June 1, 2008 7-Night Mexican Riviera Cruise All Aboard is now back on Land

Fish Extender question again... didn't we have a couple of newbies join recently? What does that take the Fish Extender count up to? :teacher:

I finally made progress on the fish extender stuff today! :cool1: Planning for 20...hope I'm OK.

And the post cards we bring should have what on them again? Just want to be sure I have those covered also - may not be able to get those until I'm at the airport on the way out of town. :scared:

IF you are NOT listed and you WANT to play, please let me know so I can add your name.

I have compiled this information along with our room numbers on my Personal DIS Navigator that I will hand out to each one of us on Boarding Day OR at the DIS meet on Monday 10am by Scoops/Goofy's Galley.

WHO is doing the scrapbook exchange? :grouphug:
I do not have a total for this...
I do know that I will be there...
Who else? :confused3

I found my lanyard! :woohoo:

AND I bought my postcards last night :cool1:... I bought 20.

I'm getting my fish extender things together and I didn't realize that I have quite a lot of stuff...
I still have to get some cute bags or something to put the stuff in so that it won't be spilling out of my bags.

We have 8 days people!
I think its time to panic!
:scared1:

OH, one more thing!...

Unfortunately, Fish Extenders have been known to grow legs and walk away...
you come back to your room expecting to find some goodies stashed in your extender and instead you find it is GONE!

Get a "club" for your extender. I'm not sure what they are really called, but it is a plastic tie thing like the police use to handcuff people. Does that make sense? Anyway, If anyone wants one, I will bring one for you... but you are responsible to bring something to clip it off on the last day so you can take your extender home with you. You will need scissors or nail clippers to remove the club.

And the post cards we bring should have what on them again? Just want to be sure I have those covered also - may not be able to get those until I'm at the airport on the way out of town. :scared:

Post cards should have some reference to your hometown / state.
and your name / address /email information on the back so perhaps people can share cruise pictures or whatever with you after the cruise. :flower3:

I have a feeling you will be more prepared than even us veteran cruisers!!!

I've posted some tips before but I wil go over them again for any other newbies.

Bring an extension cord and power supply strip for extra outlets... there aren't many in the rooms.

Buy one of those airfreshner/night lights for the bathroom. Even rooms with verandahs get dark at night, and the bathrooms can smell. Not overly offensive, but still...

Get 2 way radio/walkie talkies that can be used on the ship and in the ports.

If you drink, get a soft sided rolling cooler and fill it up on the way to port. No ice!

Bring LOTS of sunscreen! It's expensive on the ship!

I have found my lanyard to be irreplaceable!!!

Bring pillowcases and different colored Sharpie markers. Drop it off at guest services and they will bring it back, signed by the characters!

Try not NOT MISS Palo!!!

Don't forget your daybag!

Don't plan a shroe excursion at every port. Take at least one port to just explore on your own.

Do not overpack! You will no matter what I say, but our family of three can do the whole week in just two normal sized suitcases. Don't even bother to pack denim since its really too casual. During the day, you are always in a swimming suit, and at night you dress for dinner. One pair of nice black slacks with different tops and one pair of black shoes will work. Then maybe a dress or two for the fancier nights. That is all you need!

And DO relax. I was so over planned my 1st trip that I spent the sail away party crying up on Deck 10 by myself! Its completely overwhelming when you get on the ship and probably takes a full day to get adjusted, so just try to relax!

OH TAHNK YOU SO MUCH FOR THAT!!! I CAN SEE MYSELF BEING AT THE SAIL AWAY OBSESSING OVER WHAT I DIDN'T GET DONE AND FORGOT. I have to have a forward focus, I bought water shoes today for all the kids, and some swimsuits. Old Navy is having a memorial day sale, so I might go hit that tonight.

IF YOU NEED ONE LET ME KNOW BY TUESDAY, THEY ARE ZIP TIES, WE USE THEM AT MY WORK, WED IS MY LAST DAY AT WORK!!!! WHOO HOO. THANK YOU EVERYONE FOR YOUR KIND WORDS ABOUT WHAT TO EXPECT.

I have people covered with the Fish Extender Clubs also - they're in our Fish Extender treat bags for each room participating. ;) We'll try to deliver ours the first day - after Sail Away so that they're useful, in case you forget yours or didn't bring one.

Company just called - they're not coming to visit tomorrow. :sad2: :yay: Mixed emotions since we did want to see them and they don't get up this way often enough - but it does give us some time to get the suitcases out and pack. :rolleyes1

AAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

FREAKIN OUT HERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

the 8 suitcases was from last cruise i am trying really hard to get it down to 4 large and 2 carry ons!!!!!

I AM having a very hard go of this!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

For some reason this time around.
:scared1: :scared1: :scared1: :scared1: :scared1: :scared1:

I guess i really took advantage of the whole year i had last time versus the 6 weeks i had this time!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:scared1:

Lynn,

You sound like me. I am trying to figyre a way to. I am putting my lap top in a cary on so that we could put hings in there. Like you said ipds, etc there goes the space. I can see paying for one but I sure do not want to pay for more then one. I also do not want to make the suitcase to heavy that I have to pay because it is over the limit.:scared1:

You guys and your many many suitcases crack me up!

As for carry on's on the plane, here is what we do...

One carry on is our rolling cooler. We fill that with travel docs and such, things we can carry or throw in the suitcase once we get off the plane. Of course, we want the rolling cooler EMPTY when we are done flying so we can stop and fill it with beer before we get to the port!

The other carry on is our beach bag. I usually throw my "purse items" in that, along with cameras, etc. The beach bag also doubles as our day bag....

And that's it! Two carry ons that double as funtional items when we are on the ship, and then we allow ourselves two suitcases. This is for 3 people too!

Oh, and we MAY bring a garment bag... maybe.

I wrote my packing list tonight. It pretty much consists of:

1 pair of black pants with different tops for different nights.
2 pairs of capris with with various basic tops
1 khaki skirt that goes with the basic tops that also go with the capris
2 swimming suits with covers ups
1 pair of flip flops that can be worn with capris or a swim suit
1 pair of shoes for dinner
1 casual jacket
1 dressier cardigan
2 dresses for semi formal and formal night
2 pairs of pajamas

DONE!

Explain to me EXACTLY why you need a lap top while on vacation???? :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

I do not travel without my laptop. Along with being an over planner, I am a firm believer of "what if" prevention... :rotfl:

What IF I drop my camera over board and it sinks to the bottom of the ocean... :scared1:
What if
I misplace it or it gets "borrowed" while I'm out in town?...
I try to prepare for such a catastrophic event by emptying my memory stick each night so that in the minor chance that something happens to my camera, I at least have my pictures that I have taken up until that day.

.... of course, then there is the "what if" possibility of the laptop getting knocked off the table or getting rolled over by the car, or walking out of the room with the room steward... but I'm VERY careful with the laptop. :surfweb:

OK... your list looks pretty good... but you don't list how many tops for the 4 bottoms....

I finally started packing last night... I feel much better about everything now.
No panic attack needed... well, maybe just a little one...
My DH can't find his pirate clothes!.. :scared1: (Don't you have them?)

Anyway, here is what I've got :
Remember that I'm an over planner and "what if" preparer...
(... what if I spill something on my top, rip my pants, hate how it looks, I need options)

Formal/Semi Formal Night (no dresses this time)
2 pair of black pants with 4 different tops for 2 different nights
Pirate Night outfit w/hat pirate:
Tropical Night outfit
2 LIME GREEN tops
khaki capri's with 6 different tops (not counting the lime green ones)
blue capri's w/top
teal capri's w/top
lavender capri's w/top
white capri's w/top
blue striped capri's w/top
brown striped capri's w/top
1 casual character jacket
Limited Jewelry assortment
NO swimsuit (I know, I know... brought 5 last trip, never got in the pool)
3pr pajamas
8pr socks
Undies for 8 days
1pr flip flops, 1pr crocks, 3pr dressy sandals (hey, I'm on vacation)
AND I'm still considering taking tennis shoes

OK... I just realized that I have 18 tops for 8 days...:scared: actually 6 days if you take out Pirate and Tropical Night...
maybe I've OVER packed again...(you think)
I'll try to down size.... but before you judge me... my DH has MORE stuff than I do!... :rotfl:

Formal/Semi Formal Night (no dresses this time) yay for you!
2 pair of black pants with 4 different tops for 2 different nights perfect!!!!
Pirate Night outfit w/hat pirate: yay! I can't wait to see it!
Tropical Night outfit how cute!
2 LIME GREEN tops
khaki capri's with 6 different tops (not counting the lime green ones) yikes! try ONE top!
blue capri's w/top
teal capri's w/top
lavender capri's w/top
white capri's w/top
blue striped capri's w/top
brown striped capri's w/top these all seem good. I seem to wear the same pair of capris and the same shirt more than once, but then again, i am in the water a lot so when I am wearing clothes, its usually for only an hour or so. I also travel to and from the port in the same outfit - my TRAVEL clothes I call them!
1 casual character jacket
Limited Jewelry assortment
NO swimsuit (I know, I know... brought 5 last trip, never got in the pool) bring one at least - you never know when those mojitos will kick in and you will get daring!!!!
3pr pajamas
8pr socks SOCKS??? You can't wear socks in the Mexican Riviera! It's sandals all the way!
Undies for 8 days
1pr flip flops, 1pr crocks, 3pr dressy sandals (hey, I'm on vacation) I totally agree with the shoe count!
AND I'm still considering taking tennis shoes i wouldn't. crocs are comfortable even for long distance walking. But again ,where are you planning to wear all of these socks???

Does that help????

:lmao: :lmao: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl: :rotfl:
OK,
I just read on another thread that it's called OCP (Obcessive Compulsive Personality), not OCD (Obcessive Compulsive Disorder) so everyone is OK:lmao: :lmao: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl: :rotfl:
