June 16, 2007 MedHead Cruisers

Good morning.

Just phoned British Airways about the fuel surcharges that we should have had to pay extra at the airport and been told that BA (do not know about other airlines) are paying these themselves and we will not have to pay anything extra. Sounds good to me -perhaps not as we are BA shareholders but thought I would pass this info. on...
Have also been looking at the long distance weather chart and am jotting down their prediction to see just how close they are.

So far I can check on Barcelona, palermo and Naples.
16th Barelona they are saying 25 day time and 18 night
18th Palermo 28 day time
19th Naples 32 day time

That is as far as it will allow me to go at the moment. Am going to look again and jot down. So far no rain forecast.

sup im 14 years old and was wondering if anyone else on this thread was around my age. My name is max:banana:

Hi Max,

Here is a thread for 12 & 13 year old girls. You might what to say hi to them

or maybe if there are any 12 13 & 14 year old boys you can start a thread

Hi Patricia,

I just got off the phone with Continental regarding this question. We are taking a friend of Alyssa's and obviously we are not the parents or legal guardians. Continental told me that traveling to Europe we will be fine and do not need anything but her passport. Even though they told me this, I am going to have the parents notarize a letter saying it is okay for us to take her out of the country and which countries we will be visiting. We usually always do this for medical issues when we take a friend so I am just going to add this information to the letter.

So you should be okay traveling out of the country with your daughter, but it wouldn't hurt to back yourself up with a notarized letter.

OK I will go to the bank to see if I can get a notarize letter. DMIL Patricia A is a Notzrier. I am afraid if I have her do it, it will be too confusing, since we both have the same first & last name & both traveling together. Thank you so.....much for the info.

Lauren, I didn't get my packet as of yet either. I have Jenna's birthday party on Saturday, kids party first, & Family party second, so I have been too overwhelmed, to call. I didn't do a thing except goodie bags. I will be cooking for the next few days. :scared1: I am praying for sun, since it's a "Pool Party" I will call AA today.

Have a good day everyone.

Patricia

Hi Laura,

Is that the MadHatters cake????? It's great! There are many of us doing Palermo and Olbia on our own. I haven't had a chance to view all the Disney iPod podcasts on each of the ports, but, the one I have viewed was really informative. I'm hoping to get ideas on those two ports from that. Feel free to hook up with us in these ports. Safety in numbers, I say.

Vicki

Laura and Vicki, we are doing Palermo and Olbia on our own too. We should all try to talk at Leilani's party. I was thinking we'd do the hop on/off bus in Palermo and then take a cab to Mondello beach. Then in Olbia, I would love to spend the day at a beach (close to shops and all). Don't really know where in Olbia though. Any ideas?

Hi Jodie,

Yes, we are doing the Mondello Beach excursion in Palermo so if you guys decide to end up there let me know and we can look for each other.

Vicki, it is indeed a Mad Hatter cake, and I LOVE it! It's probably one of my favorite things to look at in all the wedding pictures  Of course, it tasted pretty amazing, too!

We'd love to see what others are up to on their own! So far I've only started looking at Palermo. It sounds like it can be a little dangerous to wander on your own, so I agree with you Vicki about safety in numbers! We're contemplating the Capuchin catacombs, but haven't decided if it would be interesting, or just freak us out forever! There's many churches and palaces that seem interesting as well. I hadn't heard about the hop on/hop off bus, though!

When I start reading about Olbia, I'll let you know if I find anything that looks good!

This has just been posted and is very interesting if you have not seen it.

Brenda,

Thank you for finding this trip report. Concise and to the point -- I've been getting tired of trying to read current Med trip reports with pages of subscribers and wanting to know if a certain server was on the boat, etc.
I need information -- time is running out.:scared1:

Congratulations Laura and Andy,

How exciting to be starting your married life together on a Med cruise with all of us crazy Disboarders!:rotfl: My wife and I were also married on May 25th and celebrated our Sweet 16 anniversary. Looking forward to meeting you and your husband and hearing about your Disney wedding.

John

I hear Olbia has some lovely beaches with white sand. They must want it kept a secret though since I can not find much information on the web.:surfweb:

We did not sign up for an excursion on this island but would love to go the beach with the children to break up the church/museum excursions. If any one else is interested or knows of a good beach, we can taxi there together (safety in numbers):grouphug: , please let me know and we can finalize plans onboard during lunch.

How do you figure out celsius to farenheit?

And is the consensus that Olbia is the city to have a beach day in?

Final question...how far in advance do you have to cancel your excursions? Have I missed the mark?

Celsius multiply by 9, divide by 5 and add 32 degrees = fahrenheit
25 degrees Celsius = 77 degrees Fahrenheit

I vote for Olbia as a beach day.

I believe you have 48 hours in advance of excursion to cancel without charge.

John

We considered doing a beach on our own but the uncertainty of reliable transportation to/from the port made us decide to go with the panoramic tour of La Maddalena shore excursion.

John, we're thinking the same thing. I haven't been able to find info either on the beaches. We would also like to head over to the beach for the day - preferably a place that has some shopping - just to break up the day. Lets talk on the ship. My kids are 7 and 9.

Max,

I have a 12 year old son, he'll be 13 in August, we can either start a teen/tween thread for boys or you can pm me and I can give you his email address.

Patricia,

I'm not getting anything notorized for my son. If we needed if, Disney would know so I'm not concerned. I have needed it for other trips but I don't feel like dealing with it unless its necessary.

Palermo on your own folks. We are doing this on our own as well. I would love to get together at Leilani's to hear what everyone is doing.

I'm so excited! I can't believe we leave next week! I keep coming up with all these things I think we need! lol I'll end up with precruise credit card shock if I keep it up!

I just read about how cold the last cruise was....I was counting on warm weather! Hmmm...can I special order that? :confused3

Gees, I was really stupid! The first time I read this I thought it was # of days out you could get a forecast! :rotfl: Now I see you meant celsius.

Thanks so much!

I wouldn't think you'd need a letter as long as you're a parent/guardian, but don't know for sure.

Question - has anyone purchased the flight pillows? If so, what type and where did you get them? I have a friend who bought one from the airport for her return flight from Hawaii. She said it really helped her sleep.

Try this web site it has a type of air bed that fits an airplane seat...for $29.00... I guess it would be a whole lot cheaper that 1st class upgrade!!!!
