July or August

I'm wondering if anyone has thoughts on camping in July or August. We'll be driving from NY with our travel trailer. The last time we visited WDW was July 2005 and it was so crowded. That's why we were looking into August because the crowds are less. Any thoughts from anyone else??

I talked to a Disney rep at a camping show in Hershey this year. I told him that we had reservations for next August 6-18 and he told me that was a good time to go for crowds. The kids down there go back to school then and it goes from 30,000 to 8,000 a day. He said it is definitely hot and to plan for that but the crowd should be good.

Boy do I hope he is right!

The crowds may be less, but you need to be prepared for hurricanes. We were there in Aug 15-21 2004 and we were in Disney right after Bonnie and during Charley. Just know that Aug is typically the start of hurriane season.

The schools will not be starting so early in Florida this coming school year. Florida passed a law that public schools cannot start more than than two weeks before Labor Day and it takes effect with the 2007 school year. So Florida kids will be on vacation until about August 20th this year.

And be prepared to bring a lot of water....It Is very hot during that time of year..

They did something similar up here in Pa also. They want the school to go back after Labor Day. None of the schools in this area doing it because of the amount of snow days we get!

That is good to know though so we can plan accordingly. Please let us know if they do change their start time.

I can't change my reservations, I have teens in High School that just cannot afford to miss the time.

We were there July 14-23 and it was PACKED!!! Mostly Brazilian teenagers. Not to mention it was HOT as hell. I would assume that August would be even hotter , but I would say the crowds would be somewhat less than in July.

We can't go in August because DD starts school on Aug. 2nd!!!
