Jumping, Dancing & Jamming Our Way Through Walt Disney World! I'm With the Band Now!

Hi Lisa.. I know it has been a while..But You popped in my head today so I wanted to stop by and catch up and say hey!!

Hello all! Sorry I haven't been around in a few days. My boss has finally tied the knot and has been out of my hair since Thursday afternoon. Those last couple of days before the wedding, he was looking like the Tasmanian Devil.....whirling this way and the zipping that way and the spinning here and running there. It was chaos around here. :crazy2:

The wedding was in New Orleans in the Supreme Court Courthouse where one of our friends is a Justice. The lunch reception was at one of the fancy smancy hotels there in New Olreans. After the reception, he and his bride went to the Sade concert and then on to an exclusive cocktail party with Sade in attendance. I am sure they were on cloud nine. :cloud9:

Until........and you know every one of my stories has an until, his wife's car broke down in the middle of the Interstate. They had it towed to a local dealership and it wasn't fixed until today. At least, they were able to spend some extra time in New Orleans.

I am kind of disappointed that we weren't able to go but I just couldn't justify spending the extra money when we have wedding expenses of our own. We were there in spirit though as we had the wine something-or-other (don't have a clue what the wine guy's title is 'cause we aren't wine drinkers) present a special bottle of sparkling wine to the bride and groom during their reception. I hope that the presentation was special because, for what I had to pay for it, the man should have come into the room jumping, dancing and singing CONGRATULATIONS FROM THE MCBRIDE FAMILY at the top of his lungs. That crap was super expensive! I could have stayed in New Orleans for a couple of nights for what that darn bottle of wine and the presentation cost me.

Speaking of Lacey's wedding.....the invitations have been mailed out so there ain't no turning back now. Not that they would. I was just being funny.

My sisters and aunt hosted a bridal shower on Saturday and they received so many great gifts. They got $100 in Bed, Bath & Beyond gift cards, $100 in Target gift cards, a $50 prepaid Visa and $75.00 in cash. In addition to the money, they also got 19 towels, 16 hand towels, 40 wash clothes, lots of kitchen towels, three iron skillets, mixing bowls, a tea maker, sheets, a comforter and lots of other goodies. (Yes, we counted the towels and washclothes because we were amazed at how many they received.) They were truly blessed! :littleangel: It's such a blessing to have such a wonderful and giving family. I love them all!

I'm hoping that I can post replies to everybody's comments some time today and maybe even post an installment. First, I have to get quite a few things off my desk. I'm playing catch-up on all the stuff that I put to the side in order to get the critical deadlines out before my boss' wedding. If I don't get back here today, I pinky promise that I will be here tomorrow.

Wow, Lacey and Jesse are set on towels for years! :rotfl2: Glad to hear the shower went off well and they got lots of great stuff and good time with family.

Lacey & Jesse got a lot of great stuff at the shower!
That was so thoughtful of you to send your boss a special bottle of wine. Too bad the car broke down, but how awesome is it that they hung out with Sade!!!
I'm glad you're back. :)

Hi all! Just wanted to pass on a humorous thread over on the Theme Park board. Very entertaining!! http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2763668

Lisa, hope everything is ok, haven't heard from you in a while!

The thread is too funny! I love it when there are funny threads as there seems to be quite a bit of fussing around the Disboards lately.

Lisa where are you ??????

I'm here! Hoping to get something posted for ya'll soon.

Hi Lisa.. I know it has been a while..But You popped in my head today so I wanted to stop by and catch up and say hey!!

Oh my gosh! I am soooooo glad to have you back on the Disboards. How's my little princess doing? Well, she's not a little princess anymore but still a princess.

Hi Lisa!:goodvibes

Trying to play catch up again. I thought that I would have more time to DIS now that summer is here but those boys of mine have been keeping me busy lately.:rolleyes1

Anyway, I'm loving all the updates! I can't believe that the hotel gave away your room especially since you had called them to tell them you were on your way. Glad they made up for it...and gave you a deal.:goodvibes

That was a really great letter that you wrote. Like you, I was very surprised at the 2012 prices. We really wanted to go longer next year but with the rising costs we may have to cut back on the number of days we had planned to spend there. :sad2:

Love the pictures of Lacey and Jesse especially the ones in the fountain! They look so happy!:thumbsup2

I totally understand being too busy to Dis as much as we want. The Summer is flying by....where did the time go?

I'm seriously looking at some of the things that the offsite attractions have to offer. There's some good deals out there. I really really hate that we may cut our Disney days short but that may be what we have to do.

Thanks for the compliment on the pictures. I loved them all.

How the heck did I miss the pictures of Jesse and Lacey. I absolutely love them. The water ones are the best as you said...they truly show your lovely daughter's personality!

Thanks Kathy! I liked the water ones best too.

I have been MIA for a while...catching up on your trip...LOVE the fountain pictures of the happy couple! I love Fudruckers......there is one close to me...it is so YUMMY!! Can't wait to read more of your trip report!

Hey there! Ya'll having a good Summer? There's a Fudruckers near you? Where? We may have to go there next time we are in Shreveport.

Those fountain pictures are AWESOME! Great idea! Lacey looks great wet, I looked like a wet rat!
I am also considering going to Universal next time around. And staying onsite there. So many choices and other things to do, and If Disney isn't offering something great, I guess I should try something new till they do.

I'd look like a drowned rat too. My hair gets all stringy and then wavy and there's no way I'd want anybody to see what I looked like wet. :rotfl:

I'm keeping my fingers crossed that Disney continues to offer deals during our travel period. If not, I may have to look at other things to see and do.

I got way behind again I'm sorry to hear about your car troubles and hotel troubles but at least it all worked out.

I think you worded your letter perfectly. We have been going every year for awhile now. I priced our trip for next June 2nd for 9 nights. It was going to be our longest trip so far. Well the price was insane and that was for a value. I had to take off 1 night and 1 park day and the price is still insane. We already decided instead of every year we will go every one 1/2 to 2 years. I only want to stay onsite I just love it. But now you have me thinking I might be better off staying offsite. I can't wait to hear if you hear anything back.

I also love the fountain pictures!

Aren't the 2012 prices outrageous! I couldn't believe how much more it was going to cost us especially when we will only have 3 people as opposed to the 4 we had this year.

Hi Lisa! Great letter to Disney!! I really hope they listen to all us Disney goers!!! I am REALLY trying to go next year in October so I'm hoping for some sort of Discount!! (Of course I just got a pin in the mail for this October!) I haven't been since 2008 & that is so unlike me! I miss my home!!!

Great pictures of Jesse and Lacey! Of course, the fountain pics are the best!!! Best of Luck to them on their future together!!!

I truly think that everybody should write to Disney and let them know their thoughts. Even if we get nothing more than a "thank you very much" reply at least we can feel better knowing that Disney has a stack of complaining emails in their inbox.

Lacey's photos are wonderful! I agree with you, the fountian ones do speak the "loudest"! They look very happy. I can't remember, how long until the wedding?

The wedding is August 20th and we are steadily checking things off our list of "things to do". Thank goodness 'cause I'm running out of money. :lmao:

I am glad you survived the trip, by the hardest! Wow, that was an endurance contest! But how nice to see the apartment. That is always so important to me, so I can "picture" my kids and other family when I think about them. I don't like thinking of them in limbo!

I always loved Fuddruckers. We have had two different ones in Baton Rouge, but both closed down. Their fixins bar is the best, right up there with Pecos Bill's! I never understood why they didn't have enough business to stay open here. The closest thing to it now is Cheeburger Cheeburger, which doesn't have a fixins bar but you order anything you want ON your burger, including some unconventional stuff!

I love ALL the pictures, and the fountain ones are adorable! You have a busy month ahead of you. Hope everything goes perfectly and a good time is had by all!!

I feel much better knowing that the apartment is in a nice part of town, quiet and secure. I also like being able to visual where they are and where they may be when I call them.

I cannot believe that hotel gave your room away! Shame on them....but yay for you for getting a good deal out of it! :thumbsup2

Hunter is cracking me up in the Fuddrucker's hat...so silly! :rotfl:

As it looks more and more like our surprise cruise in November is not going to happen, I was hoping to be able to plan a Disney trip for next spring. Now I am really concerned that even that may not happen. I get that the economy is bad and businesses have to compensate, but if vacations are not affordable, people will simply not go rather than pay more. I, like you, am a real cheerleader for staying onsite and enjoying all that WDW has to offer....so sad that doing so may not be a possibility. Good for you for putting a voice to your concerns. :)

Ahh....at 90+ degrees at almost 10:00pm, those fountain pictures look fabulous! We are just not used to this kind of heat here. :sad2: Lacey and Jesse look so happy....congratulations to them!

If I hadn't been so tired, I may have pitched a little fit, complete with food stomping, right there in the lobby. Thankfully, John handled it like a pro AND got us a free night and free room.

I hate that all of us are considering cutting back on our Disney days, staying offsite or, worse, not going to Disney at all. We have been really lucky in that we both still have jobs. (As my boss always says, as long as people keep getting married, the divorce attorneys and their staff have job security. Sad to think that way but it's true.) That doesn't, however, mean that we have tons of extra money sitting around.

I loved the fountain pictures too. I think when they were taking those pictures, it was in the 100s here and I was envious of them splashing around while we were splashing in our own sweat. Ewww!

OK Lisa, it's unanimous - the fountain pictures ARE the best!! :thumbsup2 I am with you, and so glad Lacey had the idea to jump in there and that Jesse was a good sport and jumped in there too. I love the fact she just went with the flow, and isn't one of the types that's afraid to get her hair mussed. ;) The pictures surely reflect their deep love for each other. :lovestruc

I am proud of you for writing your letter to Disney. I hope they don't give up on us loyal fans and they do put out some decent discounts for next year. I don't think Walt would like that they're pricing themselves out of a lot of families pocketbooks. I am going to keep wishing on that star and not give up hope yet. :tink: We stayed at CBR in Feb for a long weekend and bought APs for that trip, knowing we'd be going back for DD's fall break in Oct. We had a bounceback offer in our room and were able to get POR at 35% off for that trip. We later decided to take a summer trip and make use of our APs so we got about 20-25% off POFQ for our upcoming trip next week. I'm afraid we might not be able to go next year the way the discounts seem slim to non-existent and I am not lucky to get PINS either, so I'm going to appreciate and savor each upcoming trip (not that I won't anyway).

OK sorry for rambling :mic: and back to your report. You do really have to be careful when you say Fuddruckers!! We used to have one near our house but it closed and I forgot how good it was until I saw your pics. Love how your family can take the simplest of things - like a Fuddruckers hat and get laughs out of it! Looking forward to hearing and seeing more pics of your fun times! :)
Beth

I loved loved loved the fountain pictures. They show Lacey's free spirit to it's fullest.

I wish we could have taken advantage of the bounceback offer that was in our room. But, it only went through the end of 2011 and didn't do us any good. Hopefully, Disney will see that there's no way that they can charge rack rate for their resorts. I, for one, am not sure I'm willing to shell out that kind of money.

Glad to hear that the shower was a success! :thumbsup2

She was so excited when she called Jesse and told him what they received. I'm so thankful we have such a loving family.

Wow, Lacey and Jesse are set on towels for years! :rotfl2: Glad to hear the shower went off well and they got lots of great stuff and good time with family.

I know! They already had about ten that they received as gifts from his family's shower and from John and I. She still has three more shower to go so if she gets more towels, those will definitely be going back to the store.

Lacey & Jesse got a lot of great stuff at the shower!
That was so thoughtful of you to send your boss a special bottle of wine. Too bad the car broke down, but how awesome is it that they hung out with Sade!!!
I'm glad you're back. :)

They did get a lot of great stuff. We had it all spread out in the living room and took pictures so Jesse could see it all.

I had no idea what in the world to get my boss as a wedding gift. I'm not a wine drinker so I had no clue what type to send him. Thankfully, the restaurant offered some suggestions.

He was so excited to go to the cocktail party where Sade was going to be. He is so googly eyed over her.

Before my nephew totally disowns his Aunt Lisa, I need to ask a favor of all of you. My nephew, Bailey, is a Boy Scout and his wooden mini-race car has been chosen as an entry into the Extreme Car Design Contest. Here's a little info about the contest:

E2Xtreme™ is an exciting, new racing event using custom-designed cars powered by CO2 fuel canisters. It is a merit-badge-driven activity intended exclusively for Boy Scouts. Activity may be used toward requirements for Model Design & Building, Woodworking, and Wood Carving merit badges. Scouts are encouraged to use their imaginations to engineer the complete production process for their car. Starting with just a block of wood, they then sketch an idea, lay out their design, construct the car, test performance, modify, and add the finishing details.

Last month, 100 randomly selected registrants received an E2Xtreme™ Car Kit. Their challenge was to design the COOLEST-looking E2Xtreme Challenge Racing™ Car for a chance to win a $100 ScoutStuff Gift Card, one E2Xtreme™ Car Launch Kit and an E2Xtreme Challenge Racing™ Car Design Contest First-Place trophy, not to mention some really cool bragging rights!

Designs have been submitted and we have moved on to the voting portion of the contest. The person who receives the most votes, along with the winning car design, will be featured on our website for the E2Xtreme™ Challenge Racing™ product launch this fall!

If you have a minute, please register on the site and vote for his race car. Here's the link. http://scoutstuff.upickem.net/engine/Details.aspx?p=V&c=35719&s=9745009&i=1#SD

If the link doesn't work, wait a minute and try again. Please remember to not only leave a comment but to also vote for his car. It's the one that's designed to look like a pencil.

I'm hoping a lot of folks vote so I can be named the official "Best Aunt in the Whole Wide World". Oh and he can win that $100 gift card, kit and trophy.

What great pictures!!
Lacey is so pretty.....even soaking wet!!!

They look so happy.....oh, to be young and in love again :rotfl2:

I think the fountain pictures are the best!

Thank you so much. I can totally see John and I jumping in the fountains too. Spontenaity runs in our family and I'm so happy that Lacey persuaded Jesse to take those pictures.

Lacey looks JUST like you in that last photo! I LOVE the fountain photos. I was listening to a song called "tightrope" and it was at the Chorus and it seems to be the perfect song for those photos! They came out so well. So happy for them!

I thought she looked like me in the last picture too. She usually resembles her daddy but that one looked like me.

First of all, I love what you wrote on the board! I am staying onsite at POP in February but I doubt I will stay onsite again after this. My hotel that I stayed at in November was 1/3 the price what I am paying at POP, was new (only open 8 months at that time) and the room was about the same as what I am getting at POP. And it is only 7 miles from WDW. But I really wanted to stay onsite again to see how worth it is for me. Unless I win the lottery soon or find myself a rich man (:rotfl2:) I probably will have to stay offsite after the next trip. I will be writing Disney later myself about prices too.

I love the pictures of Lacey and Jesse! I can't believe they got over 100 taken. The fountain ones definitely show personality and are adorable.

7 miles is not that far from WDW so I can see why you stayed offsite. The prices to stay onsite are getting so high. I am always saying "when I win the lottery" but I never buy a lottery ticket. How the heck do I think I'll win if I don't buy a ticket? :rotfl2:

Did you end up writing to Disney? I sure hope so. I think they need to hear from us all.

Lovely pictures, and I agree with you, the ones in the fountain are the best!

I thought about you when she showed me those pictures. They reminded me of the pictures you took in the water in your wedding dress.

I love those photos of Lacey & Jesse in the fountain! They are awesome.
I have to say that I was thinking of not going to Disney next year. I like your idea about all of us writing letters. The thing that ticks me off is that I can NEVER get an annual pass discount anymore. I have tried on every trip, but they always "run out of rooms available at the discounted price". :sad2:

It seems to be getting harder and harder for annual pass holders to get any sort of discount or if they do, they are waiting until the last minute to release the offers. At least that's what I've been reading on the boards.

I think you should write a letter to Disney even if you get nothing more than a friendly "thank you". At least you'll know you let them know what was on your mind.

Okay...I will join in with the others and totally agree on the fountain pictures! all of them are good but the fountain ones seem very real!

I liked the "realness" of the fountain pictures too. Thank goodness, Jesse is a good sport and went right on in with her.

Those are great pics, Lisa!!!! Love them!

One of the deciding factors when we were looking at purchasing DVC was the stress of trying to find a place that we wanted to stay that had a good discount for the dates we were going. (Well, that and three trips in 12 months....:rotfl:)

We love staying in the deluxe resort, but I don't know if I'd want to pay rack rate for it. I'm so cheap that I hate to pay full price for groceries!!!

Great letter and I hope that you get a response.

I wish we had bought into DVC back in the day when we didn't have teenagers and young adult drivers, three cars, sports fees, etc.

I laughed when you said you hate to even pay full price for groceries. I do too especially with the way food prices are going up.

Great pictures! Lacey and Jesse both have beautiful smiles. Wet or Dry.

Thank you! You can tell they are totally in L-O-V-E!

The pictures are cute!!!! I love the fountain ones the best!

Me too!

Oh my Lord, I have hit the disboard hall of fame I got quoted in your trip report!

I sent my email on to Disney, it made me feel better. We will see what they offer if anything in the way of discounts.

And thanks to your tr, I am now wanting to stay at CBR next June!

Just got caught up, love all the pics and am so happy to see your mama went with you. My mom is gone now and seeing your reports with her makes me happy!

So glad Lacey's apartment is so nice and that you all got down there. Love getting other reports inside the Disney one!

The fountain pictures are awesome, just incredible!

Can't wait to read more.

Oh yeah, we love RFC too. And we used to love Fuddrucker's until they all left our area!

Okay, now off to KatMark's pre trippie, need to get caught up on her too.:goodvibes

You are too funny....Disboard Hall of Fame. Let us know if you hear anything back from Disney. It's been a week since I sent the email and haven't heard anything yet. I'm pretty sure it's going to be one of the generic responses but at least I feel better for writing it.

I am glad that Mama went with us to Disney (and Tennessee) too. It makes me happy to know that we are making memories.

The pictures are great. The fountain ones are great and what a diffrent approach to engagment pictures. :)

You know my family....we have to have a different approach to everything so why not engagment pictures too.:lmao:

Love those fountain photos!!!!! Too cute...what fun they are going to have together.

Where did you email your letter to? I would like to send them one also.

They do look like they were having a ball don't they? I loved 'em.

Here's the link to Disney's contact information. Let us know if you hear anything back from them. http://disneyworld.disney.go.com/contact/

The pictures of Lacey and Jesse are wonderful (and I especially love the fountain pictures!) :goodvibes

Thank you so much!

I adore the fountain pictures!

Me too! They look so cute!

The water fountain pics are brill!

I'm so glad that Lacey thought about splashing in the fountains because I love how the pictures turned out.

I voted for your nephew. Here's hoping he wins, as his design is fantastic! And, so you can be the Greatest Aunt Lisa ever! :rotfl:

I emailed Disney about the resort prices this past weekend. I will definitely post if/when I hear anything back.

Also, I'm starting my PTR either tonight or tomorrow, so I will post a link once that is started!

Let me know if you hear anything back from Disney.

Please do post the link when you start your PTR 'cause I'll want to read along.

That is a lot of towels:thumbsup2 We got lots too, and I set a bunch away to save for company, or when your other towels start to fade some.
Sounds like a very nice shower!

I'll go vote for your nephew, he will have to share his winnings with ya!:rotfl2:

thanks for the link to contact Disney...just wrote a rather long message asking for discounts to continue so we can continue to give them thousands $$$ each year!!

Voted for youer nephew...Boy Scouts is a great thing for kids..my son was a BS

DON'T FORGET WE ARE WAITING TO GET BACK TO YOUR TRIP REPORT.

Sounds like a wonderful shower! They will have fun picking out nice things with those gift cards!

Sounds like Lacey and Jesse racked up at the shower! :woohoo: That is wonderful for them!

I also voted for your nephew's car. I hope he wins!

Not to hijack your thread, but I need to vent to my DIS friends. We are leaving for WDW on Friday after work and I had planned to spend each night this week packing and making sure everything was ready. Monday night a few things came up and the time got away from me so Monday night ended up being a wash. Last night was filled with critter drama. I got home from work and let the dogs out. I didn't see the mama and baby deer coming up the bushes in our back yard. I don't think she was expecting to see the dogs either. I know she was trying to protect her baby, but she charged after one of our dogs and chased him into the front yard. I ran out the garage and saw the deer pouncing up and down. Luckily she wasn't pouncing on him, but I didn't know if she had already got him since he was laying still on the ground. I chased the mama off and the dog must have saw his break to get out of the situation and he ran down the street. I chased after him in bare feet (and still in my dress from work) calling his name. I finally got to him and he growled at me and tried to bite me (I know he was scared as he has never tried to bite any of us before). When he realized it was me he rolled on his back and that's when I saw that his mouth was filled with blood. I picked him up and carried him home. He seemed dazed (understandably but I couldn't tell if he was seriously injured other than the bloody mouth), I got some flip flops on and my husband called the vet (he had been on a work conference call). They said they would stay open til they got there. We got in the truck and I sat in the back with my DD (who had been crying the entire time and cried all the way to the vet) and my husband drove. DD and I were holding hands and I prayed out loud the whole way there. I didn't verbalize it but I wondered if we were going to have to cancel our trip not knowing how much the vet bill was going to be, or if the dog was seriously injured. So we get to the vet and he checks him out thoroughly and said it didn't seem there was any internal damage and that it seemed that he only got kicked in the mouth and the deer's hoof had sliced his gum (thus the blood in his mouth). So I said silent thank you prayers in the vet's office that there was no serious injury. We then went to the receptionist desk to check out and pay, but the vet said 'no charge'. I wanted to hug his neck and cry at the same time. So back in the truck we go and this time DD and I held hands and prayed thank you prayers on the way back. After all that fiasco I had to take DD to her piano lesson and then we had to go to the store to buy dog food. We ate supper around 8:30 and then I gave the poor dog a bath, took a shower myself and tried to go to sleep (which was futile because the events of the day kept replaying in my head).

I hope the rest of the week is non-eventful so I can get ready. Right about now, I could use some Disney magic. :wizard:

OK, vent over (I feel much better) and again I am sorry for hi-jacking and thank you for listening! :) As usual I am looking forward to reading more of your TR.

Wow. So glad your furry baby was ok, maybe now the rest of the week will be better.
