:scared1: I just realized I have no idea how to call to the U.S. from London or any other of the countries we're going to! I've been trying to figure it out by surfing the web, but I keep finding conflicting info. :confused3 Here's what I believe to be true... please confirm or correct me if I'm wrong:

To call the US from the United Kingdom we would first dial the code to get out of the UK (00) and then the country code for the U.S. (1) and then the area code and phone number. So, I would dial: 00 1 XXX-XXX-XXXX

If so, it would be the same from Norway, Denmark, Germany, and Sweden.

But from Russia, the number would be: 8 10 1 XXX-XXX-XXXX

And from Finland, the number would be: 00 990 994 1 XXX-XXX-XXXX

Is that right????? :confused3

Thanks, Denise. That was one of the websites I looked at. :thumbsup2 I loved the little telephone getting all excited. :rotfl2: Took me a while to figure out we probably didn't need to press the * button. :rotfl: If someone who has already made a call from the UK to here would confirm, then I'd feel a whole lot better. I know we'll need to make a few calls while in London, and also sometime during our Sweden day because that's DS's birthday. :goodvibes

I'm hoping to skype instead of call, tho we have 2 global phones. Bringing our baby laptop to do that as well as blog. So glad the 1st baltic folks seem more than willing to share info. I'm counting on them. I have ~~~~19~~~ days until we leave..holy shizzle. I am not ready.

I am sure John can answer this when he gets home from London tomorrow. He always calls me on his phone :)

I haven't found anything that tells me if it's a waste of time to even pack our swimsuits for this trip. :confused3

I use my mobile (cell) phone all the time whilst I'm abroad, I've used it in America, Canada and Europe. The thing that I do when I make a call using it, is put +44 and delete the first 0 from the area code and then the rest of the number. I've already got them saved in it so it's not a problem. Don't know if that will help.

Thanks for trying to help! :goodvibes I love DISers! :lovestruc

What I've learned so far is that each country has a specific code, and since 44 must be the country code for the UK, it is what you use to make a call to the UK. However, what I'm still trying to verify is the correct dialing sequence and codes for placing a call to the U.S. :confused3 I'm pretty confident that good 'ole John will come to my rescue! :thumbsup2 Usually, we just communicate by email when we're traveling abroad, but this time we need to keep in touch with DH's father (who's not a computer user) and we definitely want to call DS on his birthday. :)

The pools are heated, so it still might be fun to splash around for a bit and then have a big, fluffy towel ready to wrap up in as soon as you get out of the pool. :)

I was wondering the same thing about the pools. I couldn't remember if they were heated or now. Thanks for the info!

UGH! I got our box of FE gifts (big box, almost as big as a suitcase  ) I didn't notice in the picture that one of the parts of it has crosses on it! I really don't want any one to be offended by them so now I'm debating whether I should return it or not. I ordered it from Oriental Trading. On the smaller things they are hard to notice...I got seperate crafty things for girls and boys. I'd hate to ruin the surprise but at the same time would love someone's opinion? Would someone be willing to PM me so I can send a pic of it?

001 is definitely the code for the US from the UK, then it's the area code, ie 407 or whatever, and then the number.

I've just been and had a look at where the Disney Magic is and as at 13.18 she was just entering the English Channel. Makes it that bit more real now.:woohoo::cheer2:

:worship: Thank you!!! I really appreciate the confirmation! :)

You're welcome. It could be that it's the same from each country that we visit. I was looking round the net today and I looked at a site which let you put in the country you were in and where you wanted to dial to and it came up the same. Don't know if it's correct.
