Got our return flights on American today. Leaving on the 19th. There are no direct flights for us to Sacramento or San Francisco. Wanted to leave at 230pm from Heathrow and clicked on that and flights were gone with points that very second

so now we are leaving at 1215. We get home at the same time but really wanted to leave later and have less lay over in Dallas...oh well...at least we got them with points!
Ok- so I woke up at 4am so I could book my AA flights home and still did not get exactly the flight we wanted! Crazy, right?
I
The 315p non stop was sold out on points back to Boston. We did obtain the 6pm. It means more waiting time at Heathrow but at least we get home the same day!
3 tickets all on points and 1 paid r/t for $1100. I don't think that's too bad. I'm sure I could have done better on the paid ticket if I waited, but it's not worth the stress. I know we're all on the same flights.
One more thing done. Now I can work on transfers. I still want to get the price for a bus on the 18th and see how many would want to share.
Back to bed.
Joanne
stayed up to 1am to make sure we would get the return flight we wanted. We're doing one with AA points and I'm paying for one. There are direct flights for Tampa. So, we're doing Tampa Miami Heathrow. When we did the outbound flight, I did not wait up and the Tampa Heathrow flight was no 60k points instead of 30k. For 30k we would have to go thru Dallas, and didn't want to do that. Then I searched just Miami to Heathrow (exact same flight we would have-only 1 direct flight out of Miami daily), and I could do that for 30k miles. So, I would up buying DH a one way ticket from Tampa to Miami, same flight as mine, and AA said they could check his luggage all the way thru to London.
Come to book the return leg for the 19th wanting to go thru Miami again and only 1 flight daily. I was able to click on it for 30k miles, hit continue, said there was a system error. Tried closing out completely and going back in, same thing. Called tech support and he had me install Mozilla Firefox and use that browser, still didn't work. Called back, got the same guy, and they finally gave in to waiving the fee for having them book it. Finally 2:15 am, I am all done.
So we arrive in London 7/3 at 6:35 and flight on 7/19 is at 9:55am.
I paid $1200 for my r/t tix.
One good thing happened during all this, I went to my other cruise thread for November and someone had posted that Florida residents rates were available for our cruise. so, after getting to bed at 3am, I made it to my TA's door step by 8:30am when they opened. She was there, got Disney right on the phone, and I was able to get a $2300 refund b/c I had already made final but was still more than 75 days out. I did lose the $400 obc for rebooking on board. They said no double dipping. Net net I'm still ahead. I was still able to keep the obc via the TA.
Am I the only one going through
DCL for air? When would we find out our flights info? I assume closer to the cruise date but would love to know sooner LOL
I was going to use them, but they weren't offering flight from Tampa. I would have had to drive to Orlando airport (2 hours)
Now we had enough points for 1 roundtrip tix.
Everything is starting to come together.

Sent all the kids to school yesterday(my baby is off to kindergarten) Soccer and everything else starts up next month. It will be back to the hectic schedules.
