For a couple of weeks now many of us have been writing that people staying at AKL in July and August should be proactive in calling and making alternative resort plans. Many early August people are getting the calls now and their choices are not so great. If you have a reservation for later in August I would strongly suggest calling in order to get the resort that you want. If you are fine with SSR, and don't get me wrong it is a very good deal just not one that I was interested in for a variety of reasons, then you may be ok. But if you want one of the high end deluxe resorts, CR, Poly or GF then I suggest calling now.
Good luck to all.
A big ditto on this from me.
And don't stop calling until you get someone who knows about people being moved. My TA was calling every 2-3 days and was being told we didn't need to move. Finally when someone checking in two days before me (I check in 8/4) got called yesterday I decided to make some calls myself. Called AKL and the CM said he hadn't heard of people being moved. I searched through old threads on this issue and called 407-939-7919 and was still told my ressies were fine, it wasn't until I said "I'm calling to check because a lot of people are being moved out of AKL" that she put me on hold and came back and said we had to move.
I had to track this information down myself, we never got a call, and when I finally dragged the info out of someone it was 8 days before our departure/arrival day!
**Side Note** If you don't agree with what I'm about to rant about please just move on to the next thread, no need to flame me for expression of my opinion about my own vacation.
We are beyond disappoined that the only thing we've been offered is YC. This is the first time that the resort won't just be a place to sleep. I have a child with medical issues whose last disney trip was a bit of a disaster. This trip was planned around her needs. We planned to spend afternoons and evenings at the resort, in the pool, watching animals from our balcony, grabbing dinner at Mara (where they serve rotisserie chicken for kids on
DDP.) While I realize the draw of Stormalong bay is a good one for some of you, it doesn't outweigh the downside of YC for us. It's a much more formal setting, there are no CS restaurants at YC... NONE! You have to go over to BC and their the kids meal choices are ham and cheese or pj&j, I don't know about you but that's not dinner, lunch yes, but not dinner! Not to mention the fact that my daughter can't eat either of those things because of her diet restrictions.
If disney had been properly proactive about this and called early august people at the beginning of this fiasco, or called people in chronoligical order like they said they were, or in my case CALLED at all. Then maybe I wouldn't be in this boat (no pun intended... Yacht-boat.. get it?) The CM at AKL said he had been working for the last 6 days straight at AKL and had not heard about people moving. I know it's hard to notify a large number of employees but come on!!! How about a short memo at each phone saying "some guests are being relocated from AKL any inquiries have them call this number" how hard would that be??? And as far as CRO they work off computer screens, a pop up could have been programmed to state the same as the one next to the phones at AKL. Or a note could have been put in AKL reservations. CRO kept checking my reservation for notes for my TA and there was nothing there.
I realize the parks will still be there no matter where I'm staying but like I said, the resort was to be part of our vacation this trip, not just a place to sleep.
