June 15, 2012 - 2 Night Getaway on the Disney Magic from NYC!

Just getting caught up after being on the Wonder for 15 days to Hawaii...this is a crazy month!!! I have three NYC cruises (gulp) I leave on the 8 day, then this is the second of a B2B...my first that I can drive to...no AIR!!! WOO HOO!!!


First Cayla, a belated congratulations. I also had a fried computer, and then was away. Just returned, and hooked up a netbook, but the boards are running slow on it. I THINK I added our names to the googledoc for lanyards, but yours were the only other names I saw there. If no one else joins in, I guess the plan would be cancelled? Keep me updated.

Not sure what Michael is planning here - he worked the whole cruise to Hawaii - I have reached out to him and will keep everyone posted!

We are in Bergen County,fairly short trip.
Where??? I live near Paramus!

No parking,we just pay the driver. $60.00 plus tolls,tax,and tip. Not bad for four people.
WHAT COMPANY??? We could find anyone under 100!! So I begged a friend to drive us in!!!
 
well - the close date passed while I was away - but if there are any late entries please, please let me know...otherwise the list will be final (and short!)


I will have a write on board on my cabin door (7631) for any changes in cabins, printed lists will be available if anyone feels I need to make them.

So I am excited about this trip. Though I can't get excited right now since I've felt sick since last night, but tomorrow and Friday I have off so hopefully get better.
 
OK - I FINALLY have information about them....Michael emailed me an image of what they are going to look like...I like them a lot!

I added his paypal address to the Google Doc for each cruise (three are going to be the same lanyard, since they are all inaugural cruises from NYC) Michael has already ordered them and they will arrive by Thursday!!!

He is asking for contributions of 25.00 from each group that indicated they would assist in the costs. So, if you signed up with multiple people saying "yes" then ONE contribution of 25.00 is all he is asking for.

Has anyone else not yet received their travel docs from DCL? :scared1:

If it saves you angst - you really don't need them. Print the forms from your online check-in and once at the port, you ask the porters for luggage tags. The desk agent will have all the necessary papers for you to sign. I seldom bring them along at this point.
 
is there a dis meet for this cruise? Just wondering haven't been following this thread a lot, but hope to meet some of you:cool1:
 
I do not have anything startling to add to this discussion,but I hope the weather is exactly as it is today. WE will be sitting on our beautiful deck for dinner this evening, with the friends who are cruising with us in June, and a friend who cruised with us in 2007. Good mix of old memories and new dreams.

I realize this is late in the grand scheme of things ... BUT ... I was wondering if there are any single cruisers (one person in a stateroom), who might be looking to reduce their cruise fare by cruising with a room mate? Either that, OR, do you have someone in your stateroom, who is no longer able to attend the cruise?

I am a 50 year old married male, Platinum Castaway Club member living in suburban Philadelphia, looking to sail on a 2-day Magic / NYC cruise. I am a non-smoker, and have no problems dining 1st or 2nd seating. Since I am Platinum, everyone in my stateroom would be entitled to one free PALO dinner. In addition, anyone in my party would be able to board as early as 11AM.

If you have potential interest, or wish to talk about this, please contact me via PM ... I will not be subscribing to this thread.

I would just like to clarify something in response to a PM I received. We are NOT selling these lanyards. They are a free gift to any who sign up. The contribution we are asking for is just that...a voluntary contribution to say you are part of the lanyard support team.

This has been the practice for many cruises and done by many people. I do not want anyone to feel that we are trying to extort and coerce anyone. The lanyard originator (in this case Michael) usually takes a bath in the costs. There are minimum number of lanyards to purchase, and the cost of printing all the name tags as well as a set up charge for a custom lanyard to consider.

If my syntax has led to any confusion regarding this, my apologies - this is all meant to be a fun process and to provide each of us with a cute and useful way to remember the cruise.

I am sure that the moderators would have sent me a message if they felt I was trying to sell something (against the rules of the Dis!) on these boards, I have not received any such notice or PM...so please understand Michael chose to take on the lanyard production knowing that he was going to spend the money. He enjoys seeing other people have fun with what he gives away. So please - thank him, wear the lanyard and have a great cruise!!!!

Cayla, I haven't been able to get to the board lately - I saw your pm first, and sent some $$ before reading all this. Hope I was able to help.

Glad you enjoyed Hawaii on the WONDER.

I will be bringing a boat downriver on Friday, hope my timing coincides with the MAGIC's arrival. I'll probably be later, though, but I should be able to get photos of her tied up at the Manhattan pier.:yay:

you are welcome - it hasn't been overly difficult but everyone on these threads has been really good about answering. On some cruises the organizer is chasing folks until the second day to get cabin numbers.

I am falling off the planet again - off to the Magic on her FIRST NYC DEPARTURE! We leave tomorrow so I will not be around.

I will have printed copies of the list for everyone when we board. The meet n greet is when the lanyards and lists are given out usually - Michael Cathy and I will already be onboard from the prior cruise so we will be ready to meet everyone!
