JUN 06 2007 Magic - 10 day Mediterranean ( READ INFO POST # 1 )

....I quite like the idea of grizzbuzz .... my kids are excited at the thought of coming back to the cabin and finding gifts ..... it will spread the excitement through the week instead of one big hit ........I do get the logistics though of the meet and greet as aqua said.

We leave home 2 weeks today :sad2: we will definately be the last to leave ..on a positive note we will have the least jet lag  so I will be the only one doing the early morning deck walk !!!

Say the word grizzbuzz if you want cabin numbers .

:cool1:

that's a good idea I could bring puertorican candies, they are good!

Last cruise we got gifts at the Pirates night!

Are the gifts for the Kids? This is new to me but from what the other threads were saying I was thinking they were for the adults???? Help....

OK - I got it now. I'm too new to this to send a PM.

Will you please add us to your list? And can I get a copy of the list to see who else has kids around 5yrs? Thanks!

Russell - DH, 42
Alysoun - DW, 35
Lauren - DD, 5

Just wanted to join in the discussion. We too will be going on the June 6th Magic sailing. My husband and I are in our late 30's and we have 2 sons - Colin age 5 and Cameron age 10. I think I've seen some other 5-year-olds listed on this thread. Any other 10-year-old boys?

We just finalized shore excursions and hired drivers in three ports. Looking forward to the upcoming sailing!

I have just done a gift per cabin - not particularly for kids . My excited kids are almost grown up but still like the idea of coming back and finding stuff ..
..... maybe I will never even get to see it if they get there first :rotfl:

Hi CK where are you from ?

Hi CK where are you from ?

We live in the Washington D.C. area. Originally from upstate New York, Saratoga Springs area actually which I believe someone mentioned earlier on this thread.

Is there a get together for people with kids? Or just the one on Thursday at 1 for adults?

And, I'm too am confused about the lime-green ears -- are they pre-made and for sale at Home Depot?

Thanks so much for posting the 'to do' list. Off ot call the credit card companies now.

I think the idea of thursday was to connect and that way if we want to plan another meeting we could.... the micky ears are a lime green paint chip that home depot has in their paint dept because they have a line of "disney paint"

.....ok guys ..... we go to Spain Italy and France and I know some of you have been to these places before so I thought we could swop tips ..... the kind of tips you wouldn't find in guidebooks !

My tip is for france ...... use the restrooms on the boat before you get off :rotfl: carry tissues always - don't make me explain  and if you need to 'go' whilst out head for a nice hotel NOT in a supermarket , NEVER public toilets ....... I know you Americans are all used to wonderful restroom facilities in the USA but believe me the rest of the world is a bit of a let down in that department.

Ok that's my tip .... anyone else ?????

OK...I'll make the list :artist:

Just PM with your cabin number if you want to do the gift exchange. One gift per cabin, small gift for adults or kids (eg, postcards from where you are from). I'll keep you posted on how many people sign up, so you know how many gifts to bring and will hand out list with cabin numbers at Thursday meet and greet.

I tried to pm you but it wont let me:confused: think you need to click on something at the bottom to say you want to receive pm's .

Welcome to the Dis Boards.

Cruisincrazy - Thanks for the advise on carrying tissue in France....especially helpful with the small kids! :)

I have a question about tipping in restaurants throughout Europe. I've heard it's not like the US in that you shouldn't leave much, if any, tip after having a meal. True?

Thanks! :flower3:

This may be a silly question....

How do we leave gifts in each cabin? Do they have to be delivered by Disney crew members or is there a way to secure them to the doors so they are not taken?

Thanks! :hourglass 6 more days!

Regarding tips...if you are in Europe (I will assume onboard is different)...it is not uncommon for Europeans to leave a very small tip when eating out. They do not tip in the same fashion that we do. My most recent trip was to Germany in December to visit a very close friend. She generally directed me to leave whatever change came back to me from paying the bill. However, be careful with the word change...because many euros are actually in coin format. Change...to her was anything under a Euro.

As for the gifts, I was thinking about that a little while ago. It may be better to exchange them at the 1 o'clock meet -n- greet. However, that may make some people feel a little awkward.

we have a 6 yr old boy traveling with us, and two 11 yr olds, a boy and a girl!!! Not 5 and 10 but close enough!!!! In looking at all the people going, i am very surprised at the number of teens, and preteens!!! Should be fun.

Oh, and funny bunny, Evelyn has backed out and will not be going now...:sad2:

But hey, with all the people joining us on our excursions, i think we are now at 30 - 34. Should be lots of fun!!!
:) :yay:  :) :cool1:

Got our DVD yesterday.... blah. Was expecting more and I my expectations were low to begin with.

9 1/2 days, 235 hours, 80 hours of sleep, 45 more hours of work, 12 more hours at the gym, and 22.5 miles left of running til June 2nd flight to Rome!!!!

Sharolyn: That sucks about Evelyn. I hope everything with the number of adults/kids in the staterooms is worked out and you're not bearing the financial burden of her leaving!

Just leave your gift on or around cabin door (door knob, base of the door, under door). I think that should work. I can assign people different days to distribute gifts.

PM me to get added to the list. :artist:

I tried to pm about the gifts, i can not do it!!! i am interested though. let me know you added me...

On evelyn, i know....they charged me $100 to cancel....ugh, on top of the remaining cabin balance...and her airfare...ugh.....pretty frustrating. hoping to see her pay, but not holding my breath!!! and this is what friends are for.....

I have to let it go, i have to let it go, i have to let it go.....I refuse to let this mess with our fun time on the cruise!!! :) :) :) :) :) :) :)

Thanking God for you and Hayley!! She is my stress reliever, can not imagine living with her, wait, we did that....thinking about some of her comments during boot camp, omg, :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Do i have a tray??? Oh yes, i have a TREY!!

Can not wait to be onboard!!!

Hi - regarding the tipping - yes europeans leave less but we aim for it to be around 10% of the bill but if the service is bad do not leave anything . The difference is because european servers are paid a higher hourly rate than those in the US I think - they do not use tips to make up wages - they are seen as extras (also please call them waiters/waitresses if you come to the UK - servers is a derogatory term here  !)

Hope that helps :)

Trying hard to think of handy hints ....... you may have to pay for the use of restrooms - keep a euro coin handy .

Anyone else have hints ?????
