CR would be awesome! It's a great fit to our needs. The Poly would work if we could be assured of a building close to the main building. My TA is actually doing battle for us to stay at AKL. She knows that any of the monorail resorts would be our next choice, and we've even told her we would take two rooms at POR, POFQ, ASMu or ASMo, or the family suite at ASMu. The biggest issue right now is time. Today is 6 days until we leave and I won't know where we're staying until at least tomorrow.

Here's :tinker: with some pixie dust for you -- hoping you get to stay at AKL. Let us know what happens. Also, what type of room did you have -- standard, svannah or club?

I too will keep my fingers crossed that it all works out. I did not research CR that much but no building at the Poly is really that far from some type of monorail transportation.

Thanks everyone!! I really appreciate the support!!

We had a savannah view bunk bed room.

We were moved - our dates are 8/10 - 8/24 and we were in a standard room. We have been moved to a garden view room at the Poly. We have stayed at the Poly before and really enjoyed it so we are looking forward to returning.

We had pool view booked at the AKL 8/8-8/16, and we moved to the SSR in a 1-bedroom villa with a $1,100 credit.

we booked the first day that you were allowed. about a week after booking, DVC called and said they were "doubtful" room would be available. we had switched from BW to AK for DD's 16th bday. DVC upgraded us to BW preferred view. they also gave us our 1st night free which is a saturday night. I was really pleased with how they contacted me and gave me time to talk it over with my family before they made the other ressie. they told me they were keeping our ressie at AK but don't count on it. do I need to call and cancel AK?

Yours was a AKV reservation? It sounds like the already moved you to BWV and refunded some points for Saturday, right? Check your points online at www.dvcmember.com or call member services to be sure. It also sounds like they will allow you to stay at AKV *if* it's ready. I wouldn't say that it's up to you to cancel your reservation ... but member services will know for sure. We have reservations in late December for AKV studio concierge (which was only supposed to be ready in May, but they moved the date up to December) ... now I'm starting to get a little nervous.

I hope your DD has a great birthday!

I finally have a final resolution we can live with. As a reminder, we were booked at AKL 8/4-8/11 Savannah View Bunk Bed Room. Never got a call. On Friday 7/27 I called and found out we had to move. They offered SSR or YC and we took YC. Then we researched food options and discovered YC would be extremely difficult with dd's food restrictions. So my TA has been trying to negotiate some alternatives.

As of today we are booked in two adjoining rooms at POR. The food court menu looks wonderful there, the property (remembering from our honeymoom) is tree lined and mostly shaded. There are 4 bus stops so we should be pretty close to one of them.

I'm glad to have this finally resolved since we only have 4 days to go before we leave and arrive. Now... to get packing.

Amy,

so glad you finally got a resolution to your move! I thought I was close to leaving with 14 days, but WOOHOO for you! Have fun!

racinjunkie: I'm glad everything is resolved for you.
I also was disappointed in how Disney handled the relocations, since they waited one week after collecting my final payment to tell me we were being forced to move. There are definitely things at AKL that cannot be duplicated at any other resort!

We were booked with pool view, and switched to Poly lagoon view. It will be fine but it's no AKL!

Its hearing what others are being offered that is so frustrating to me. I too had pool view at AKL but was told I could only have garden view because that is what is considered a lateral move but now you got lagoon view at Poly, it just doesn't make sense to me! I am happy with WL courtyard view but I wish the CM's would get their act together and offer the same thing to each guest!

The whole fiasco is a mess. Talk about being upset at what others got, I wasn't offered a monorail resort and most others were able to get either one of those or WL (next best thing.) I had a savannah view room booked at AKL, now I don't even have a balcony. And I was never called at all, I had to call and find out for myself. It will be hard for us to do AKL on another trip becuase our kids are getting older and will cost us adult costs beginning next summer so factoring all that in, a deluxe will probably be out of the question. And that's what really makes me sad.

I agree! I read on a different post about people with standard rooms getting lagoon view, etc. Disney definitely did not have their act together on this one. It may also depend on your travel dates, as to what they offer you. They really pushed SSR on me but I was not having it! We also didn't settle right away on a move, we kept trying (unsuccessfully) to negotiate some additional freebies to make up for having to tell my DS he couldn't stay at AKL for his birthday like we planned. Maybe they offered me a lagoon view to get me to move and to stop calling them!:rotfl2: We did tell them we would not accept a lateral move without a refund. That's probably why they upgraded my room. I don't think they wanted to give me money back, in fact I'm pretty sure they don't want to hear from me again!

And you have every right to be sad and mad! Did they at least give you some money back? I know you are going through your TA but you should at least get some money back for this move. I would recommend writing an email to customer service to voice your disappointment. I emailed and received a call within 5 days of sending it, the cm I spoke to was very kind and basically just listened to me voice my concerns about the lack of consistency among the cm's. I didn't ask for anything and she didn't offer. I just wanted to know the truth about the "closing" of AKL and she said that only a select number of rooms will remain open (some concierge and the suites) Now we will see if that is the truth because I have a friend staying savannah view at AKL starting on Aug 16th and she has not received a call, she has called twice and they keep telling her they don't know what she is talking about, that everything is fine with her ressie! Best of luck to you!!

I was booked for Aug. 4 thru 9 in a savannah view room at AKL. I received the dreaded call from Disney on July 24. They wanted me to move to SSR in a one bedroom villa. I asked for Beach Club or Boardwalk Inn. I was told nothing available at Beach Club. Only a standard view room at Boardwalk. I took the Boardwalk option.
I can only hope that Boardwalk is everything I read and hear it to be!:earsboy:
