June 16, 2007 MedHead Cruisers

That pixie dust pixiedust: , genie :genie: & the amazing Silvernac is a POWERFUL combination of good luck! :thumbsup2 Glad you got them! How could he not remember to give them to you! That's something my DB would do.

On another note, Disney Lover Linda & myself got our "gifts" today for the Dis exchange! Took me a long time to decide & all along it was right in our backyard!

WOW! & a OMG our cruise is next week! :yay: I don't know about you all but it's always exciting yet a little scarry to go away! But WE REALLY ARE EXCITED!!! :jumping1: :jumping1:

Sue

In your backyard??? Legal or illegal??? :rotfl2:

My DH would say, "what docs?" I fully expect him to ask me on the way to the airport . . . "Now, where are we going again?" I'm not kidding. He always leaves all the planning up to me and just comes along for the ride. He knows we're on the Disney Med cruise and flying to Barcelona, but thats about it. Probably a good thing. If we were both type A, there would be big trouble.

My DD (7) told me tonight that she has a sore throat. I told her that NO, shes not allowed to get sick during the last week of school and only a week before we leave for Spain!!!

John, check out the cruise critic sight under destinations. There is a little bit of info there on beaches. I think Olbia would be a good destination to rent a car. I wonder if there is a car rental agency at the port. If not, its probably too much of a hassle for just 1 day.

John,

I think you are right on the mark!! Everything I've ever heard about the med is go before July. Well, we just can do any better than we did! Fingers crossed!!!:rotfl2: :rotfl2: lol

I went over LeiLana's list and I can't get over how many 11 and 12 year old girls are on this cruise. I hope they warm up to my 12 year old son! It seems that there are no boys!!!

Celsius multiply by 9, divide by 5 and add 32 degrees = fahrenheit
25 degrees Celsius = 77 degrees Fahrenheit
I'll do my best to remember that! Thanks!
Ok the Pixie dust worked...I got my documents today...Actually they came yesterday....the UPS guy stopped DH on the way out of the neighborhood and gave them to him....He neglected to tell me that until this morning....I could have been doing the document dance all night!!!!

PJ- I hope the Pixie Dust worked for you!!!

It didn't work for me and I forgot to call. :guilty: Oops. Oh well. Tomorrow.

Today was apparently the day for cell phone drama. I dropped my cell phone and completely broke it. I was able to put it back together but it wouldn't turn on. I had a warranty on it so they're going to mail me a new one by Friday. I also had it activated for international use. That was only $2. Am I understanding correctly in saying that all phones will work on the ship?

Regarding the Temperature formula, I know a Xavier student can do the math. My wife said I was weird that I knew the formula off the top of my head. I am always good for useless information but it now very useful information.

Sorry to hear about your phone mishap. Did you take the opportunity to upgrade?

Cell phones....
They should all work on the ship, you just need to check with your carrier if they are carried by disney. If they aren't you'll get your international fee plus whatever fee disney charges to use their network.
Call your phone company and see if they are carried by disney.

I still need to call disney and check on the att thing, paperwork says yes, but att/cingular says no.

we'll see.....

The whole cell phone thing is driving me a bit crazy. I gave it to Andy to handle. Apparently they (Sprint) told him today that they are carried by Disney, but the charge comes from Disney, not them. So they couldn't tell us what the cost would be to use our phones. So, I think we'll just plan to use our GSM phone if we need it, and not use our regular phones at all. Besides, how much contact do we really want to be having with our families while on our honeymoon?! :rotfl:

Someone else had posted a link for a world phone. I've looked back and can't find it. Anyone remember who it was? Just want to compare the two. I am eager to cross this off my list as well.

Vicki

How did you get your palo ressies. I've tried and none available???

I'm just going to use my phone to confirm w/fam that we made it and if I have any computer problems and have to call work. BUT i'll make them pay for that! heehee...
S

We got our Palo ressie at 90 days out. It's my understanding that many openings are available but you have to be inconvenienced and present yourself in Rockin Bar D right after getting on the ship. We want to get a brunch ressie so we are making that #1 priority when we are allowed on ship.

I am interested in the world phone as my regular cell phone is a dinosaur and I don't want to upgrade just yet. I'm waiting for (and really want) the new iPod iPhone which doesn't come out until the end of June. It would be silly to upgrade my phone and then a month later get another new phone. So, I think the world phone is a good option for us.

Off to bed! Have a great night!

Vicki

Hello,
I'm so glad I found you all! My DD(8) and I will be joining you on the Magic. We would love to join in on all the fun!

I'm Wendy (44) and DD is Jasmine (yes I named her after the Princess, but that was before I met her!)

We've been on the Magic to the Eastern and Western Caribbean, and now that I'm stationed in Brussels, Belgium we simply had to book the Med cruise! I booked a Cat 11 last year, and about a month ago switched to the Cat 12 guarantee. I got half of my money back, and still ended up in a Cat 11 cabin!

Here's all of our info:

Marseille - Marseille and the Little Train (morning)

Villefranche - Nice and Monaco

On the 27th, we fly out of Barcelona at 4:15pm

I'm trying to get caught up on the thread, but does someone have a recap of all the plans? I know that I definitely like to see the suite. You all sound like so much fun. I can't wait to meet you all in person!

Hi Wendy and Jasmine,
We are also on the La Cinta Beach excursion in Sardinia. My DD, Sarah, is 6 and my DS, Wyatt, is almost 9. Hopefully we will see at the beach.

At this exact moment one week from now we will be taking our giant Dachshunds (Astro and Cosmo) to the "Doggie Spa":dogdance:

Leilani, I have had problems in the past with Cingular and work phones and we will NEVER use them again. I feel your pain:drinking1

MARLA!! Honey please let us know the updates. Here is your Pixie dust:tinker: :shamrock:

Wendy and Jasmine--:welcome: I am glad someone else is going on Flavors of Sorrento with us!

Lisatx--:thanks: The bracelets look GREAT!!!!!

We dropped off Eurokid at the airport yesterday, and we were all pretty down about it. His Dad called from Warsaw and thanked us for hosting him, so that helped. We are meeting up with them in Barcelona, and he said they could not find any apartments to rent (I guess that is how the Europeans travel--renting apartments?) and had to get one 20KM out of town. The good news is that we will get to see part of the countryside around Barcelona!

OH, when I called to tell the Debit card people that we were going out of the country I had to let them know that BOTH debit cards were going--even though we have the same number they had to put the ok on both. Just a word of warning in case someone else needs to do this.

OMG WE ARE LEAVING IN A WEEK!!!

Lot's of PD your way!!! :wizard:

Marla, after reading of your nightmares I'm glad I spent the extra $$ for expedited processing of our passports. My daughter and I got ours within two weeks. We will wish good things for you! pixiedust:

On Olbia, I got this from a fellow cruiser that just returned and had a stop in Olbia. The beach we'd been talking about was Pittulongu Beach, which is just north of Olbia.

"Hi,
Just got back from our cruise. We got the port free shuttle bus to just outside Olbia town, then a five min walk into town centre, small not much there, saw a taxi rank, got taxi to the beach you mentioned, cost 20 euros each way (on meter),approx 15- 20 mins drive, taxi driver was great, picked us up when he said he would, there are a few restaurants along the beach and beach was lovely. Had a really nice day. Our 5 year old daughter was quite happy."

This link is good for excursion info. A guy on the 5-26 cruise posting his experience. Very interesting....

S

Stephanie,

Thanks for finding some excursion trip reports. I believe we are on 3 excursions with you. Happy to see that the Monaco, Monte Carlo, Eze appears to be a good pick. The Florence/Pisa was a hard decision. We gave up seeing statue of David so we could see Pisa but I had no expectations that we could go up the tower -- just a drive-by, take your picture and grab a souvenir and back on the bus on the way back to the Magic. I still thought there would be shopping time especially on Ponte Vechio bridge. My ladies
need their shopping time or they will get cranky.

We have no plans for Palermo so we may tag along on your Frommer's walking tour in the morning. Would like to talk to more about this when we meet.

John
