Denise, sorry your DD got sick..

We had our DCL House Party and it was a great success! We had all the decorations up that the cruise line sent us, and added many of our own.

We served hot and cold hors doeuvres and dips as well as pizza and bread sticks. Little pastries for dessert, too.

We showed the DVD that they sent us for the party and gave out the goodie bags with lots of great stuff in them! All in all it was a fantastic time... :)

Sound great, any photos?

:sad1:
I have been giving out the goody bags I made up to the people who couldn't come...
glad you party was fun...just wish mine didn't end up like it did. I had purchased food and some extra goodies too.....just hope my DD gets better. Good thing she does not have classes tomorrow....nobody wanted to come even close to our house with her sick...:sad2:
Have lots of entry tokens left for anyone who wants one!

Oh that is shame as it's cannot help when your daughter was not well...:hug:

Hello all,

We just got back from a week on the Magic. Sort of a warm-up for our Baltic cruise. Our server (Julian for france)was wonderful and we will request him again. Falcon our room steward was the best we have ever had. He was great with our son and stopped by every evening to make sure everything was OK.

Time to really start planning for July.

sound fun and after Xmas it will be 7 months...

Excited today!!!!:woohoo::woohoo::woohoo:

We picked vacation for next year at work today and I got all the weeks I wanted!!! Never know how it is going to go. There were 4 in my group but they transferred the number 4 person out to another city this week, so it just left us 3. One person off at a time only. I am number 3 in seniority. I will have 30 years service in Jan...

So all vacations are a great big GO for next year....good thing too, everything is already booked and paid too!!!;)
But I was sweating it while the first two picked....

It will be nice one day to not have to worry about this...that is called retirement!

Denise - that's why I let everyone know way ahead of time what we're planning, so if they don't currently have something planned, then hopefully they'll be gracious enough to not try to be off at the same time as me. Thankfully we're not quite so tight with when we can be off - and if more than one is off at a time, it's not quite a bother, although depending on which combination of people are off, it can be a bit tricky.

But yay for you getting the weeks you want!

Cindy,

This works at some places but not mine...I keep my vacation plans to myself. I know they will pick the weeks I want just because....it has happened in the past....and now since there are only 3 of us left it would again. I never get December off or Thanksgiving. The other two pick those every year! I always get my first choice, which was the Baltic time this year but after that pick one never knows....
So I got my week in April to go to Disneyland and Club 33,
My Baltic weeks,
and a the week after Thanksgiving and we are going to Southern CA again...and of course Disneyland! :woohoo:

We just got back and we had Julien as well. He was great. He did a magic trick every night for the kids. I would request him again as well.

Sounds like there might be competition for Julien as a server!

Glad you had a great time.

HI again! It's been a few months since I posted so I'm behind again! I'm going to try and keep up now.

For those doing transfers on your own, who are you using and can you give me an idea of about how much they cost? We are doing air & transfers through DCL right now, but I found airfare for about $2000 less doing it on our own. Plus I found a hotel room for MUCH cheaper than DCL offered us. But DCL was including transfers in all their costs and I can't find a break down of how much each would be.

We would need transfers from airport to hotel, hotel to port and port to airport. Do you think that would cost over $2000 for all 4 of us if we do it on our own? The train really isn't an option since we have my 5yr old with us and between dragging her & all our luggage, we'll never make it in one peice

Hi Everyone! Sorry we've been AWOL for a while. I think my last post was in October '08!!!

DH and I are still on for this cruise and are really looking forward to it! :thumbsup2

Right now, we're booked at the Renaissance Chancery Court hotel, but the rate is so high :faint: that we might switch if I can find something more reasonable. It's my own fault... I waited waaaaay to long to make a reservation.

I've also booked our air. I found an awesome business class fare on bmi airlines through Orbitz, so I splurged! :goodvibes All the flights are actually on United.

We'll be arriving in London a couple of days early and plan to get in as much sightseeing as possible. We'll head directly home on the last day of the cruise because DH will be out of vacation time and has to be at work first thing Monday morning. :guilty:

We are very interested in sharing a ride to/from the port if anyone else is interested. :) Our only hiccup is that we are on a noon flight on disembarkation day, so we will need to be one of the first off the ship.

The cruise will be here before we know it! :cheer2:

We're not traveling with our kids this time. It will be my DH and BF. We are staying and the chancery 2 day pre and 1 day post. We were able to get them room all with points. We are heading to Dover the day before and staying at the Radisson. Since we are traveling without kids, maybe we can get together and do something in London.

Hey - it's great to see some activity - it's seven months from today that we sail!

Deb - we're going to be at the Renaissance Chauncery a few days before (arriving on the 3rd) - we have our flights and hotel booked through DCL after going back and forth about doing it on our own, etc. If it ws just me and Gary, we would be more likely to do it on our own, but with four (and desiring to have just one hotel room), we found this was the only way to get the room that way. It just relieves some travel stress for us by letting DCL take care of it (so that's our Christmas gift to each other this year - LOL).

Anyway, I can't believe it's only seven months - it seemed like it would never get to this point!

I became a thread killer! :upsidedow
Nope... I have your answer but I need to find my paperwork. Things will be better for me after Wednesday and I'll let you know who we use. Just to let you know it wasn't cheap I wanna say 500 to 800 euros for the entire thing. We hired a car to take us from airport to hotel. Hotel to port and then, port to airport. I understand it is way cheaper to use a train but since we are flying out on the port date I didn't want to chance it with public transportation and also we'll be traveling with one young child that might not be able to pull her own luggage.

I just wanted to let folks know that the DCL website is now listing shore excursions for the summer 2010 Mediterranean cruises. Nothing for our cruise yet, but hopefully they will be coming soon!

Just posting to let everyone know we decided to cancel this cruise. Many reasons, including we were just on the Magic for a 7-day to St. Croix and were bored with the entertainment and food, the dates are starting to conflict with other activities for the summer, and, of course, the cost.

Sorry you had to cancel but totally understandable. I'm thinking as the years go by it is going to get harder and harder to plan things around my kids' sports schedules.

Sad to see another go....:guilty: completely understand...

on another note....7 months, WOW can't believe it....wish they would list the excursions.....just waiting :surfweb:

Did y'all see that there will be a new stage show on the Magic starting in March? Villians Tonight - Video: The Making of Disney Cruise Line's "Villains Tonight!" http://www.youtube.com/user/DisneyCruiseLineNews - this was tweeted from DCLNews today. Can't wait to sail in the Baltic AND have a new DCL show to see!

I updated the first post today - sad to have to take folks off who aren't going to be able to sail with us.
