So I have an upcoming cruise in less than a month. I have read alot about people booking another cruise while onboard. I am thinking of doing this.
But do they need to know the names of the people going?
Or can you just say 2 adults 2 kids? I am looking to book the fantasy.
What stateroom would you recommend? Family of 4 with kids age 6/8.5.
I would like the boys to each have their own bed.
Would like a verdanda, any benefit to going with OV?
Can you request dining time?
Would need early. For my upcoming cruise we are late, but that works with who I am going with.
I have only really researched the Dream, so any other tips about Fantasy would be great!

Thanks All!

Is a couch that turns into a bed plus a bunk bed that comes out of the ceiling ok for the kids? If so I'm pretty sure any verandah room will work for you.

You do not need the names yet unless you are booking a specific cruise. If still undecided which cruise you want to try, just book a placeholder and you have 2 years to use it.

when booking the placeholder cruise, just be sure to have them include the right number of people. Heck always say 4, it's easier to DROP people later than add them later.

We now always book for 4 people even though it will probably only be the two of us. This way when we make the "real" ressie, we lock in the pricing from that time and don't have to worry about increased prices later. And with your situation, you are locking in Kids Clubs spaces which sometimes do fill up (have seen many instances of being able to add an adult to the room, but not the 8yo). Yes you will pay a little more in deposit now, but that should not be a big deal.

Not to take over from the OP of this thread, but I am sailing soon and also thinking of booking the next cruise onboard. I'm planning on a placeholder since we're thinking further out than the available schedule. Is the placeholder deposit per person or per stateroom? And it is fully refundable even if you drop people from the room (like your example of going from 4 to 2)?

Also, I know the expiration is two years from the date you put the deposit down. But does that apply to the sailing date or the full length of the cruise? For instance, if I pay a placeholder on April 10, 2016, will I be able to take a 7 night cruise with sailing date of April 7, 2018? Or I can only take a cruise that is finished by April 9, 2018?

When I booked my next cruise on board, the cast member had me do the exact opposite. She had me book the cruise for two people even though we told her we knew it would be for five. There was no reason to pay the additional deposit money.......

It worked! We are set to go this June on the Fantasy on our fourth cruise; the first one booked while on board.

Aren't the OBB placeholder deposits all just $200 per stateroom across the board nowadays (except for concierge)?

I believe it just increased to $250.

The problem with doing your scenario is they could run out of space in your muster station if you try to add people at a later date.

Also if you book a room for 2 people today at x price and try to add 2 more in six months, the additional people will be paying the price at that time, not the price you would have paid if you would have booked all 4 people today.

The cruise would have to start on 4/9/18 at the latest.
