I am happy that I don't have to pack too many changes of clothing, light suitcase.
Me too!

When you get back, I would like to hear about the NYC embarkation, seeing the sights in the harbor, etc.
have fun on the Magic, I want to know a few things after, one is what time the port opens and two is everyone about the 8 day, I'll be doing on of them in August![]()
So how does it feel to be fifty??? Got that AARP all geared up and ready to go???It really hit home when I got the real application in the mail. DH said to join for the discounts....go figure
Anyway my 50 buddies....can you guys let me know your real names for our get together...gonna be kind of wierd to call you by the disboard names...![]()
I have to say it was pretty painless. Once you enter the terminal on the lower level, you take a HUGE elevator up to the upper level. There is a lot of signage to direct you to your castaway club level, or to an area for first time cruisers. Like in Port Canaveral, you get a boarding card, and then off to the walkway to board. This is a little different. You are "keyed" onto the ship before you get to the outside walkway (covered). Once there the walk is short and has a couple of turns. There is a short ramp to get onto the ship and your name is announced and from there it is business as usual.
I hope that explains what you were looking for - are you looking for more information about the on ship process?
Michael had set up a special precruise even - we were on a ferry boat and greeted the Magic as she passed Lady Liberty. We had HUGE speakers onboard and played the Fantasy's horns at the Magic, the crew were exstatic...it was GREAT. Plus we got to see her new bumper sticker! We got back to the port at noon, since the ship hadn't arrived until 11:15 at the terminal, there was no point in getting there any earlier. Since I will be on the June 10 cruise, we are planning to have our ride pick us up at 10am for a 10:45 embarkation. There isn't much point in getting there any earlier, since they have to clean everything as well as loading stuff. There were many porters for luggage, security was fairly easy...the agents were laughing at my stuff! I had packed all my wine and liquor in file boxes and used my industrial grade wheels to haul them around. One commented "this box is ALSO full of booze - this girl can drink!" We took a case of Strongbow Cider, 13 bottles of wine, 1 box of sangria, 1 liter of Amaretto, and half a liter of sweet tea vodka...ended up bringing home 2 bottles of wine, 2 bottles cider & the amaretto (unopened). I tell people if you are bringing stuff on board, be sure to have a receipt for that bottle - this way there is no question about tax/tarrif
My real name is Julia, but people really do call me Marla(don't know why got that name freshman year of high school during basketball season and it still is used by some, was only used by 5 or so people back then anyway as well)![]()
Julia - I don't think we knew you were part of the "50" club...welcome. Right now I was referring to NJmermaid and BCBN (I think that's the name)...we all turn 50 in June and were meeting in my room at 4 pm on embarkation day for a drink to celebrate....please join us....I'm in the Roy suite....
might be a bit early unless you are platinum, we arrived and walked right on, but the ship was deadheaded from Florida. Usually they don't let folks on until after 12lol about the huge speakers. I was thinking we should get there around 10:30-11:00, so seems like from what I have heard from random people I was about right on time for going![]()
Cathy and I qualify...we are 51 now. Would we be able to visit the suite? She has never seen it and I would love for her to get to!Julia - I don't think we knew you were part of the "50" club...welcome. different type of ship all together...you won't be disappointed. The crew is much friendlier I think. So is anyone else that cruised the Fantasy worried the magic might not live up too what it once was? I sure am, hope I am wrong though![]()
