June 20, 2009 Magic

I didn't get mine yet! I want mine too......:sad2:

Lettie, hopefully you'll get yours tomorrow. I got curious, so I tracked the progress of the package via UPS back to date it was mailed, which was on Tuesday 5/19...so it took 3 days ground travel (it seems) to get here. Also, I don't know if it matters at all, but we had already completed our check-in online, so it was a small booklet, plus the usual luggage tags.

From what I can recall, it's the earliest we've gotten the package...in previous years, they didn't arrive until after Memorial Day.

Keepin' my fingers crossed for you! :wizard:

Hi Haven't been on for a few days. Still raining:scared1: 22 inches and still counting. Streets flooded. Part of the airport is underwater. My husband just drove up from Miami yesterday and said the highway was a mess. But all will be good by the time we get ready to go. One year we went on a cruise this time of year and we had to worry about the fires and I95 closing. So the rain was a good thing.:goodvibes

Sounds good on the Promenade Lounge at 3. Who is getting to the port early. Anyone?

I have not started on anything. To much going on with school.

I swear I'm always the last one to get my stuff. But that's okay...as long as it comes in time. I'm getting really excited....we went shopping for a few things last night that we're going to need.

Also, count me in on the meet...just remind me...I tend to forget things really fast. Hey...maybe we can meet before we get on ths ship? We're staying at a hotel the night before there by the port. What hotel is everyone else staying at?

I don't expect my documents for another two weeks. No biggie.

Had a bit of an issue yesterday. We have arranged for a private tour of the Virgin Islands -- a wheelchair accessible bus. Got a message yesterday -- it appears that they thought we would be there MAY 24 -- not June 24. Sent the message back clarifying. Let's hope they are good for the 24th of June as well.

FE stuff is bought. I hope everybody likes what we did as well. Leia (the 11 year old) has to get it all sorted in a way that will make them easy to give out (we are doing multiple days of gift giving).

Can't wait.

Amy

We haven't received our documents yet. They will have to go to our TA first and then come to us, so it will probably be a few more days before we get them. I hope.

Meeting on Saturday at 3pm sounds good to me.I will have to get the girls out of the pool a little eairly. We will be staying Friday night at the Raddison at the port, and be getting to the port eairly (around 10am). Would love to meet anyone who will be staying there, maybe by the pool or get together for dinner someplace close. At the port on Saturday morning hopefully we will beable to meet up there. On our last cruise we all wore lelis to identify each other.

Since we are leaving here on June 16, we now have 24 days until vacation. We will be spending 3 days at the POP and doing the parks. We like their food cort and since we spend very little time in our room these rooms suit us just fine. We are able to save some money to be used elseware.

Lynn, best of luck with the torrential rain. On the "bright" side, it'll make that sunshine onboard the Magic all the more special! :cool1:

Our flight arrives a little after 11AM, so I'm guessing it'll be around 1PM when we board. We're doing an overnight stay at CBR post-cruise...deciding between EPCOT and DisneyQuest.

Four weeks from today, my friends!!! :yay:

Drew Have you done Disney Quest before. We go about once a year near Frank's Birthday. They keep saying they are going to close it but we went not to long ago and had a blast. Lynn

Yes, we had our first day at DQ last year. DS and I have the DVD's from our homemade rollercoasters. We really had a great time...I hope they keep it open...it certainly had a large crowd when we were there!

Drew I don't think Disney Quest opens until 11:30 so at least you can sleep in.

Hope everyone is having a good 3 day weekend:woohoo::woohoo:

Good Morning Everyone,

I'm new to this great message board as of today! I will be cruising with you all on June 20th!

Currently, I am in Kyrgyzstan, which is northeast of Afghanistan (where I originally was). My husband is back home in the states with my 20 month old daughter. He surprised me with this trip and I am definitely excited! I have a few questions though and I am hoping the veterans here can help to answer them.

Since my daughter is 20 months old, are there any special requests I should make (i.e. high chairs, etc) prior to the cruise; or, are those items readily available? Any special considerations your guys can think of that would help me stay ahead of the game? I have reserved some nursery time for her so that my husband and I can enjoy a nice dinner, but evenso, I'm worried I'm missing something.

Are there any special items I should bring with me? I have read through some of these posts and so many people seems rushed to get "everything" ready. Seeing as how I'm currently on the the other side of the world, I'm worried that I, too, will be rushed. So, any suggestions as far as a packing list would be most appreciated.

Any other considerations I should make? Any pre-boarding hotel recommendations? Any suggestions to make the process easier? I'm sorry I don't have many specific questions, but I'm just not sure what to ask as I've never cruised before!

Last thing - anyone else have a 20 month old cruising? Anyone else done it before? I'm curious to hear your experiences.

Thanks so much! I can't wait, everyone!

Kristin

First Let me say :welcome:

What a great surprise!! That husband is a keeper. First I would go to the Disney Cruise Line Forum and check out the sticky FAQ. I think it is about six lines down. That should get you started. You can get a pack and play from Disney. Someone else that has little one's might be able to help you more.

Again welcome.

Thanks and I appreciate the welcome, Lynn! Yes - the husband is a keeper. I've been gone nearly 10 months now and he's has taken amazing care of our daughter! It will be a wonderful vacation and we are so looking forward to it!

Did you get a military discount? Because they just started something new if you book now for this cruise you get a $700 room credit. But I don't think it works when you book with a discount. We had Florida Residence. Plus would have to had to just booked.

Will you have a car at the port to haul all the extra stuff you need for the baby? We drive down that morning so if you forgot anything just shout!!!

Lynn

Lynn, Thanks so much!

Yes - I'm pretty sure my husband got the military discount but I don't think he received any room credit. Darn! Nonetheless, I would rather get the cruise for less money than a credit, so it works out for us in the end!

I know. We have two rooms so it would have been $1400 so double darn. But like you said the discount rate was better booking as late as we did.

By the way I didn't say it before but thank you for your service to our United States of America and to all of us back home. :goodvibes

Kristin, welcome to our gang...we're glad to have you. And, to repeat what Lynn has already expressed, thank you for your dedication and service to our Country!

You may have seen that there are sample Navigators from a previous Tortola cruise available via a link downthread. Also, if you go to the "DIS DCL FAQ" page, there is a wealth of resources, including a packing list in Excel format available for free download.

If you're arriving the day before the cruise, many people slelect either the Hyatt in the Orlando International Airport or the Radisson in Port Canaveral for pre-boarding hotel acccomodations.

Again, welcome to our gang! --Drew

Drew, Lynn - thanks so much!

Drew - you mentioned Navigators. I'm trying to figure out what that is. Sorry - can you help me out?

Kristin, Navigators are the daily calendar of events that are placed in everyone's staterooms. If you scroll down this thread, you'll see a post from me on 5/11/09 that has a link to the page where you can download the daily Navigators.

I also have a recap of the main items (dining themes, shows, ports of call, etc.) in .xls format that I've been passing around. If you want that as well, please PM me with your e-mail address, and I'll be glad to send it on to you!

:thumbsup2

Hi again, Kristin...the Tortola spreadsheet has been sent to the e-mail addy you provided.

Feel free to ask any of us any questions you may have...this is a friendly bunch! :woohoo:

Thanks again,
Drew
