fanatic. I saw PtN last year and thought, "Meh."

My DH and I will at DL on 6/11 and 6/12. We will be in California 6/9-6/16 though. We are staying closer to Redondo Beach due to my cousin getting married there over the weekend. Neither one of us have every been to California so we are doing Disney, Universal Hollywood, and the San Diego Zoo. I know we have a ways to drive every day, but we are staying where the family is staying, however we are just super excited that we do get to visit Disneyland, as we go to WDW a lot!! I am about to hit my 60 day mark to make dining reservations and I am getting sooo very excited!!!

I am one of the semi-bummed ones. However, it was more on an emotional basis/reasoning.

I remembered the MSEP from my first trip when I was 7. I got to go back to DL when I was 16 (for my second trip), and I was sad that MSEP had ended the year before. Unbeknownst to me, my auntie had a CM friend who shared that MSEP would have a "farewell season" and the soft opening would be Spring Break week... when my parents were taking me. Mom didn't tell me this little tidbit; instead, she pretended to sympathize with me that it was sad that we didn't get to see it one last time since it was one of my only memories from my first trip. So, an hour or so before the show, she told me to go sit on the curb while we ate ice cream cones.... Lo and behold, here comes the parade right on time. I think I figured it out just moments before seeing the first floats coming up the street. I was blown away, and felt so loved that she planned and executed such an amazing surprise for me. Fast forward 21 years later (now). I still get misty-eyed when I think about that little stunt my mom pulled off. My mom passed away 10.5 years ago. I've been taking my daughter to DLR every other year or so, since it was a placed my mom adored, and a place I loved being with my mom, even if we had only gone twice. I'm going to DLR with my now-13-year-old daughter this summer. I heard MSEP would be back. I was sad that we were going to miss it by a mere 3 days. But, I got over it, and came to realize that I would likely be a big ole blubbery mess watching the parade without my mommy. (Seriously, tears now just thinking about it.) So, I was okay missing it.

Then they announced it was extended. And now I'm faced with two options: bawling my way through a viewing of the parade (daughter is excited to see it), or making sure I'm no where near the parade route 4 nights in a row to avoid it (which would be fairly hard). After much discussion, I think we will see it twice. First, just finding a spot and watching it one night. Hubby and daughter can watch it, and I can sit with my box of Kleenex and bawl my eyes out missing my mommy. Then, the next night, we will do the Blue Bayou dining package for the reserved seating for MSEP. Hubby and daughter will have a great view, as will I. I will have a box of Kleenex and bawl my eyes out maybe a little less... And maybe get some good pictures. I think daughter will think it's extra-special to see it knowing her Gammy and I saw it together.

So, sorry to be a Debbie Downer. But that's why I'm semi-bummed that it was extended....
