June 16, 2007 MedHead Cruisers

I hope all turns out well with your aunt. BUT..by tomorrow if no one has heard from her, you (or her daughter) should contact the police. I would leave messages on her cell and home phone stating just that..that way if she's just avoiding people, she'll hear that and decide to reach out.
Good luck
Steph

Lauren,

Do hope you have now had some good news about your aunt and know how worried you must be - thinking of you.
Bren

Thanks so much everyone for the good wishes and prayers. That meant a lot to me.

We found my aunt around 6:45 last night. Yesterday was officially the day from hell though. I can't even tell you guys the scenarios that were running through my head. I feel like I must have run a marathon yesterday, I'm just so completely drained and exhausted. The important thing is that everyone is okay and we're all going to stand behind my aunt and she's going to be okay. I am still just so confused feeling. I'm still upset, panicked, and now, sort of mad at her for her irresponsibility. I keep reminding myself, she's alive, that's what matters. Have to keep reminding myself. She has a long road ahead of her.

Lauren,
I'm so happy she's safe! Don't be hard on yourself for being angry at her. And don't expect to just feel fine now that you know she's okay. That is a VERY traumatic experience for you to have gone through.

Take care:grouphug:

Jodie,
I just wanted to thank you again for encouraging me to down grade my room on the med cruise. Because of you we are able to go to Hawaii next week for a week. I am so excited.
Kathy

Wow! I think you should bring me with you as. HA! Hope you have fun!!

Jodie

You're too funny!...
As long as it's NOT on disney as my brother will probably go. He has turned me down for both disney cruises we went/are going on...
BUT....here's the lowdown...he's 30 single, owns his own home and has a great job with GE:Invision. It's their airport security division. The big guns security machines our luggage goes thru behind the scenes. He's in Canada right now working on an install. He has travelled all over the world for them..actually mostly the pacific rim and canada. He's always telling them he'd go anywhere other than the pacific rim and canada..but alas they have others.
He has friends on the Royal Carribean line, so thats a push to get him.

I would love to do one that left from SF or came into SF that'd be great. Who's gonna be the leader of this? Patricia? I'll keep my eyes out and I'll let my sister know, as she organized a group for her wedding onboard the Royal Carribean Line.

Have a good night...
Steph

Hey you guys. I'm sorry I've been lame - haven't been on the boards in a long time - am just reading back through the messages now. We definitely want to do Alaska. We have our reservation booked on Royal Caribbean for the summer of 08, but we may have to put it off until the summer of 09.

PJ, I'm glad your aunt is OK. I'm also very sorry you had to deal with that! Hopefully she can get the help she needs. Is this your dad's or mom's sister? Does she live near them?

I'm glad you're finally enjoying Orlando. I hate to think about you being lonely. Did you read the Sisterhood book? If not, you MUST read it!!

On a more lighthearted note, I have an entire itinerary done for Alaska. I've only booked the cruise so far (Royal Caribbean from Vancouver to Seward), but I've figured out what we'll do when we get to Seward (train to Denali, etc). If you guys are really interested, I can post it for you.

Jodie

Our prayers were answered! Our group seems to have bad luck with the travel gods, but @ least we were smiled on in this case. We wish your Aunt well & hope she gets all the help she needs.

Sue

jodie..sounds good. I'd love to see what you have planned and get some ideas for 2009.
Glad to see you back on the boards!

Hey! Don't be disappearing like that!

It's my dad's sister. She lives about 45 mintues from my parents.

I didn't read it yet! I just finished one book and started another one and I have a whole pile I'm wanting to read. I always have tons of books I want to read and then don't have time. It takes me forever to get them all read. It's on the pile of books though! :rotfl:

Thanks. :)

Hope everyone has a good weekend. Anyone have any fun weekend plans?

Fun? Well, I'm in the midst of marathon training, so I got up at 4:45 this morning to get a 15 mile run in. Don't know if you'd call that "fun," but now that its over, I'm pretty darned happy. Happy, but tired!

Some time during the next week, I'll post my Alaska itinerary with links. I think its a pretty great trip - just so darned expensive - like doing the Med cruise all over again.

Jodie

Lauren,

I'm so glad you found your Aunt. What an ordeal. Prayers going out that she seeks help.

Vicki

Pat...
I need you to explain to me again how to get the extra credits...help me out.
transferring ressies etc.

Thanks
Steph

Lauren,
I am so sorry about your Aunt and the stress she caused you and your family. I hope and pray she gets the help that is needed.

Jodie,
Thanks again for the Hawaii trip. Without your help it would not of been possible. It was very relaxing and fun. Kind of a crazy trip for me. I had to go to Kansas for school on July 17th-20th. I flew home on the 20th. Landed in the Sacramento airport at 10:00 p.m. Stayed at a hotel close to the airport so I could get up at 6:00 a.m. and go back to the airport to get on the plane to Hawaii. But, it was a fun and realxing trip for my entire family. So thanks again Jodie.

Sorry have been missing from the boards for a while but trying to catch up. Dh had his hernia operation and all is well but he needs watching as wants to do more than I think he should.
Lauren, so glad and relieved about your aunt., depression is such a dreadful thing to cope with but hope she is getting all the professional help needed.

Weather here in our part of the uk is so hot at the momeht - wish we had the air conditioning as standard, we have stand alone unit but not the same.
It is still 27 in the bedroom which is way too hot. Have left dh downloading my photos to my laptop and have a great one which I will have a go at posting which we took from the castle in Naples and shows Magic in harbour and what looks like smoke coming from vesuvio as they in Napoli. Expect it is very hot now in Italy but hope everyone is having a great time out there and do so hopethat Disney decide to repeat it soon.

Bren ............

Hello everyone. Hope all's going well. I've been crazy busy working doubles. I work from 6am-noon and then from 4pm-11pm. So, I don't even get home until like 11:30 at night and then I have to get up at 5 to work. Yuck. Makin overtime though!

I also had some friends in town for the past few days so on my time off I was running around with them in the parks. I'm ready to sleep! I only have about 10 days left here though so I figure I should make the money while I can.

Glad to hear that you were enjoying the park with friends in between work shifts. I hope you like your job working for Disney. It is really hot here
in Cincinnati the last couple of weeks. Taking the family to the Reds game on Tuesday night vs the Dodgers. Hopefully it will be cooler down by the river.

Ok..for all of you interested in the Alaska 2009 cruise. Here is the probable itin...

Cruise Line: Royal Caribbean
Ship: Serenede of the Seas
Depature Port/Arrival: Vancouver, BC
Length: 7 days
Ports of Call:Vancouver, British Columbia; Inside Passage (Cruising); Icy Strait Point, Alaska; Hubbard Glacier (Cruising); Skagway, Alaska; Juneau, Alaska; Vancouver, British Columbia
Suggested Dates: June 13th or June 20th (both saturdays)

These dates are not released yet, but my sister has it on good authority that those dates will be true. Additionally, she was told the best time to go was no later than June as the animals are hunting and gathering and whales are out. After June, not so much. We've done alot of research on the ports and they offer a variety of ship activites. Looking at the other itineraries, this seemed to be the most varied keeping the airfare costs in check too.

RCCL ships have the back end balconies and my sister has spoken to her TA to get those saved. So I need to check again and see who is interested in a balcony on the BACK end of the ship. This will give you a full view while sailing through the straits etc. The TA will place a hold on the specific rooms we want. So if you are interested please go to the RCCL web page and pull up the Serenade ship and pick a room. The actual intinerary will not be "official" until January 08 most likely, so there is no obligation and no money required at this point. You will be contacted once the itinerary is published and asked to put your deposit down at that time.

Please pm or post your Name (first and last), email and room # or catagory if you don't care which specific room. I will then email that information to the TA who will hold our rooms AS SOON as the itinerary comes out.

Hope you all are having a great summer. School is right around the corner.

Stephanie

Hey Steph. I'm up - almost 1:00 - can't sleep - glad someone is on the boards. It looks like we won't be able to do Alaska in 08 so we probably will go in 09. I think I would rather do a point to point trip - from Vancouver to Seward so that I can get off and go to Denali and such. Yes, it makes the trip more expensive with flights and extra "stuff," but I sort of feel like if you're there . . .

Also, note that if you want to do any of the bear viewing excursions, they aren't offered in June (guess the bears don't come out to the rivers until July and August) - just something to keep in mind.

Also, for those of you who have DVC (and even those who don't), the drive from Vancouver to Whistler is supposed to be incredible (a couple hours I think). One of the resorts there is on our exchange list. I checked and the points are pretty low compared to the cash price so you're getting a good value. It would be a nice side trip. The only downside is that if you want just a night or two, you can't make a reservation (using points that is) until 4 months out.

Steph, since we're too poor to do Alaska this summer, we were thinking about heading out your way to drive the California coast (I found super cheap flights for next June from Richmond to Oakland - all 4 of us for less than $1,000). Unfortunately, my trips tend to balloon out of control. I'm already up to a two week trip - think we're trying to see way too much. I need to back up and re-think the whole thing.

Lauren, how are you? Where are you?? Back home yet?

Jodie
