Just got a email saying I was picked to host a DCL House Party on Nov 14th!!! Now the planning begins....
I am in Northern CA just above Sacramento---if anyone who lives close wants to come just let me know. It would be fun to meet you and also have another person at the party who has sailed on DCL....
Wow... that is cool. I didn't even know they had house parties. What is a DCL House Party? Did Disney pick you? Hopefully, we can come but I'm not sure since it is my dds birthday. I doubt she'll want to go to party like that.

From what I understand they send you a bunch of goodies to hand out. Also last time I heard they send a couple of DVDs to watch. I think we talk about our cruises. :confused3 I'm still researching....it would be cool if you could come...we will stay in touch!

We have also been chosen to host a DCL House Party! Actually, I received an invitation last year, but due to illness was not able to accept the invite. This year we are ready though!

Next on my agenda is deciding on London to Port and back transport...decisions decisions...

Hi everyone! We are just back from a week on Freedom of the Seas, and while on board, we met up with a couple who sailed the Baltic in summer 2008 - we met them online prior to sailing, and they came ready to fill us in on whatever we wanted to know about the ports we had in common. It got us so pumped up for this cruise!

Our first order of business will be to work on our "short list" for London - and then start thinking about possibilities for the ports if we want to do some things on our own while waiting for DCL's options to be available. I was waiting til our Freedom cruise was done before moving ahead to focus on the Baltic.

Hello All,
After lurking since we booked this cruise after it was first offered, I am going to join in and get active!!
We will be myself,DW, DS, DDIL to be, and other DISfriends from past DCL cruises.
We have booked a hotel at Park Plaza County Hall London for a few nights and then move to the Best Western Churchill Hotel in Dover for the night prior to cruising.
It is the Best Western Churchill Hotel and Health Club. If you search the port of Dover, you will get a list of hotels.
We are excited about cruising with our friends again and meeting many new cruise friends!!!

Denise - it's up to date except for adding Dopeylover54. I sent out PMs to those who hadn't posted in a while several weeks ago and had a few who have dropped out and lots who are still going but just haven't posted.

Wow Cindy....what a busy girl you have been :worship::worship::worship:
Thanks for keeping up the list....

I started our London planning today! Got lots of information gathered - thinks like the Big Bus Tour, Tower of London, London Eye, Buckingham Palace, British Museum, info about the tube and passes for kids / families, etc. I'm putting it all into a .pdf file - I'm not sure if there is a way to attach files here at Disboards -- if anyone knows, let me know how and I can store it somewhere if anyone wants a look.

Thought I'd post what we have here since I couldn't figure out how to attach it at this point. I hope to get a lot more info together in the next week or so and clean it up a bit to make available.

Children aged 11 to 15 years can get an 11-15 Oyster photocard to travel free on buses and trams and at child-rate on Tube, DLR and London Overground services. (From TripAdvisor) The Oyster card can also be used for buses. Best to ask at the underground ticket agent for a bus map as well, since this will come in handy. While the underground is exceedingly easy to navigate (find where you are, find the stop you want to exit and see what line will take you there), the bus system is a little harder. You will need a good map to find where you want to go, and an eagle eye to see when you get there. Read the bus stop information carefully to know which direction it is going and how many stops until you need to get off. Remember that some stops are "request only" and the bus will only stop if you signal. Just raise your hand as he approaches. These are marked on the upper sign with "Request Stop Only".

Our friends on our cruise last week got these cards for their daughters and said they worked out well for use with public transportation.

BTW, I watched the webcast for Disney Dream and they are putting a lot of things on Disney Dream that remind me of things they have on the FOS. Can't wait to book Disney Dream!

I can't believe this happened to you! OH NO.....

Although it will not help you get back all that info, this is what I do..I have a backup hard drive do an auto backup once a week...this has saved me, after the med cruise our hard drive died and it was all on there...just a few months ago the backup died so I went out and bought a new one. Just couldn't loose my info.
I also, as of a few months ago, keep binders for each vacation planned. (someone else on the board suggested it) So I have a Paris/Baltic binder, a Old Key West/DVC binder, a Marriott Vacation Club binder, then separate binders for each Marriott property, etc. These are the little 1" binders. In each binder I have tabs for air, hotel, car, things to see, and planning. I put notes in the planning until they are firm. When they are, say a car rental, I print the ressie and put it behind the car rental tab. I did this for our last two vacations and then took that binder with us. It worked out perfect!
I know it seems like a lot of work but once I set them up it was easy to keep up. I had so many folders here and there, it just organized everything so nice. It is redundant since you are saving things to your favorites, but just an idea...

Another thing I have done is to copy/paste the web sites to a word doc and save it. As I get more web sites I just add them. Then every once in awhile I print the word doc...

Hang in there...call the car rental places. It should be under your name or your club number (oh I have a binder for car rentals too!)
