June 16, 2007 MedHead Cruisers

Hello MedHeads. :wave2:
I just got back from visiting my sister this morning. I'm feeling a little lonely! It's always hard to come home from seeing her because we have so much fun when we're together!! The Halloween party was great. I'll share some pictures soon. Hope everyone's doing well. We seem to have lost most of the group though.

Hi everyone,

Still out here lurking - been doing a large area of decking in our back garden now need some more patio furniture to put on it but next summer I think.
Weather here definitely turning to autumn or fall as you say and not my best time of year. Love spring and cannot wait but find with the changing climate some of my next years bulbs are well ahead but my holly has lots of berries which they say is a sign of a hard winter. Only time will tell.

20 years since this part of England was hit by the hurricane how time flies past.

Looking forward to the Panama trip and have most of it in place I think now apart from the transport.

We fly Virgin Atlantic into Vegas staying three nights in the Grand Desert Timeshare resort. Flight to Santa Anna airport and two nighs at the Grand Californian then on the Magic for 15 wonderful nights. We have booked three nights at our home resort Old Key West then flights home again.

Anyone out there looking to sell some vacation club points? I have a friend who is looking to buy about 70 for next June. I've checked the Disboard thread for points trading, but I feel safer working with people I already know.

Jodie

Just thought I would jump in here. I haven't posted in a long while but I check in a couple times a week. I'm so glad some of us are still out there.

PJ- I will be at WDW in January for New Years Eve! I think you will be back working there then. We are staying at the Contemporary. I look forward to seeing you and Hollywood, (maybe, she has already met me, you know. It's not like I would be an internet stalker friend or anythin'). I've been reading BBN's TR and I think that is just too much fun. It's so goog, you two are great. I feel like I know her and as you know, I don't. Keep it up. Sorry to hear you stopped your cruise TR. I was looking forward to reading about our wonderful cruise. Oh well.

Steph- Why don't you sell your points contract so you can buy at Grand Californian? My step-son sold his contract like within a weeks time and the transaction was really smooth. Just a thought. Anyway, good luck with the weight reduction. I'm on the same track, but, I joined Weight Watchers.

Hello to everyone else. Has anyone heard from Silver or Lisa??????

SILVER, ARE YOU OUT THERE????? LISATX??????????

I'd really like to know how that transatlantic was. Have a great week everyone.

Vicki

Hi Everyone,

Glad to see everyone is still around.

Lauren, keep those posts going. I am going for a quick trip to Disney on Wednesday, & coming back on Sunday (maybe Monday if we get bumped:banana: ) got our fingers crossed. Free airline tickets would help for Alaska. I think we are going to the Magic Kingdom this Friday, will look for your sister. I will bring her a pen, for old time sake.

Hay Steph, Jenna still talks about Taylor too. How are you doing on your diet? I power walk, & don't laugh, but still swim laps, & faithfully do Jane Fonda & a few other body tapes 3 times a week. The scale is not moving, much but I went from a size 12 to an size 8. I am now wearing junior jeans for the first time in years, so....something is working. What is your Disney date in March 08? My husband Jenna & I are going after Easter.

Silver, how was your cruise??????????????????????? Please fill us in.

Anyone hear from Marie? Marie, did you read the article in the paper that Eillen wrote about you? Email me & I will send you the link

Brenda, how is your family? Any trips to the USA?

Vicki, I love Weight Watchers. I follow the plan durning the week. Have you discovered Fiber One bars as of yet? They are great snack & will fill you up for at least one to two hours. I have to hide them from my kids, they love them too. I don't like to share my food. LOL

I hope all is well everyone.

Happy Thanksgiving.

Patricia

Hey! I was just thinking about you today. We'll be at Disney over Easter as well - getting there on Friday before Easter and staying the first 2 nights at Fort Wilderness, then AKL for 2 nights and Beach Club for 3. Hopping around a bit. Where are you staying?

Started Weight Watchers tonight!!!!! 18 pounds is my goal!! God help me! :scared1:

Jodie

Hey Patricia,
No, I haven't found those bars yet. Who are they made by and where do I find them in the stores? How many points are they? Thanks for the tip.:thumbsup2

Hey everyone....
Taylor just shared my cruise scrapbook I made for her current event. Jenna was featured prominently at the end. (those cute pics of the 2 of then in monte carlo). She shared all about the "medheads" and all the kids she met. She starting to forget names of everyones kids, but she has some cute descriptions. She's very excited the "ally" from kids club is supposed to be on our next cruise. I hope she is on the ship.

My new disboard group is not as entertaining as this one is...I wish you were all going on the westbound canal with me...I don't have high hopes for these new people. BUT...i'll keep my mind open!

Congrats on the size...I hope to follow in your footsteps. I have joined a very restrictive doctor supervised plan. It's going great so far and I have learned alot about myself, choices etc. We have "group" on mondays and I find it very theraputic...talking with others who have had issues also. It always stinks to look back only 10 years ago and see the person I was (on the outside) and know how badly I let myself go...This program is really helping me recover my lost self esteem and relearn how to eat for nutrition, diet and then enjoyment...instead of boredom!
Taylor and I won't be in WDW until May 8th. We'd love to bump into anyone, but I know it's a bad time.

On the Alaska front, my sister has received good news from her TA. We will get the list of dates and the "perks" depending on size about 1 week before they open the "booking". So it gives us a little leeway to find the right date and most plentiful perks. My sister is hoping to have the info in december...

I hope that all of you interested will keep reading these boards. I will post the info on alaska as soon as I get it.

We miss you all. I hope that you all have a fantastic holiday.

Hi Everyone!

I sure has been a while and a lot has been going on. My husband and I did a short trip to Scottsdale, AZ in August and bought a condo. I've been very busy getting that furnished and whatnot. Jeff and I are leaving this Friday to spend Thanksgiving out there. My husband has a retail store so he can't come and my college son wants to visit with his high school friends when they get back into town.

Steph, we are still planning on Alaska so don't take us off your list! We will be due a vacation other than AZ by next summer.

Patricia, have a great time in Disney:cool1: we has so much fun this summer and hope to get a weekend there soon. I have to wait until June for more points!

Good luck everyone with their dieting. I gained aobut 5 pounds on our Europe cruise and have not seemed to be able to get rid of them. I too do weight watchers, I guess I need to pay a little more attention to the points!

Hi Everyone,

We just got back & had great weather & had fabulous time. Can you believe Magic Kingdom was dead, & Epcot was like a zoo? Steph you would have been proud of me. It's amazing what people will give you & do for you, for a pen & calador:rotfl: we were shocked but very grateful.

Lauren,I looked for your sister, I actually went in the back way to find her. (bribed my way with pens) I left some things for her with Cm's there, expect I told them her name was Amanda. OOPS. She can ask the Cm's working last Sunday around noon, if there was something left for Amanda. Wrong sister. :scared1:

Jodie, I hope you were thinking about me, with good thoughts. LOL

Since we are all watching & on Weight Watchers, here are some tips:

Drink water or Diet juice (I drink Cranberry Grape Diet & add water equal parts) Crystal lite. Get your water in

FIBER ONE BARS you can get them the cheapest at Costco, Target. Pathmark & Shoprite sells them too, but they charge to much $$$
2 points They are my life saver, one tip, is to be careful, more than one can be, let me just say there is 9 grams of fiber. 18 grams, you will be filled with gas.

Snacks:
English muffin lite 1 point
I can't believe it's butter spray FREE points
Smuckers lite Jelly (I don't count it)

Weight watchers yogurt with a heaping amount of
Cool whip fat free. Yum Yum 1 point

Lunch "Subway" order any bread, have them put on veggies, many veggies (I bring my own olive oil spray in the can 0 points) give them the can, to spray on sandwich, ask them to add vinegar salt & pepper. It is only 4 points They sell diet potato chips there also. Buy a small bag 1 point 5 point lunch.

When you are really hungry try Weight Watchers shake, & add low fat milk & ice to it, it is 3 very well spent points. You will be quite surprised at how full you will be.

Lunch with a friend, go to Applebee's they have a weight watcher menu, that is yummy.

My last tip, I hate to exercise, in a group class. I have some tapes here at home, & whenever I can during the day or night, I faithfully do the tapes here at home at least 3 times a week. No excuses, you have your tapes, you can exersise. This will give you curves

If anyone has anymore tips, I would love to hear them. I need something new to spice things up.

Happy Healthy Thanksgiving everyone.

Patricia

Hi Everyone glad to see most are still on the site. No smiling jack where are you?

Diet and weight what a problem that is and there does not seem to be an easy way out of it. Really am determined to lose some trouble is it is always more difficult I think in the winter months and this side of Christmas.

Had a great weekend at Center Parcs in Norfolk booked up and paid for by our two daughters. Played Badminton and squashed myself into my swimming gear, covered in a big towel and swam round the lazy river bit quite a few times. Then they made me go down the rapids that go outside and then back inside and it was so cold outside. Also they have a great high salt pool that you can swim outside also and that was lovely to swim under the stars spent a lot of time in that.

We are all booked up for December 13th 2008 for the 7 night western (fingers crossed) as we were diverted last time to the eastern because of Wilma.
Our two daughters and their boy friends are coming and we are really looking forward to that as well as the Panama. We can then spend Christmas in Disney which should be fun as usual.

Anyone else planning on being there at that time would be great to see you.

We have had some heavy frosts the last couple of nights but luckily the wind and tidal surge last week did not do the damage they thought it would. We went down the beach about 2 hours before high tide and it was lapping the sea wall. The sea where it had been forced down from Scotland was a very strange colour - took some pictures but it did not come out that good.

Well must go and do some ironing - maids day off!!!!!!!!!!! I am dreaming again.

Have a great weekend everyone.

I think I go back down on December 20. I could be off by a day or two. And I'm staying through January 14. My parents will be visiting staying at Beach Club Villas from December 30-January 6 and then from January 6-14 at the Polynesian. New Year's Eve is my birthday so hopefully I won't have to work. I'll talk to you some more about it, but since I'll be working at Chef Mickey's and you'll be at the Contemporary, I'm sure we can plan to bump into each other at some point!

I'm glad you're enjoying the joint trip report. I probably never would have agreed to meet an online person if I hadn't just met y'all all over the summer! It's really neat, she and I have become very close friends. We only live 2 hours apart so we get to see each other fairly frequently.

My new disboard group is not as entertaining as this one is...I wish you were all going on the westbound canal with me...I don't have high hopes for these new people. BUT...i'll keep my mind open!
I'm fairly certain you have space in your stateroom for a little college girl. ;) I promise to be as entertaining as everyone here combined!

Glad you had a nice trip but you had me :rotfl: with the pen story!!! You never stop with the pens, do you? Anyway, her real name is Amanda. You were right. I just changed her name for the trip report. Shhhh!!!

Our two daughters and their boy friends are coming and we are really looking forward to that as well as the Panama. We can then spend Christmas in Disney which should be fun as usual.
Make sure to come eat at Chef Mickey's while you're at Disney! I'll be there!

How is everyone doing? My entire family is in Florida right now without me. I am going down on Wednesday morning. My parents own a condo down there so the whole family goes for Thanksgiving. The students at the school I teach at still have school on Monday and Tuesday so I have to stay in town while they're all down there on the beach!

We had kind of a sad week last week. On Monday my parents came home to find our cat laying in the driveway unable to move. They took him immediately to the vet who said he had a stroke and needed to be put to sleep. So, we lost him on Monday night. :guilty: That was very sad for both my sister and me. He was only 7 years old, a very cute grey cat with white paws. We'll definitely miss him.

Hope everyone is doing well.

Hi all...glad to see you're all still around....
Lauren-Sorry to hear about your cat. I love cats and hate to lose them. Of course you could sneak in to our room...hmm..how does that work!

Thanks for all the tips..so far so good on the diet. Of course as I lose it's coming from places I don't want and not from the places I want to lose! But...it's coming off so thats good. I have learned that I must eat 5 times a day (like a weightlifter) and make sure their balanced meals/snacks with portion control and calorie checks. It's very hard, but since I am having success it's keeping me motivated. I just need to get more motivated about excercise. I'm hearing what your saying pat, but it's not getting inside my head yet. I'll keep working on that.
It's too bad dissing doesn't burn calories. I'd lose tons then!

I'm off to Ventura for Thanksgiving..(it's just south of santa barbara, ca)..to see some family. A quick trip down and then head right back as my cousins high school football team has a playoff game on saturday. 1st time their school has ever won a title! It's been very exciting. Last night they played against my home town team (and won!) I gloated to my neighbors this morning.
I hope you all have a fabulous thanksgiving and don't load up too much on turkey and mash...yum!

I guess I'm truly a lurker! But I LOVE to read all your stories!

PurtyPat and her pens! :rotfl: You are too funny!

PJ: Sorry to hear about your cat! We have one & they are truly wonderful animals! I didn't like them when I was growing up, then when we got them I saw how wrong I was!

Not much here on the home front. My DB got his "deer" for the year - with my car! How I hate my rental car!:headache: But @ least it's free! Luckily he's a physician & holds the mortgage on a used car lot, so he gave me a car from his lot to use.

We plan on a quiet (we hope) Thanksgiving dinner @ home. I wish everyone a Happy Holiday!

Sue :)

Oh wow, that's great! Why Arizona though? You guys just really like it there?

Hi Lauren! We picked Arizona because of the weather. I want to be a snowbird who travels west for the winters when Jeff finishes school. My husband doesn't like Florida due to Hurricanes and those noseeums. I only wanted a warm place to go so Arizona won.

Hope you enjoyed Disney during Thanksgiving. This is the first Thanksgiving in several years that we didn't go to Disney for Thanksgiving. The weather was beautiful in Scottsdale and I jogged every day it won wonderful!

I'm bummed....I saw they added a pin event in May and its the weekend my stepdaughter picked to get married.

Hope everyone is well!:)

Hi everyone,
I just got off the phone with Disney Cruise Line. I booked my DH and me on the westbound Panama Canal crossing, YES:banana:   ! I am on the email list for All Seasons Travel and it said there were a few openings for the sailing. So I quickly called because I had booked a dummy date on the Med cruise and voila, we are all switched over:woohoo: :woohoo: Pardon my giddiness:cool1: :cool1: I can hardly stand it. So, who's on this sailing? Steph? Brenda? Anyone else that wasn't fast enough when it was first announced? Who knows how I transfer this booking over to a TA? and which company should I use? Lots of questions! I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving!
Vicki

Hi Vicki.

Glad you got a booking on the Panama. We are on the Eastbound so we will not meet up.
We did our booking through Dreams Unlimited (barbara@dreamsunlimitedtravel.com ) She has been wonderful and is so friendly that we chat by email. Think the current stateroom credit for these cruises through dreams is $600 which is worth having.

It is so easy to transfer they do the lot for you.
Bren

Hi all. I have a question about travel agents . . . we have always booked our own cruises, but I'm interested in checking prices with some TAs. Anyone have a recommendation? Are the prices really that much better?

Brenda, I've e-mailed your TA - waiting to hear back, but I think the only difference in price will be an additional $100 stateroom credit. $100 helps, but I hate to give up "control" of my reservation (weird I know).

Thanks!

Jodie

Lucky duck! I would LOVE to go, but the kids are in school then. How bad would it be if I left them home with my husband and came alone????
