The Grand is right in the middle of Downtown Disney and central to EVERYthing Disney. Perfect place to stay... not that any of their hotels are not equally located... they are actually all RIGHT there pretty much in the same place and a short walk to both parks. And I hope you won't be disappointed by our DTD as it is not nearly as large as the one in Florida... One place I will tell you NOT to eat is Tortilla Joe's. It is terrible and the service is WORSE! Goofy's Kitchen is great for brunch, lunch, or dinner... but nice/fancy (fine dining) don't miss dinner at Blue Bayou... you need reservations... or the wait is loooooooong, but well worth it. WE love to eat there when we can get in. It is actually located inside the Pirates of the Caribbean.... you see the boats go by as you sit in the restaurant and you can see the fire flies in the distance and hear the owls.. it is really nice in there.

Well i hope i have not waited too long to make a reservation.
I will most likley be doing that on Saturday when i am more sure of what days we will be doing the parks.

I have heard alot of good things about BLUE BAYOU so i am sure that will be the palce for us to go!

thanks

You should not have a problem booking this early... we can usually get there EARLY in the morning to make reservations for dinner... and if not, there is always "stand-by" or what ever it is they call it when you just wait in line. But since you are calling at least a month in advance, you should get what ever you want.

AWESOME!

Well i have gone over and over what we want to do in LA, but a package not buy a package do yours not do toursand have fianlly decided not to purcashe a package but we are going to do seeral tours.

NOW, on to the days in DL!

WOW!

Now i understand why i usally do this in year and not in 6 weeks.......(PLAN A VACATION)

I will need a vacation from planning my vaation.....................HAHAHA
I guess that IS MY VACATION!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Lynn - we live just over the river in Saint Charles. We are relatively close to the Casino and the Historic Downtown area. Do you know where that is?

it sucks!!! we stayed at the paradise pier, we loved it, they have a great waterslide. but we did the character breakfast, and it was just sucked. the characters were lilo & stitch, max & goofy. the food was so so, not too good, and the interaction was minimal, not worth the price.

the character dinner at Goofy's Kitchen is awesome, like sandy said!!! totally interactive, better food, and fun!!!! they have (had) instruments for the kids to play, and it's very kid friendly.

i love disneyland, we go every year, except this year :)

i am so excited about the food. do you all bring extension cords for the rooms? i am reading all the tips.

also, have we decided if we are going to do fish extenders every night or how are we going to do it, i need to start shopping. Sandy, are we going to get a list ahead of time? or do we buy items that can be for a b/g young or older?

i feel overwhelmed, there is only a month left. i can't beleive we are so close. does anyone bingo? i am totally going to bingo? does anyone go to the cooking classes or other activities? my mom wants to do some of those.

where has huerita been?

my kids will be in the clubs, do you find that your kids "don't want to leave" are there any that are noth worth going to? i saw the list of activities, they look fun. my son is 7, my dd is 5 and my dd is 3. i think the luau party sounds fun for my 3 yr old.
are there any activites they should not do?

1. you MUST bring an extention cord, if not two!
2. last year was the 1st time we played BINGO and we were addicted! be careful, it gets pricey!
3. we've always wanted to do the cooking classes and other activites but end up being too busy! we might try this year!
4. year 1 DD didn't want to leave the clubs at all! years 2 and 3 she did, but we also were with another couple and I think their daughter was the one wanting to leave the most. the biggest draw outside of the clubs is the pool! there aren't really any activites i would NOT do - you should try everything you can and see what you like!

Mendoza5... how far are you from Disneyland? We are in Oceanside...65 miles south of Disneyland..so an hour away. We are AP holders and "manage" to go at least once a month.
Yes, bring an extension cord AND a power strip so you will have multiple outlets for charging your camera, computer, phones, etc.
Huerita had been really REALLY busy with the Baby Celebration show in LA and now that is over, she is playing catch up with her "real" job. I see her every day as I watch her little grand daughter, so I'm keeping her up to date as to what is going on this board.
The Fish Extender gifts are whatever you feel like giving, boy/girl/adult. Some people make special things for certain people like boys or girls, others are basically generic, non-gender related items. Its whatever you like to gift.

Lynn
... also the Lunch at Ariels Grotto in DCA is wonderful. Not too pricey and the character interaction is great. You get the Big 5 plus a few others. Reservations are accepted, but not necessary.

2. last year was the 1st time we played BINGO and we were addicted! be careful, it gets pricey!

We played Bingo and my DH LOVED it.
He wanted everyone in our party to play (10 people) so he invited them all and got cards for everyone on 2 different occasions! :scared1:
He was unaware of the price! :rotfl:
When we got the bill he was flipping out! "Why didn't you STOP me!?!"
:rotfl2:

My 2 kids were in the kids areas almost non stop.......they are 11 and 15.

We did play bingo on the last day when the jack pot was really big!

It was fun.dont know if we will do it again this year.

But i do want to do some other things we did nt do last time, cooking stuff, beer stuff, wine stuff, margareeta stuff, (GET THE IDEA);) .

I can believe i only have about 8+4 days off before we leave for the cruise, i am hardly going to be ready to go.
The +4 dont count as i am not going to be home i have to fly into DC and then drive about 4.5 hours to my sons college graduation.

I have decided to MAKE:scared1: my DD formal dress!
HA!

i am totally playing bingo. i am in the central valley in ca, so we are about 5 hours away. we are near a lot of the casinos up here, but i have never gone. my friends and family go, but i don't. that is why i am looking forward to bingo on the ship. i did hear that it was pricey, but we have a nice obc, so i am going to use some of that. we are not doing palo. i know i know...but we'll catch it next time, i'd probably get called out anyway by the kids club. :) it's just not big of a deal to us.

did you all like the food? i have been reading that it looks great, but doesn't taste that good, ad the desserts are mostly for show, and lack substance. more than one person has written that. i am looking forward to the grilled shrimp with linguini.
do you all do mickey bars daily? i am also looking foreward to cookies and milk from roomservice. would we pay for the milk by roomservice, i know i can grab cartons and bring it back to the room.
BTW, if your all wondering why is this girl always talking about food...i have started working out, and am on a meal plan, i go to the gym at night, adn right now i would love to eat a big bowl of cereal, or anything, but i can't eat after 8 pm. it's worth it though, i am toning up.
my son has his suits for formal night, my girls have beautiful dresses, and i have nothing yet. :confused3 i will be doing cruise shopping in the next few weeks, then we go!!
we are on the main dining seating, i don't know what time yet. has anyone gotten thier cruise docs? i was wondering if we were going to get an upgrade, but we already have room numbers assigned to us, so i don't think so huh?
dizzi, you must rock to take on that mission..making a formal dress. lucky you, you have time to do that. good luck, ibet it will be beautiful!!!
talk to you all soon.

I have decided to MAKE:scared1: my DD formal dress!
HA!

YIKES!!! :thumbsup2 Good for you!
I would NEVER even consider such a project, but then again, I don't sew things that "matter" ... I do little projects that only require straight line stitching or a hem... and a few crafts, BUT A WHOLE DRESS!?.. and a FORMAL at that! NO WAY!
I can't wait to see what you make, I bet it will be beautiful. :woohoo:
When will you find the time? I'm already freaking out about packing! I want my DH to get the suitcases down so I can start arranging my clothes in them, but of course he won't do it.

I'm sure that we will also play Bingo, as my DH loves it...
but I'm sure that he won't invite everyone he knows this time. :lmao:

So far, we are LATE dining... we are "wait-listed" for main dining, but I doubt it will change.

As far as upgrades go... I'm x-ing my fingers, but not holding my breath. :rotfl:

Palo... DH and I have never been and really do not care if we do or not. Like you said, it is not that big of a deal to us either. We like the hub-bub of the restaurants with all our family around us.

AND the food... I don't know what you have heard or what you have read...
but who ever wrote or said that must have their own "Oprah type" chef at home who makes wonderful meals for them, but to me, the food is out of this world FABULOUS. And the deserts are to die for.
Maybe it is me... but I LOVE the food and the desserts. And Mickey Bars, ... ummmmmmmmmmmm-mmmmm.
EVERYthing is great, and I can't wait to get there and be SERVED and WAITED on. :woohoo:

WELL!
My DH got a promotion at work today!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
One we have been waiting on for about 4 months...............

SO I MAY NOT SEW A DRESS AFTER ALL!!!!!!!!!!!:cool1:

I really dont have the time, i work 50 hours a week, but i do love to do it, one day maybe in my dreams i will have time.

But i am going to look a little bit longer for what we want and if i cant find it i will still make it.

We are a little picky when it comes to our clothes for the cruise only becasue we want them to match in color for PICTURES! And my dress is different colors of green and muted yellows sort of hard to match. I only wore the dress one time , and it was to palo last year and it is very comfy AND BEST PARt. I can were flip flops with it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!aND NOONE KNOWS!

PALO.......we love palo and wish we had gottenin to the cruise earlier to be able to get a dinner and brunch spot but all we have is HIGH TEA.but i keep checkign everyday, and we will waitlist when we get on board.

DINNER....We have second seating which is what we perfer!!

ROOMS.....we dont have our room # yet, but the lasy told me that there were not alot left and that is why we got GTY..........But when i booked it seemed to be there was a lot of choices left as far as categories so i HOPE we get an p grade but will be satisfied with what ever!!!!

What excursions are you guys doing???????

I sat here in front of the computer last night for about 3 hours trying to decide and i have to say i am not impressed with the pickings we have.

All i can early decide that i REALLY want to do is the horse back riding in CABO, but then that takes up hours that we could be doing soem of the better picks of the whole time we are in MEXICO.

LIKE the 4x4s i think would be cool to drive.

But i think we need to do one tour, just to see MEXICO,

I just dont know what to do.............
BUT i really want to do the HORSE BACK RIDING!!!!!!!

Really, Sandy

I am a bit scared to do things on our own.

i saw a horse back riding tour i would have done but and asnorkeling one also but i am afrid we wont be back to the ship, or get taken...etc etc

what stop are youguys ging shopping in?

How many are in your group?

Being scared is a good thing, always be a bit scared to do things outside of Disney... at least that is how I feel about booking things on my own... I don't want to end up lost, mugged or worse STOLEN! But if you book with Disney, they always make sure that you are back on time.

Anyway, there are 8 of us... 4 women, 2 men, 2 children. I plan on shopping EVERYwhere that I am allowed off the ship. I usually try to get AT LEAST a post card... maybe an outfit or purse too. In Cabo, Huerita is taking us to some restaurant that is supposed to have great shrimp... :crazy2: I'm not a seafood eater, so I'm not excited about this at all, but she and my DH are drooling just thinking about it. Do you want to shop with us?

OH i would LOVE to shop with you but i think my kids would hate it........so we willhave to decide wht excursions we r going to do first.

At this point we are thinking about the The 4x4 tour.
