Looking at coming this July.

Dates I’m thinking of are either 5-10 July or 25-31 July.

I would prefer to come earlier as I’d think it might be a little cooler or just not as hot but we might have left over 4th July crowds. This period fits better in our schedule but flight prices aren’t great.

End of July, I worry it will be too hot. But flight prices are better. Tighter squeeze on our schedule. I also didn’t realise some of the 70th things don’t actually start until after the 17th so that’s a bonus.

Tbh I’m probably just over thinking it, and either date is fine. It will be what it will be.

What are your thoughts ?

I often go in July. There are people who find it too hot but I'm not one of them. To me, it's pleasant, but I'm one who tends to be cold when others are comfortable. Now if you combine hotter temps with humidity, that's a different story! Luckily, it's generally not overly humid at DLR, at least compared to a lot of other places.

It really depends on what you consider "too hot". California does not get the oppressive humidity that Florida has so I don't personally find it that bad. We've gone a bunch of times in August and actually the hottest trip we ever did was the year we went in September. Temps that trip were over 40C (around 104F).

Unfortunately predicting our weather here in So Cal is a total crapshoot! Prepare for heat but know that at least the mornings/evenings will be cooler. Afternoon is great for pool time or a nap. 😎

One of the best parts about July is the parks are open 8-10 (DCA) and 8-Midnight (DL) daily. Lots of opportunity to escape to the pool and A/C during the hottest sun of the afternoon.

For me July would be too hot but I tend to run hot/warm and dislike temps above 80. If July was the only time I could go, I still would. This year I would go late July because I wouldn't want to miss the Walk animatronic at the Opera House.

I’m going for your second set of dates

I can’t miss the opening of the Walt Disney audioanimatronic, like can’t!!!
I booked these dates before I heard that that wasn’t opening until the 17th so it works out, but if it didn’t work out, I would’ve moved my dates

I like the heat, I mostly I like not cold nights

It's too hot for me, personally. But you can really never know with weather. Once we went in early June expecting better weather and it was in the mid-high 90s all week. I think you should go with the dates that work best for you. Plus, even being there when it's sweltering you'll still have fun. We used various cooling accessories and that helped alot.

It’s not any more crowded than any other time but it is pretty hot. July through October is summertime at Disneyland and it gets pretty hot mid day waiting in the sun for attractions.

I asked a similar question a couple of weeks ago. While I haven't been to Disneyland in 20+ years, July in California is nothing compared to July in Florida. I would never go to WDW in the summer, but we're going to Disneyland. I don't like the heat, but we'll be fine. No one has really addressed your crowd questions. People told me that the crowds aren't bad in the summer. Disneyland is more of a locals park than WDW, and that it's not as busy as you'd think in the summer, especially on Saturdays when many annual passes are blocked. We are going July 9-13 and the crowds are predicted to be middle of the road, at most and one day is considered low crowds.

I haven't found Julys in CA to be unbearable like Julys in FL. It's hot, but "dry" hot, and practically no rain, so it's always sunny and clear. Also, as mentioned, far fewer locals. If you take mid-day breaks, you'll miss the hottest part of the day. Mornings and evenings are quite pleasant. I wouldn't hesitate to go back in July.

I always find this comment funny. I know SoCal might not be a humid as Florida but I find it considerably more humid than where I live in NorCal. I guess it is all what you are used to.
DL isn't far from the coast so it can get the marine layer in the mornings, but we're still talking much lower humidity than the East Coast. Plus the moisture is blowing in from the ocean, not sitting stagnantly with the ocean downwind. Humidity levels in coastal California that can seem relatively high feel nothing like similar humidity levels east of the Rockies.

Maybe you live in the valley or somewhere else far from the ocean where you don't get any of the marine layer?

You are correct I do live in a Valley but only 50 miles from coast. Not much of a marine layer either. I do understand the reasons for Anaheim having more humid conditions. Just one of those statements, that aren't 100% accurate. Like I said in my original post it is all what you are used to.
