June 2011 No Buy Thread- Keeping our summer spending in check

A.Mickey, I missed that you had bought a condo. Congratulations! Good luck on the inspection tomorrow. :goodvibes Where's Piglet, we'll miss you. See you in a few weeks for the "No Buy, July" thread. :thumbsup2 charming, nice haul on the jewellery party. :)

Hmmmm. Seems I'm a bit over on the medical front. I had some dental work done in late May, and my jaw/around and below the ear has been killing me. I've tried a few things. I'm thinking it is a case of TMJ that flares up every now and then OR a sinus infection, and hoping it is NOT a root canal trying to take 'root'.

I am so far derailed. I'll be back in July. Good luck, everybody! :grouphug:

Awww, sorry to hear that. We'll miss you, but see you next month!

I finally got that haircut I've been longing for. First Choice Haircutters isn't bad at all!

Getting a new haircut feels great. I need to go get one, it's been waaayyyyy too long. I'm debating whether I should get highlights in my hair, dye it myself with a box bought at walmart, or just leave it natural...

Hello No Buy Friends! After a few months off I'm back. We're in our new house, all unpacked and ready to move forward with this phase of our life. I'm still a little iffy on my budget because I haven't gotten a set of utility bills for the new house yet. We're in a much bigger house in a new city with new providers, so I have no real idea what to expect. For this month, I'm hoping for 7 no buys and 7 days under $10. I'm so glad to be back!

June 1 $20 Dh's PT, $35 groceries, $7 took the boys to the movies- tickets were $1 each and I got us all a water to drink, $15 Subway after the movies.

June 2 $6 took the boys bowling- the games were free but I had to pay for shoe rental.

June 3 $40 groceries- had dinner with my parents, they wanted me to bring a few different things so I had to stop at the store and get a few misc. groceries.

June 4 $55 race fees for DH and both boys, $40 celebratory pancakes after the race.

June 5 $90 groceries. I'm hopeful tomorrow will be a no buy day. Getting back in to the swing of this is tough!

June 6 $25 gas- DH didn't know it was a no buy day and he put in some gas. Oh well! $11 car wash-since Dh ruined the no buy day, I figured I'd get my car washed.

June 7 $56 pet supplies, $40 Target, $20-took the boys to ride a local train, tickets are $.75 each, and then out to dinner

June 8 $175 groceries, $57 date night

June 9 $0 :cool1::cool1::cool1:

June 10 $45 supplies for oil changes in the cars. We actually bought enough to cover the next set as well, so we should be golden for awhile on oil changes. Tomorrow should be a no buy day because I have my nephews and DH has to work and there is NO WAY I'm taking 4 little boys 5 and under out of the house by myself.

June 11 $0 :cool1::cool1::cool1:

June 12 $0 :cool1::cool1::cool1: Took the boys to the local swim beach with a picnic. We had a great time and it was totally free!

June 13 $0 :cool1::cool1::cool1: We are starting to get into serious Summer sport season. Starting today, the boys have some type of practice or lesson 5 days a week. The good news is that I might not have the time to spend money!

Doesn't a fresh cut feel great? I need to get one myself.

Thanks, y'all. :grouphug: I am still tracking for myself. I'm just having a hard time posting it when it's all negative numbers and in red! :sad2:

However, I always tell the newbies not to give up mid-month, but to stick it out, so I'm considering coming back before July. I just need to figure out how to reconfigure it so it's not quite so discouraging.

My friend is coming later this week, so I'll probably sit out until the middle of next week, then I'll try to jump back in. I'm hoping we can keep the cost to a minimum. :scared:

I do local surveys and focus groups for $$. That money is always put in the change jug. So, I used $200 of that money to purchase Disney cards and I got 4 free gc tins (this weeks promo). And then it was back home in bed for most of the day.
06/13 $46.00 at Costco. $20 of it for grub killer, $10 for dinner. (love the chicken bakes. Plus, I was being lazy). The rest was for milk and stuff. This is the cheapest I have ever gotten out of Costo's. but, then again, I left my DH home. lol.

Nope. I've been trying to get my (broke, out-of-work son to figure that out  )

Lol.

Getting a new haircut feels great. I need to go get one, it's been waaayyyyy too long. I'm debating whether I should get highlights in my hair, dye it myself with a box bought at walmart, or just leave it natural...

If you could do your own highlights, that'd be really cool! Highlights are a great look for summer. I want to dye my hair, but I've never done it from the box before, so I'm scared to mess up.

June 13 $0 :cool1::cool1::cool1: We are starting to get into serious Summer sport season. Starting today, the boys have some type of practice or lesson 5 days a week. The good news is that I might not have the time to spend money!

Oh my gosh, 5 days a week! What kind of sports are they in?

Doesn't a fresh cut feel great? I need to get one myself.

Yes, it feels so good. My hair was really long and it was just getting too sticky.

:scared:

Can't wait to have you back with us!

A.Mickey, yay on the condo!

Wheres Piglet, you dont need to leave for the month because you are going over. This is the No Buy thread, but its also the No Judge thread. :-) I'm going to go over this month, too, and I have already spent too much on eating out. I'm afraid if I leave, I will really go nuts LOL.

Amen to the no judge thread! This is my first time here, but I already feel like I can't do it any other way. Before I think about making a purchase, I say to myself, "But I'd have to report it to the thread...And I want more $0 days...." which keeps me from spending, haha.
