Joanne,

Same thing happened to us. We will be flying home on the 6pm flight with you. What day are you planning to head across the pond? We are leaving on the 1st.

Hi Scott- We're heading over on the 29th of June . We plan a few nights in London and then up to Scotland before Dover.

I definitely want to arrange a car service transfer on the 18th. We booked a day room at the Sheraton Skyline (great pool!).

Joanne

it holds for 4-5 days...
All is well.... sorta...My DD is sick again and I was up at 330am with her so I looked :surfweb: and booked the correct one! Got the 230pm time too. So now we leave on the 20th and get back home at 10pm but leave 2 hours later. I really didn't want a 4 hour lay over in Dallas...I've done that (on the Med cruise return) and it was not fun. But they did put us in 1st class for the last 2 hours. Don't remember a thing, fell asleep the minute I sat down...

now just to get my DD well before her black belt test on Sat....
Phew.... glad you got the correct flight. I did this once in booking a red-eye. I booked midnight on Friday night when I meant to book midnight on Saturday and I was paying cash for my tickets. Thank goodness they let me cancel and rebook without penalty.

Hope your dd feels better soon!

Am I the only one going through DCL for air? When would we find out our flights info? I assume closer to the cruise date but would love to know sooner LOL

We're doing DCL air, too. We got our flight info officially about a month out when we did the Med. Our itinerary says Air from Atlanta on the Red-eye.

Got our return flights on American today. Leaving on the 19th. There are no direct flights for us to Sacramento or San Francisco. Wanted to leave at 230pm from Heathrow and clicked on that and flights were gone with points that very second :confused3 so now we are leaving at 1215. We get home at the same time but really wanted to leave later and have less lay over in Dallas...oh well...at least we got them with points!

Ok- so I woke up at 4am so I could book my AA flights home and still did not get exactly the flight we wanted! Crazy, right?

I
The 315p non stop was sold out on points back to Boston. We did obtain the 6pm. It means more waiting time at Heathrow but at least we get home the same day!

3 tickets all on points and 1 paid r/t for $1100. I don't think that's too bad. I'm sure I could have done better on the paid ticket if I waited, but it's not worth the stress. I know we're all on the same flights.:goodvibes

One more thing done. Now I can work on transfers. I still want to get the price for a bus on the 18th and see how many would want to share.

Back to bed.

Joanne

stayed up to 1am to make sure we would get the return flight we wanted. We're doing one with AA points and I'm paying for one. There are direct flights for Tampa. So, we're doing Tampa Miami Heathrow. When we did the outbound flight, I did not wait up and the Tampa Heathrow flight was no 60k points instead of 30k. For 30k we would have to go thru Dallas, and didn't want to do that. Then I searched just Miami to Heathrow (exact same flight we would have-only 1 direct flight out of Miami daily), and I could do that for 30k miles. So, I would up buying DH a one way ticket from Tampa to Miami, same flight as mine, and AA said they could check his luggage all the way thru to London.
Come to book the return leg for the 19th wanting to go thru Miami again and only 1 flight daily. I was able to click on it for 30k miles, hit continue, said there was a system error. Tried closing out completely and going back in, same thing. Called tech support and he had me install Mozilla Firefox and use that browser, still didn't work. Called back, got the same guy, and they finally gave in to waiving the fee for having them book it. Finally 2:15 am, I am all done.
So we arrive in London 7/3 at 6:35 and flight on 7/19 is at 9:55am.
I paid $1200 for my r/t tix.

One good thing happened during all this, I went to my other cruise thread for November and someone had posted that Florida residents rates were available for our cruise. so, after getting to bed at 3am, I made it to my TA's door step by 8:30am when they opened. She was there, got Disney right on the phone, and I was able to get a $2300 refund b/c I had already made final but was still more than 75 days out. I did lose the $400 obc for rebooking on board. They said no double dipping. Net net I'm still ahead. I was still able to keep the obc via the TA.

Am I the only one going through DCL for air? When would we find out our flights info? I assume closer to the cruise date but would love to know sooner LOL

I was going to use them, but they weren't offering flight from Tampa. I would have had to drive to Orlando airport (2 hours)
Now we had enough points for 1 roundtrip tix.

Everything is starting to come together. :cool1: Sent all the kids to school yesterday(my baby is off to kindergarten) Soccer and everything else starts up next month. It will be back to the hectic schedules.

Joanne,

Can you get me a link to the Sheraton Skyline? The day room sounds like a good option. We should definitely share the car service and save some $$ if you want. Are you going to the New England podcast meet in Sept? If so, we'll have to be sure to chat then.

Hi Scott,

Here's the link to the hotel..if you hit book now and put in check in jul 18 and out the 19th a day room is one of the options. It's a reasonable cost. I have stayed there before and the pool really was fun. http://www.starwoodhotels.com/sheraton/property/overview/index.html?propertyID=268

I also think that sharing a car would be wonderful. If you'd like, I can check a few companies and see what the cost would be.

When/what is the podcast meet? Is there a link?

Joanne

I booked a day room. Thanks for the link. If you don't mind investingating options for a transfer that would be great. We would have 2 adults and a 3 year old, plus some insane amount of luggage if I know my wife.

Here is the link for the meet http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2200572 If you can't make it them maybe we can make plans to get together one of these days before the cruise.

So we're thinking seriously now about booking airfare on our own. For one thing, we'll be going over with arrival on July 3rd, so even if something happened to delay us, it's not like it's sailing day. Second, it's a lot cheaper even with having to pay separately for transfers. Third, we will be certain we have a non-stop direct flight from ATL to Heathrow. Our TA said that DCL won't know if we'll be going into Heathrow or Gatwick until much closer to time.

good idea!!!! book it on YOUR terms!!! looking forward to meeting everyone. 10 months and 1 day, and we will be on our way to the airport for our flight over!!!!

:cool1:

OK so we have finally made a decision to change our reservation and book with points. We are also going to book our flights and hotel on our own as they are both cheaper than they are with Disney. Now I've just got to call DVC and do it but I refuse to call on a Saturday and spend forever on hold. I'll call tomorrow.

My DD got her 1st degree black belt today....we are so proud....Here's a pic of her with an instructor...watch out for her on the cruise!!!

Whooo Hooo! We are booked on points too. What category are you going for? We had to take category 11 since we needed the two staterooms. But, I am thinking we will sleep better since it stays light out so late, lol.

Congratulations to your DD! That is quite an accomplishment, and certainly something that can be very handy to have for protection. :)

We are booked on points also. It's not a great use of points but it's wonderful to know it's paid for already!

We booked a cat 10 since there was only a small difference in points between that and a cat 11. I feel so much better knowing that the cruise is taken care of and we don't have that huge payment hanging over us any more. Not a great use of points but oh well.

Scott, I sent you a PM. I hope that's ok!
Joanne

Got it. Joanne, thanks for doing all the leg work. The Massachusetts contingent is slowly getting ready for the cruise.

how up to date is the list on the first page?
Thinking about FE and what to do. Have never been in one before...so really don't know how it works....:confused3 do I get every person something including the kids?

I think it's changed a bit....

Sorry for my absence. We’re still on this cruise, but we’re weighing our options against the cost. We love the Southern Caribbean Christmas Cruise itinerary and are considering it over this (we have both booked at this time). That’s why I’ve been absent of planning and comments. Our GA friends have already cancelled. At this point, we are going to see what the 2011 itineraries are and go from there. I’ll keep you posted.

I've kept the list updated as people have joined or dropped out, but we haven't had a "roll call" in a while -- perhaps this weekend, I'll PM everyone that hasn't posted in a while to see if their plans have changed or if they are still planning to go.

We don't have a FE-participant list yet, I don't think. Although we should probably get one started as we're heading into seasonal shopping times and I know we sometimes find things (like pirate themed stuff) on clearance after Halloween or other things after the winter holidays that we might use for putting together our FE gifts).
