June 16, 2007 MedHead Cruisers

We didn't stay there, just bought our tix at the gate. BUT..when I was thinking about staying, the options were to buy through the DLP website, DVC, or the cruise had a post excursion package. (which was the same as using th DLP website).

I agree it was pretty expensive. But, I think it was worth it. The room was great. The people were fantastic. The crew was awesome. The sites were breathtaking. And the disboard family was great. So I could not ask for a better cruise. Ok, I could. Maybe a little less expensive. But, I guess that is why I work so hard all year long.

Oh, I totally agree and my parents did too, but since there are 5 of us by the time we added in flights, excursions, insurance, Palo, spa, souveneirs etc. this was a pretty expensive trip. Kind of a once in a lifetime trip for the family although I hope to go one day on my own.

We had five in our family and needed two rooms. Jodie convinced me to downgrade to the lowest room. I am so glad we did. We saved plenty of money and were able to pay for our excursions. The excursions alone cost over $5000.00. So I agree this trip was very pricey. It was our once in a liretime trip. We did it for our sons graduation present. So I am glad we did the trip, but I agree it was pretty expensive.

So jealous of all of you who booked another cruise. My parents said never again. Not because it was bad, just so expensive.

I don't know how she does it either. She definitely comes home beat every day and usually takes a nap for a couple of hours.

Glad it worked out somewhat okay. I just finished uploading all 700 of my pictures. :rolleyes1 That took forever. Now I can get to work on my trip report.
As far as prices are concerned, there are plenty of special deals on Disney cruises. It takes some checking. My DW just booked a 7 day in Oct. 2008. She is already scheduled for Sept. 2007 on the Wonder.

Also, I am sorry to read about travel troubles. We had none, checked our luggage in at Barcelona and picked it up the next afternoon in Orlando.

There is another after the cruise thread which was started by Jeff Spencer. It is called "June 16th Med Cruise report".

I have created a mini-blog which has my photos taken at our pre-cruise dinner in Barcelona. http://smillingjackdinner.blogspot.com. Am not sure if I used one or two "n" in the URL. Any comments concerning who is who will be appreciated and I will update the description.

Sure is nice to continue to chat with our fellow cruisers.

Patricia...pm me with your email so I can send you copies of the pics of jenna and taylor in monaco.

Still winding down from this cruise.

Jack your blog is looking great. It was really nice talking to you and your family. My husband and son loved talking to your wife.

I've got a question for those of you who went to Disneyland Paris...

Who did you book your trip through? So far the only website I've found is for packages from the UK.

Also, I turned our Dec 8th booking over to All Seasons Travel, and have been very happy with them so far.

Hi Wendy,
We booked our room at DLP over the phone with them directly. We would have done it on the internet, however, we wanted the meal plan and there was no option to do that online. Are you planning to go there? Please talk(pm) to me before you do. We were not so pleased with our experience there. Of course, we could be very spoiled by Disney in the US.

Did All Seasons offer you extra shipboard credit or something? We booked a date to 'change later' when the new cruises are announced so I am thinking about turning this over to a TA.

Later,

Vicki

Patricia! I did not know you were ebaying that purse! :scared1: I thought you liked it too much to do that!

My next trip on my list was New York City but I guess an Alaskan cruise is comprable to that. ;) Kidding. Seriously I would love to go on an Alaskan cruise but I would definitely need some time to save for that one unless you're paying. In that case I'll be right on it! :rotfl2: We could have a MedHead Alaskan Adventure reunion!

Silver was on my flight from Barcelonia to Newark. That is the last time I heard from Silver.
I'll PM her and see if she's around. Who else are we missing? Has Wonder checked in yet? Anyone else? Good to see you finally made it, Vicki.

Hey Yall

We made it home after a difficult flight home (Mickeyteachers and I were on the same flight). we did not get to our final destination until 6am Thursday morning, and just got our last piece of lost luggage yesterday.

Dear friends, we had a great time. We also rebooked a dummy date on the ship, and am planning on a 2009 summer trip to whatever the surprise port is!

Lauren, any update on your job? Thanks for the pm--I have been quietly lurking (and you KNOW that is not like me :rotfl: )

Honey, my cruise to Alaska is already booked!!!! I saw your post, and my heart rate went up about 10 beats. I have my entire itinerary done. Unfortunately, I have NO money left - not sure how we're going to swing this one, and Alaska is pricey. We're booked Royal Caribbean on June 20th. If you're serious about going, PM me and I'll send you the details.

Jodie

Hi all...
Nice to hear from you theresa.
I'd love to go to alaska, my sister is bugging me to do it summer 2009. We already have next years trip booked so nothing else can happen next year. Although a friend of mine is trying to get me to do an xmas short day trip. Which would be fun, but I need to pay off the canal first!
Patricia, I'll get the pics to you this weekend.
I'm just hanging out today trying to finish the last of the unpacking. It's not really getting done! Everyone have a great weekend.
Steph

Silver 7 we did not get home till Friday morning at 3:30 a.m. Our flight home was not a lot of fun.
I have been working on hanging up my cruise pictures and putting together my slide show from our trip. I also am working on the scrapbook. Next year we are planning on going to go to Hawaii. So that should be fun.

Good to see you're back safely Teresa. Sorry to hear about the rough trip home. My god, I can't believe all these stories! I did get a job...hostess at Chef Mickey's. I'm having a kind of rough time though actually. I haven't even been gone a week and I miss my friends and miss home, I just want to go back and I haven't even started yet.

Awesome! You'll have to move it to summer 2009 though. Sorry!

See, this is perfect...summer 2009 Alaska. Plenty of time to save for a MedHead reunion!

Sister and I are heading to Epcot to see Spaceship Earth one more time before it goes down for rehab. We're dorks so we really like that ride.

Hmmmm, June 20th - Alaska...not a bad date! What port do you leave from and is it a 7 night cruise?

Lauren-
I have to start planning our travel to florida for next mays cruise. Unfortunately, taylor and I will have MAYBE 2 days at WDW...there's only so much school she can miss...so I need to have opinions on what to do/where to stay. We are dvc members and I just held Old Key West as thats my home resort. I will try to switch to Animal Kingdom in October. I checked out the transfer situation and disney will pick us up for free from the airport and it's 60 for us to get to the ship. BUT...which property will be the best to stay at "convenience" wise. Or does it not really matter. If we only have one day, we'll just do magic kingdom/epcot, but if we have 2 then we'll try to hit all the parks. We can skimp on the kingdom as we have done disneyland/DLP. I dunno...whadda think.
Anyone else can chime in. I haven't been to WDW in 20 years. It's changed ALOT and taylor has never been there, so I just want to get the most accomplished in a very short period of time.

THanks
Steph
