Here is a LINK I saw in one of the other Baltic cruise threads on Oslo. Looks like one we may want to save for future reading..

Ok- so I woke up at 4am so I could book my AA flights home and still did not get exactly the flight we wanted! Crazy, right?

The 315p non stop was sold out on points back to Boston. We did obtain the 6pm. It means more waiting time at Heathrow but at least we get home the same day!

3 tickets all on points and 1 paid r/t for $1100. I don't think that's too bad. I'm sure I could have done better on the paid ticket if I waited, but it's not worth the stress. I know we're all on the same flights.:goodvibes

One more thing done. Now I can work on transfers. I still want to get the price for a bus on the 18th and see how many would want to share.

Back to bed.

Joanne

Good job. That's the same price I'm paying for our tickets $1163. I think, it is a great price. I'm just happy that I got everyone on the same plane without too much hassle.

Quick question Heathrow is the airport we want to fly into in London right? I think i better confirm with DCL about transportation before I book these flights. My only concern is there are no direct flights for us. It looks like we are either going through Atlanta or Kennedy and Kennedy is actually much cheaper. I hate not flying direct it gives them more of a chance to lose your luggage.

I believe DCL is using Heathrow but you might want to call to confirm. There is another airport called Garwick or Gatwick (not sure of the spelling). Some say the flights are cheaper to this airport however, it had a lot less options for me for flying in. Apparently, it isn't too far from London.

From the US the majority of flights will go into Heathrow. And I agree about the nonstops. We're driving 90 miles to Boston to get one. I remember when we sailed from Barcelona how many people were missing bags. They were miserable.

I was hoping for a direct flight from ATL but when I checked today I saw that Kennedy was the connection. Delta has several lengths of layovers, so I hope that whatever DCL puts us on that it will be the one with the longer layover in Kennedy. Or maybe Delta will have a direct flight -- they did this summer.

Delta has a direct flight leaving at 10:10pm.

OH, I'll have to look again, then, because I couldn't get it to pull up in either Kayak or on Delta.com. Maybe my travel dates and looking for four made a difference. I'm really hoping to do the direct red-eye.

Thanks for the excursion information, everyone! You've definitely put my mind at ease.

Heathrow and Gatwick are both close to London -- similar to how Kennedy, Newark, and LaGuardia are close to NYC. Both airports have train and taxi service into the city. The Gatwick Express takes you straight from the airport to Victoria Station with no stops, in about 30 minutes. There is a similar express train from Heathrow to Paddington station that takes about 15 minutes.

We are leaving from ATL too. Delta has 2 direct flights per day into London -- one into Gatwick and another into Heathrow.

You might also want to try British Airways as they also have direct flights to London from ATL. I really prefer British Airways but we are using miles on Delta so that's what we'll be flying! BA has lots of neat things for kids like special "Paddington Bear" suitcases filled with crayons, finger puppets, a little book, etc. as well as discounted fares for children. And free cocktails for grown ups! :)

Got our return flights on American today. Leaving on the 19th. There are no direct flights for us to Sacramento or San Francisco. Wanted to leave at 230pm from Heathrow and clicked on that and flights were gone with points that very second :confused3 so now we are leaving at 1215. We get home at the same time but really wanted to leave later and have less lay over in Dallas...oh well...at least we got them with points!

Ok, I have to edit this because I changed my "search" options and put in leaving at 10 p.m. AND that SCHEDULE was most important.

Yikes -- DCL has it about $500 more per passenger (but ground transportation is included). I am hoping that they will drop their air price, but don't know at this point if they will. I just emailed our TA to see what she can find out for us. I know when they set prices that it was when fuel costs were going up, up, up.

Our itinerary has us on the Redeye from ATL.

Cindy...so glad I read your post....I booked the wrong date for our return flight..:scared1:but I only put it in a hold status....so tomorrow I will book the 20th like I ment too.....

Oh Denise - yikes - that would be bad. How long can you "hold" a flight reservation?

it holds for 4-5 days...
All is well.... sorta...My DD is sick again and I was up at 330am with her so I looked :surfweb: and booked the correct one! Got the 230pm time too. So now we leave on the 20th and get back home at 10pm but leave 2 hours later. I really didn't want a 4 hour lay over in Dallas...I've done that (on the Med cruise return) and it was not fun. But they did put us in 1st class for the last 2 hours. Don't remember a thing, fell asleep the minute I sat down...

now just to get my DD well before her black belt test on Sat....

Am I the only one going through DCL for air? When would we find out our flights info? I assume closer to the cruise date but would love to know sooner LOL

Joanne,

Same thing happened to us. We will be flying home on the 6pm flight with you. What day are you planning to head across the pond? We are leaving on the 1st.
