Jumping, Dancing & Jamming Our Way Through Walt Disney World! I'm With the Band Now!

:thumbsup2 Love all your pics! Looking at them brought a smile to my face! As you can tell by our signature, CBR is our ALL time favorite too! We can't WAIT to go back in May! This is our 9th CBR trip, and we're just as excited as the first time. I keep expecting my 25ds and 24dd to say "We're too old to come with y'all".., but it hasn't happened yet!:rotfl: We love everything CBR and can't wait!:banana::banana:

Great pictures of the CBR, Lisa. Love the beach area. Andy and his "ex" were in Barbados and exclusively used the quiet pool there.

Your CBR pics are killing me! Just when I think I am sure I want to try POR, then you post all these and now I want to go back to CBR! It is just so beautiful there! I am kicking myself for not making it around the promenade now. There was so much to see that I missed. Loving all your pictures!

I wish on was laying on one of those lounge chairs on the beach right now.

What a nice walk around you gave us, enough to make me think of a soemday stay!

It was a highlight for us too. Plus it gave us a "lift" knowing we were leaving...really leaving--like going home the next day!!

I bet it makes it more fun trying to get the good shots by taking the bad ones!!

Love the CBR pictures! That is great! Our next trip I plan to schedule one day with nothing going on so we can enjoy the resort. We did that in 2010 and it was awesome!

Yeah, it's always nice when something neat happens right before you head for home. It does lift your spirits.

It took me a while before I could enjoy our "down days" but, over the last couple of years, I have started to like them more and more. Having said that, I also must admit that I schedule something for those evenings so I have something to look forward to.

Love the CBR pictures! Some of them look familiar, as I walked the same path (or part of it at least!) last week :goodvibes

Oh yah! I'm so happy that you got to go visit the CBR! I knew it was on your list but I didn't know if you got to go there or not.

Loving the Caribbean Beach pictures. This place is SO pretty.

Looking at the pictures make me wish I were there now!

Love the pictures of CBR! They made me very glad that we decided to try the resort out, and I booked last week! Can't wait to spend the week there, you're TR helped a lot in the decision. Thanks!

I really think you'll enjoy the CBR. It's such a beautiful resort and we haven't had a bad experience yet.

Great pictures of CBR! It really is a beautiful resort to just wander around in!

It really is.

Great pictures! If anyone has any doubts about the beauty of CBR, you have set the record straight! :thumbsup2 It's just lovely.

The pictures don't do the resort justice. Everything is so bright and colorful.

beautiful resort one day I'm going to stay here. :)

Definitely put it on your list of resorts to try.

Ok, seriously, you got like 2000 pictures of CBR and you are beating yourself up for forgetting to take pictures of ONE area? I think what we should really say/do is : :worship:

I can't believe I didn't take more time to explore CBR when I was there 3 years ago. Then again, it was a super short and super packed 6 days "first" trip to Disney, so I guess that explains it.

I want to walk on that wooden path so much. For some reason I'm obsessed with wooden path and I think they make any walking better and look prettier. :cloud9:

I guess when you put it that way, I didn't do so bad in getting pictures of everything. :rotfl:

The CBR is definitely a resort that you need to take a bit of time to walk around and see. There are all sorts of nooks here and there.

The wooden pathway is pretty and it goes through a wooded area that's really nothing to look at but it's a break for the same old-same old.

It looks like you love the CBR just as much as we do! It was our first onsite resort and we haven't made ourselves stay anywhere else. When in May will you be at the CBR? Our dates are May 27th to June 2nd. I don't think my kids will ever say they are too old to go to Disney so I'm sure your's won't either.

Great pictures of the CBR, Lisa. Love the beach area. Andy and his "ex" were in Barbados and exclusively used the quiet pool there.

I had forgotten that Andy had stayed in Barbados. I walked by their pool several times and it was almost always empty.

Great resort pics! I love the CBR. We stayed there a couple times years ago, always in Martinique.

Those were great pictures of the resort. I like taking pictures around the resorts I stay at too, sometimes I don't take as many as I would like or don't take the time to explore it havaly. If you like you can see some of mine at the flowing links.

We're coming right before you..the 19th - 26th. And much like you, CBR was our first onsite stay, and we've loved it ever since. We've toured almost all of the others, but I guess the memories and nostalgia always bring us back to CBR. So much so, that it's hard for me to want to go if I can't stay there!
And I'm beginning to wonder on my kiddos. We celebrated my 50th onboard the Magic in October and of course they came. Anything Disney, and they make it a point to come or we're gonna hear about it!:goodvibes

See that middle hammock? That is the exact spot where my DH proposed on my first trip to Disney!

Love it!

I love your photo tours!!! CBR looks like an absolutely beautiful resort. Lots to enjoy. It seems like you don't need to go very far to get to a pool. And nothing looked very crowded!

I was SOOOOO far behind!! I love all of your CBR photos. I can't wait to hear what you thought of Cirque!!

Good to see you posting! I am super excited to see your Vegas pictures.

It is a pretty resort which makes the walk around the promenade so nice. The main pool was pretty close to our building...maybe 5 minutes, and there are quiet pools in each village so you're always close to one.

I love the CBR tour!!!!

Thanks! I remember your photo tour of the CBR and am wondering if they finished up the landscaping since you went.

Awwww that's so sweet!

We'll just miss each other. We've seen quite a few of the Disney resorts but keep making reservations to go back to the CBR. Like you said, I think it's the memories we have made there that keep us going back time and again.

Woo hoo for celebrating your 50th! I've already told Lacey that I am taking my grandkids to Disney World so she better start saving so that she and Jesse can go or I'll just take the grandkids without 'em. :lmao:

I need to go check out your pictures...especially the ones of POR since we have a one night stay there.

Great resort pics! I love the CBR. We stayed there a couple times years ago, always in Martinique.

We've always stayed in either Martinique or Jamaica but I've put in a request for Aruba just to change things up.

I had worked up a hunger by the time I had made it to back to the room and the others were ready for something too so we set off for Old Port Royale. I think that I mentioned it before but I think it's worth mentioning again that our room in Jamaica was just a 5 minute walk to Old Port Royale.

We had a dinner reservation at The Turf Club for that evening so none of us wanted to eat anything heavy. I first went to the Grab N Go section to see if there was anything that I wanted from there. I tried to take pictures of everything but some were really blurry.

Nothing really caught my attention so I moved on to the other stations as did the rest of the gang. We met back up near the registers and used our dining credits for our meals.

There weren't a lot of people in the food court so there were quite a few tables open. John, Mama and I all ordered the soup and breadsticks and Lacey and Hunter ordered cheese pizzas with side salads.

100_2085.jpg

The soups were absolutely delicious! Mama and John had the vegetable and I had some sort of tomato soup. The breadsticks came with marinara sauce.

Looking at the above pictures, I see that we had a Mickey rice crispy treat, a cheesecake and a cupcake for desserts. Lacey and Mama had fruit.

I also took a few pictures of the food court:

I'm so glad you posted on my TR today because I came over here to see if YOU had posted and .....WOW.......I am blown away by your gorgeous pictures of CBR. It's been years since I have stayed there and I loved the resort and your pictures make me want to go back SO badly. Simply gorgeous. I love all the quiet pools and all the great scenery! Beautiful!

Once we had cleaned off our table, we walked into the store portion of Old Port Royale just to browse and also so that I could take pictures of what type of sundries were for sale in the gift shop. Several people on the CBR thread had asked what was available and I had promised to take pictures. Wanna know what they have?

While in the store, I bought a bright pink Walt Disney World t-shirt. I had been looking at the shirts everywhere we went and couldn't decide what color I wanted. I kept saying that I thought I wanted an orange one and that's what I had in my hand but, at the last minute, I changed my mind and bought the pink one. Everybody just shook their head at me but it's a girl's perogative to change her mind. ;)

Almost every trip, we rent a surrey bike and take a spin or two around the resort but, for some reason, the first time Mama went with us, we didn't get the opportunity to do so. I think I'm remembering that it was raining that day or something. Anyway, we didn't get to rent one. This year, we were determined that she was going to ride that surrey bike. (Every time we'd come home from our WDW vacations, she'd ask about the surrey bike ride.) Before going out to the marina, I made a pit stop in the bathrooms at Old Port Royale and, of course, typical me, I took pictures.

100_2105.jpg

Just outside the bathrrooms are public payphones and a calling card vending machine:

100_2103.jpg

100_2102.jpg

Instead of walking out the same way we came in, we walked out the doors nearest the bathrooms and walked by the kids' water play area (didn't remember to take pictures though). These beautiful plants were just outside Old Port Royale:

More pictures outside OPR:

100_2107.jpg

At the time, they were redoing the OPR bus stop and had signs pointing the guests toward a temporary bus stop which was a large tent with benches inside.

The walk to the marina was short but Mama and I waited under one of the umbrella tables while John, Hunter and Lacey went to get the bikes. We were picking on Hunter and telling him that he'd have to ride in the basket in the front of the surrey bike since there were five of us. He, of course, knew that we were just kidding and got a bike of his own.

Our Rolls Royce a/k/a surrey bike pulled right up to us and Mama and I got on. We knew that Mama wouldn't be able to help out much with the pedalling so John told her not to even bother and just sit back and relax while the rest of us did the work. Holy crap! I had forgotten how hard it was to get those things going. I always prep myself of our Disney trips by walking on the treadmill at least four or five days a week but had slacked off prior to this trip and I could definitely tell it. My thighs were burning like the dickens within the first five minutes. Thankfully, it got easier and we enjoyed the ride and the views.

Hunter was behind us on a bike for a while:

100_2112.jpg

And then he passed us up:

100_2115.jpg

Hey! Is that Pee Wee Herman in front of us? Remember the tricks that Pee Wee Herman did in Pee Wee's Big Adventure?

100_2116.jpg

Notice the similarity?

images

Mama was hollering at Hunter and telling him to behave or he'd have a bike wreck! We, on the other hand, were laughing our butts off at him.

Hum, I guess I don't have pictures of our bicycle tour around the resort. Maybe I didn't upload them? :confused3

For those of you who read my previous trip reports, you'll recall that we've had a few of our own Big Adventures while riding bikes at the CBR. Wait, let me start this out with a couple of pictures. See this hill?

100_1973-1.jpg

Yeah, it doesn't look that steep but try pedaling a surrey bike up it with four people on it. See the trail that I am looking down on in this picture?

100_1976-1.jpg

There's a hill on the other of that trail and it's long and steep.

During one of our trips, John swore to Lacey (who was driving the surrey bike) that he would stop pedaling when we got to the top of that hill and that we'd coast gently down and let the wind flow through our hair. Yeah right! John has never been known to keep his word when he could use that moment to scare the bejebbers out of one of his loved ones. We got to the top of that hill, John started pedaling as fast as he could and Lacey was yelling "daddy stop" the entire way. I bet we hit 50 mph going down that hill. I tried to stop the pedals and my flip flop hit the pedal, flew over my shoulder and right out the back of the surrey bike. We were a sight for sure! :lmao:

Well, our May, 2011 trip rolls around (we were literally rolling around in a surrey bike) and Lacey made John promise that he wouldn't pedal going down the hill. John promised and this time he was serious. I think that he was trying to be on his best behavior since Mama was there.

We got to the top of the hill, we were coasting along at a nice speed but not too fast when a Mama and her child stepped out onto the path. Lacey was ringing the bell over and over and over and the Mama looked over her shoulder as if we weren't even headed her way. John and I were trying to stop the pedals and Lacey was pulling on the hand brake. Mama was gasping and chanting "Oh no! oh no! on no! Move lady! Move!" I was seriously about to panic because I could just see us: 1) smooshing the lady and her daughter right there on the CBR pavement; 2) finally putting on the surrey bike brakes and all of us tumbling face first into the CBR pavement; or 3) all of us having a heart attack and tumbling face first right into the CBR pavement. Finally, we got the surrey bike slowed down and pedaled past the lady and her daughter. If I thought I could have gotten away with it, I would have bopped that woman right then and there for nearly making my Mama have a stroke.

**continued in next post

Thankfully, after our near death experience, our ride from there on out went smoothly. We made another round around the resort and our half hour was up. Mama, Lacey and I got off at OPR and Hunter asked if he could make a few more laps since his bicycle had been rented for an hour. We told him sure and left John to turn in the surrey bike. The entire time Hunter was riding, Mama was keeping an eagle eye out for him and would tell us every time she saw him on the other side of the lake.

Look! There he is now!

100_2119.jpg

I think Hunter made 15 laps in all before we told him that he needed to turn the bike in if we wanted to swim a little while before getting ready for our dinner ADR and Cirque du Soliel. He and his dad turned in the bike and Lacey and Hunter went to change into our swimming suits. The Jamaica pool had quite a few people in it so they went to the Aruba pool while John, Mama and I relaxed a little while.

**Up next: The Turf Club and Cirque du Soliel

I love the CBR food court! The theming there is just gorgeous!

Hunter's Pee Wee antics are too funny! Your surrey bike trip sounds really nice...except for when you were afraid of squishing that woman into the pavement! It's amazing how people truly do not pay attention to their surroundings! :sad2:

The pictures of CBR are great! I almost rented a surrey while I was looking around, but I was pretty tired and decided against it. Maybe next time though! I'm glad you guys were able to avoid hitting that woman and her child. The woman may have deserved it for being dense, but the kid wasn't at faullt :rotfl2:

I wish I were an accomplished photographer such as you so that my pictures would show the true beauty of the resort. It really is much prettier than my pictures show.

I like the theming of the food court and the layout as well. It's so easy to walk from one station to the next and still keep up with the rest of the family.

Hunter was doing all sorts of tricks but I only caught him on camera twice. That boy is crazy!

I couldn't believe the lady actually looked at us and didn't move, step aside or anything.

I bet the surrey bikes would be hard to pedal all by yourself.

The lady was almost smashed as flat as a pancake. She looked at us and then turned around like we weren't even coming her way.
