June 16, 2007 MedHead Cruisers

I worked at Disneyland for 3 years, and the Walt Disney Travel Co for 2. I had a great time!

I found out that we have one of the Secret Verandah staterooms on the Dec 8th cruise! Jasmine leaves tomorrow to go to the states for 3 mos. with her Dad. She's been trying to convince him to take a Disney cruise. I heard her on the phone the other day, and she was so funny. She was like a mini brochure:

They are the only cruise line with fireworks at sea

They have the best entertainment of any ships

They are very safe, and have lots of life boats

All the people that work there are so nice

They have a grown up area, where the adults can get away from the kids

Etc, etc

:rotfl2:

Congrats Lauren!:cool1: :cool1:

You are going to have a wonderful summer! We are having some neighbors over to barbeque....a little nervous about the weather, we could definitely get some thunderstorms later.

Back to the kitchen!:goodvibes

Hi Marie~

Just want to say, I enjoyed you & Jeff very much. You sure made our cruise very special!!!! Did you & Jeff get home ok? We were in Piccidilly Circus, a few hours before they found the cars. It explains why immagration in Heathrow & NYC xtra careful & very serious. Very scary :scared1: .

Lauren, my family just came back from a ~HUGE~ 4th of July parade. We are going to the fireworks tonight. I love the 4th. Congrat's on Chef Mickey. My family has many memories there. How are your sisters? Tell them Hi

Is anyone else, getting up around 5:30 every morning? My body clock is still screwy.

Happy 4th everyone

Patricia,

That is way to scarey! It's aweful what these terrorist are doing to our favorite cities. Jeff doesn't want to go anywhere near London after seeing that on the news. I think he could finally put it into perspective knowing so many on the cruise who where flying thru there.

We had a wonderful time on the cruise with you Jenna and of course "Mom"!!! She's a hoot! I wish my mother-in-law was half that fun/normal! lol :goodvibes

Jeff and I have had a bit of a stomach bug since we've been back so neither one of us are moving at top speed. However the work is piling high in my office.:scared1:

All in all it is good to be home!:)

Marie

Yes, Patricia we are all still waking up early @ about 5:30am! It's good for me because I normally get up @ that time for work. But it's not the time the rest of my family gets up. My Dnephew who is normally a night owl now gets up early, which is bad because he works night shift.

Lauren, we just had a quiet day @ our lake house on Conneaut Lake, PA. The weather wasn't too great so we saw a movie (Transformers).

Now, Linda & myself are thinking of when our next cruise will be.

Sue

Everyone's 4th of July plans sounded very nice. I hope they turned out well. :goodvibes

Did you end up getting rained out, Marie?

PJ, aren't you supposed to be unpacking?????
:rolleyes1 Who, me?

I was thinking today that I would love my kids to do what you're doing when they get older. How fun it would be to work for Disney for the summer. I met a retired couple the last time we were at Disney who work at the Beach Club pool. They only work part time - just handing out towels and directing guests and such. They were so cute - and so relaxed and happy. They said that they lived in Orlando for part of the year - worked for Disney only 2 or 3 days / week. I think they only made about $7 an hour, but I guess its all they needed, being retired and all. They said that they were bored not working. I have to admit that their situation was very appealing to me - especially since my hubbie is so stressed out about work half the time - yuck!
That sounds so nice. I think it will be a good opportunity. Either that or it will be downright awful and I'll never want to come back to Disney! Hey, at least I could save some money that way.

How far away from Disney are you guys? How many hours will you work?

Jodie
It's a 10 minute drive to the Magic Kingdom and then obviously farther as you continue onto the property. I'm able to watch Wishes from the front porch. I should be working 35-40 hours.

Sisters are doing well. Little sister is missing us and says it's hard to take on both parents all by herself! :rotfl2: Amanda's had a hard time getting back into the work routine. It's her first time working in those costumes in the summer heat. I'll tell them you say hello. Alison calls you pen lady. lol

Is anyone else, getting up around 5:30 every morning? My body clock is still screwy.

I feel like it was sooo much easier to get back into my routine here than it was to adjust to Barcelona time. I feel perfectly normal (well, as normal as I've ever been ;) )

Sister and I just got back from 'Ohana and the fireworks at the Magic Kingdom. I had never eaten at 'Ohana before...pretty good. I thought dessert was icky though. The fireworks were AMAZING but wow the Magic Kingdom was a zoo!!! I couldn't believe that it wasn't filled to capacity yet. They were perimeter fireworks so they went off all around us. It was beautiful and very moving. Definitely something to see if you're ever in Disney for the 4th.

I would love to be in Disney for the 4th of July. But I am at home. My kids are really excited to light fireworks. We just had home made ice cream. It was sugar free. My husband can not have sugar since he had gastric bypass. It was really good.
We are going to go to Disneyland on July 21st. It is my husbands 45 birthday and he wanted to celebrate in Disneyland. It should be a lot of fun. I am pretty excited about going to Disneyland.

How far do you live from Disneyland? That sounds like a very nice way to celebrate a birthday.

Hi Everyone,

Seems the trips home were as difficult as some of the ones into Barcelona. We know all about the waking up at 5.a.m!!!!

Weather here has been dreadful and we had the loudest storm I can remember on Monday with hail that laid on the ground like snow. Well I guess the drought is now well and truly over.

Also my computer seems to be having some sort of senior moment and losing its way. Have lost my personal filing cabinet and my address book which is a nuisance and I have spent more time than I should trying to sort it out.
Still no luck but at least now I can sign on in my own name not as a guest and that was my doing not the help line.
Just wonder if anyone has had this problem with AOL and can point me in the right direction to get everything back before I throw the thing into the water butt.

We booked another cruise the Western 7 night for December 2008 hoping that different things will come up by then and we can change it around if necessary.

Still need to sort out my pictures especially the one of all of those who attended our little get together in the Promenade Lounge and would love to put names to faces.

What a week - bombers, cars and flooding. Just wonder how the authorities managed to track the people down so quickly you can only be grateful that they do that.
Bren

Hi all! I hope that everybody had a nice 4th of July. It rained here, but we definitely needed it.

Brenda glad things are being sorted out so quickly.

I continue to post pictures and have now posted the sailaway, Palermo, Naples and Rome. More to come...

LOVE your pictures. Funny, I feel like we were on two different trips. Your pics are so different from mine!! I especially liked the ones of Zingaro Park - looks like we did the wrong thing there. We weren't particularly impressed with Palermo. Looking forward to seeing the rest of them.

PJ, I don't know how your sister stands wearing costumes during the summer. Although we love Disney, we have vowed never to return during the summer. The heat just zaps all the energy right out of us.

I miss Europe - ready to go back already.

Jodie

Love your pictures Virgil. It is always nice to see other guests pictures. Jodie I agree. I am ready for another vacation. I am already tired of cleaning my house. So I think today I am going to begin working on creating my slide show from our Europe vacation and work on all of my scrapbooks.
Since this trip was my sons graduation present I am making him a scrabbook about the trip. I also have to make one for my 8 year old. So that will be really fun. I love scrapbooking.
I am glad we are going to Disneyland in a couple of weeks. That should be pretty relaxing. We are staying at the hotel in California Adventure. This way we can go into the park in the morning and in the afternoon we can go back to the hotel and go swimming. We purchased a season pass so we can go as many times as we want this year. It is really nice. One year we went every month to Disneyland. We live 6 hours from Disneyland so it is a little bit of a trip to drive. But, I love Disney.

Hi fellow Medhead cruisers!

We had an eventful trip home after 2 nights in Barcelona (very nice city BTW), and luggage is still MIA! Our trip was not as bad as some I have just read, but we did have a zillion delays sarting when DCL transfers were useless -- Mickey stood us up. :scared1:
When we landed in LA, immigration computers were down so spent a few hours with 700+ of our closest friends in a large huddle....hmmm.

No luggage, missed airport bus, no rental cars....oh well, eventually got here sans luggage, but at least we got to travel light! :goodvibes

And we were bumped to business class for the long haul from london to lax -- a bright light in the dark travel tunnel!!

So, so happy to have met the ones of you that I was able to -- and what a nice surprise to have such great tablemates of Patricia, Pat & Jenna! You guys were wonderful! And what great servers we had in Sammy & Walter! The first cruise I've had where we had such service such as DH having lobster delivered to him in the stateroom when he wasn't feeling well!!! Too cool! I loved the food on this cruise -- must have been lucky!

We booked a bogus cruise to get the shipboard credit & are also hoping for another Med. cruise in 2009 to shift it to. Wonderful weather, company, excursions.... wonderful time! Only wish I didn't always feel so rushed & could have met more of my fellow medhead cruisers!!

So many horror travel stories...but we are all ready to go back! LOL :) Sometimes the grief is worth it!

Lauren,

My cookout wasn't a total bust, I was almost finished barbequeing when it started to rain slightly. However, no fireworks in this town last night, it poured! Oh well, we had good food and good company...what else could you want!

I'm finally going thru my pictures on the pc...it sure is time comsuming. I can't wait to have something put together but it will take a while.

Marie

My DD was gone to camp this week so I have had some time to scrapbook. So far I have spent about 15 hours on our Med. scrapbook and I'm only through Rome!!! I am still shooting to try to get it finished by the end of next week.:hourglass

Booklover,

Good for you, the best time is while everything is still fresh. I'm worried if I wait too long I won't know where I was! LOL

Marie

So jealous of all of you who booked another cruise. My parents said never again. Not because it was bad, just so expensive.

I don't know how she does it either. She definitely comes home beat every day and usually takes a nap for a couple of hours.

Glad it worked out somewhat okay. I just finished uploading all 700 of my pictures. :rolleyes1 That took forever. Now I can get to work on my trip report.

I agree it was pretty expensive. But, I think it was worth it. The room was great. The people were fantastic. The crew was awesome. The sites were breathtaking. And the disboard family was great. So I could not ask for a better cruise. Ok, I could. Maybe a little less expensive. But, I guess that is why I work so hard all year long.

I've got a question for those of you who went to Disneyland Paris...

Who did you book your trip through? So far the only website I've found is for packages from the UK.

Also, I turned our Dec 8th booking over to All Seasons Travel, and have been very happy with them so far.
