hi everyone, i'm back from training. i can't beleive it is 9 days until we head down there. i have been watching your cruise clocks for over a year now, adn we are down to 9 days!!! i am starting to feel overwhelmed becuase of all the sites i bookmarked, i now need to go through. i don't want to miss anything on the ship!!! i know so many people say to relax and enjoy, but i really want to make the most of every minute. are there any tips for what us newbies shouldn't miss. i am bring the different colored highlighters for each family memeber, and all the things youall suggested packing. i know to let the kids call room service, and the free drinks are on deck 9. can you please give me any specail tips that you veterans have learned? i am feeling anxious, probably because i still need to shop. we need water shoes and everyone needs one more swim suit.
Enchanted, totally rock your snow white costume. i was thinking of the girls bringing thiers, Cinderella (from Downtown Disney) and Ariel.
I am thinking of too much, it'll all come together, ready or not.

I have a feeling you will be more prepared than even us veteran cruisers!!!

I've posted some tips before but I wil go over them again for any other newbies.

Bring an extension cord and power supply strip for extra outlets... there aren't many in the rooms.

Buy one of those airfreshner/night lights for the bathroom. Even rooms with verandahs get dark at night, and the bathrooms can smell. Not overly offensive, but still...

Get 2 way radio/walkie talkies that can be used on the ship and in the ports.

If you drink, get a soft sided rolling cooler and fill it up on the way to port. No ice!

Bring LOTS of sunscreen! It's expensive on the ship!

I have found my lanyard to be irreplaceable!!!

Bring pillowcases and different colored Sharpie markers. Drop it off at guest services and they will bring it back, signed by the characters!

Try not NOT MISS Palo!!!

Don't forget your daybag!

Don't plan a shroe excursion at every port. Take at least one port to just explore on your own.

Do not overpack! You will no matter what I say, but our family of three can do the whole week in just two normal sized suitcases. Don't even bother to pack denim since its really too casual. During the day, you are always in a swimming suit, and at night you dress for dinner. One pair of nice black slacks with different tops and one pair of black shoes will work. Then maybe a dress or two for the fancier nights. That is all you need!

And DO relax. I was so over planned my 1st trip that I spent the sail away party crying up on Deck 10 by myself! Its completely overwhelming when you get on the ship and probably takes a full day to get adjusted, so just try to relax!

YES YES RELAX!!!! it is soooooo different than planning for a on land vacation that even i still try to over plan, knowing i dont need too!

look at your navigator at night before bed, plan what you want to do each day and DO IT!!!!!!!!!

last year i did not look at it much and i didnt plan much excpet run around and get kids from clubs...................I REFUSE TO DO THIS this year!

they will come with me or stay put until i am doen what i want to do!

We also bring a small fan as my Dh is VERY HOT all the time and he used it often especially when everyone was showering!!!!!!!!!

also

we will be bringing our MAGIC BULLET a small blender that makes one drink at a time blended we get ice and fruit from deck and take back to room mix with own alchohol and WAALAAA own personal drink of the day!!!

I'm a cryer too! :rotfl:
I always cry at sail away... it is just such an emotional time for me... I think part of it is that we are FINALLY on the ship as it has been so long in the planning and it is finally happening, the other part is that it is just so touching for me to be on board with my family... to be able to share this experience with them and know that I am giving them a beautiful memory that will last a lifetime... again! :rotfl:

Flo,
Have a wonderful time at your son's graduation. It's a proud experience for everyone...I am getting soooo excited! And remember to relax, this is a vacation:rotfl:

Someone posted this for me not too long ago......
I think it is on the disneycruise line site.

But i will check and see for you........

BRB

I cant find it to copy and paste but i can tell you as i have it written down....

MONDAY sea day.........Formal Night

THURSDAY.................Pirate Night

FRIDAY......................Semi Formal

i am just in the process of double checking one of my bags before i close it up for good.

I have written down what should be in there.

I just cant get a handle on how i am going to go from Cruise to hotel with my clothes organized and know where anything is.

I was also hoping to be able to not have to have each of us take a carry on but i see no way around it, with ipods and games and earphones and magazines and what ever else the kids want i guess we will have to each own carry on.

ANY FREQUENT FLYERS know a better way?

please!!!

Brandy,

Here you go.

Day 1 Embarkation - Casual
Day 2 At Sea - Formal
Day 3 Cabo San Lucas - Casual
Day 4 Mazatlan - Casual
Day 5 Puerto Vallarta - Pirate Night
Day 6 At Sea - Semi-Formal
Day 7 At Sea - Casual

Lynn,

"8" Suitcases!!:)

What is it going to cost you with the airlines charging for the 2nd bag and more at 25.00 a suitcase.:) :)

I was told I better fit everything in three suitcases. I told my DH that we may have to pay for one.

I can't believe that American airlines is even chargins 15.00 for the first bag.

I am jealous of the people that don't have to take a plane!:)

Great info on the dress for each night! Thanks!! :thumbsup2

I still haven't started packing - though I may get the suitcases out tonight. We have company coming tomorrow and I usually use the guest bed as a staging area - so that may have to wait until Sunday or they'll have to sleep on the floor. :rolleyes1

We always do 1 carryon each with what we 'need' - usually a backpack so it's not too bulky and easy to carry. Then we check the rest. We're tired of hassling with the liquids at security so we just check that stuff now.
