June 2011 No Buy Thread- Keeping our summer spending in check

Oh my gosh! check it out!

I haven't been to McDonalds in over a week. A WEEK! I think my next mini goal will not to go out for lunch this weekend. It's so easy on Saturday after running errands to pop into the chinese place. They have awesome tilapia and shrimp...but I can be good!

:woohoo::dance3: That IS an accomplishment!

Does anyone else read this all the time just to see where people spend their money? lol! It's fascinating to me.

I'll probably be spending a good bit of $ tomorrow... errands day and stopping by the mall for YC, BBW and TCP sales.

Oh! And our biggest budget score... a brand new 46" LCD Sony TV for $608... down from $1900!

Yeah, I like to see what others are doing. And it's also good for me; I don't want to list "McDonald's" or "Burger King" or "Popeyes" or "snoball" everyday! :rotfl2::lmao:

LOL...at first I read you were stopping at the Yacht Club and the Boardwalk at your mall. Then I realized...Yankee Candle, Bath & Body Works, The Children's Place. :rotfl:

That is a good deal on that TV! Was it on clearance or something? How'd you get almost 70% off?

Boy am I late at getting started here. Page 7 already.
May was another failed month for tracking. As was April.:confused3. Although I stayed within my budget. Just no time to get on the computer....So, here I am trying again.

06/01 -0- Not a cool day today. Tornados ripped through my hometown and other surrounding towns and city. Only 4 miles from my home, and we got nothing.
06/02$38.00 $12.00 for lunch w/friend. $26.00 supplies for friend that has no electricity. (batteries, extra flash lights, tarp, ice,). Spent the day in town locating family and friends. Thank you God for keeping them all safe. The total loss of life was only 4. I know 4 is still to many, but, this could have been so much worse.
06/03-0- Today was just a numb day.
06/04 Approx. $30.00 on food and water. Spent the day in Springfield volunteering were ever needed. Sadly the town I was born and raised in refused our help:scared1:I think they were just overwhelmed. We don't get tornados up here. Today was an AWESOME DAY!! We just picked a house that looked like they needed help. With chain saws in hand we just jumped in.
06/05Approx $60.00 $25.00 fastfood and water. $25.00 Bought some groceries for one of our new friends. $10 ordered pizza for dinner tonight. But I got to use a $10.00 coupon. :banana:Back in Springfield for the day.We are very Blessed to have met some increditable people. This experience has forever changed my family and I.
06/06-0- :cool1: Forgot what a no buy day was like.
06/07 $32.00 at CVS in 2 seperate transactions. But, got $30 back in ECB:banana:
06/08-0-:cool1: It was just to hot to go anywhere but home and work.
06/09 -0- :cool1: Still to hot. And expecting really bad weather again.
06/10
Auto /$280.00(raised alot due to the prices)
Groceries/Household Goods $57.00/$250.00(raised for picinics and strawberry picking)

That is a good deal on that TV! Was it on clearance or something? How'd you get almost 70% off?

Last season's model, new in box. MIL bought it for us and we paid her... half off, then she used her card points (but got rewarded almost twice as many), a coupon and an employee discount.

OK - after our terrible start to the month we're not doing too bad now. Well, I'm not, I don't know how much DH has left of his $50! I know he's going to go over tonight - he invited a few friends over and is going to buy some beer and liquor on the way home from work. That's why I have the extra $100 in the budget that he doesn't know about though. ;)

6/1-5 - $942- tons of stuff, some needed, some not

6/6- $145- groceries

6/7- $13 - Target (b-day present, lemon, chore chart $1)

6/8 - $0!!

6/9- $23 vet, $14 post office, $25 gas, $9 movie tickets

6/10 - $17 groceries

163/200- food
9/50 - my spending
50/50 - DH spending
25/100 - gas
48/0 - extras I hadn't budgeted for

$296/400 Total for week (budget is really $500, but I'm going to try for $400)

Does anyone else read this all the time just to see where people spend their money? lol! It's fascinating to me.

I find it interesting, but I am also impressed by how little some spend on here. I think it makes a difference if you are married, have kids, pets, work, etc. Also, if you track your DH's spending. Kids are a big extra, since they eat quite a bit and beg for stuff (at least mine do). I find my DH and I don't spend much on ourselves, mostly house/car stuff and food. We eat out when it's convenient, but I skipped today b/c of this thread.

I also find I spend in the same spots, like Wegmans, Target, etc. It's a good record.

It's a friend's birthday today, so bought her a cake. Have been wanting to get a haircut, so this weekend probably won't have any $0 days :guilty:

Yeah, I think your living situation definitely contributes to how and what you spend money on. I'm student and live by myself with a part time job, which is why my budget isn't very much (I don't include rent and phone bill in it cause I don't have much of a choice in paying for those), but it's still not easy to spend because when I go out with my friends, it's too easy to just buy a coffee or eat out with them.

I'm actually trying not to spend money BECAUSE of this thread. Before, I just tried to spend as little as possible, but having a goal of $0 days is really getting me on track. I can choose to buy that iced coffee OR I could add another $0 day to my record!

I did not spend anything out of pocket today. I went over to a friends house and she made us lunch. Then my mom treated me to a few new clothing items as I have lost 31lbs since January and needed some desperately. It came out of her extra spending cash budget.

Hello No Buy Friends! After a few months off I'm back. We're in our new house, all unpacked and ready to move forward with this phase of our life. I'm still a little iffy on my budget because I haven't gotten a set of utility bills for the new house yet. June 1 $20 Dh's PT, $35 groceries, $7 took the boys to the movies- tickets were $1 each and I got us all a water to drink, $15 Subway after the movies.

June 2 $6 took the boys bowling- the games were free but I had to pay for shoe rental.

June 8 $175 groceries, $57 date night

June 10 $45 supplies for oil changes in the cars. We actually bought enough to cover the next set as well, so we should be golden for awhile on oil changes. I don't track my DH's spending as I feel in our case it would just be a recipe for disaster. It's not like he does any crazy spending anyway, so as long as he doesn't get himself into debt, he can buy whatever he wants. And when he treats me to dinner or buys the groceries, I count it as 0$ for me. :thumbsup2
