The first Baltic cruise that is our same itinerary leaves a week from today! I haven't been following their Meets thread (having enough trouble keeping up on this one! :rotfl: ), but I do hope they post trip reports. I wonder if any of them are planning to keep blogs as they go? I can't wait to get some first-hand information!!!!!!!

Here is a link to a blog that will be from one of the cruisers on the first cruise... found it the other day and bookmarked it to check on progress...

Awesome! Thanks! Can't wait to follow it! :thumbsup2

By the way, I wonder if your DD met my DS during their CP experience in summer '04? DS's role was custodial on Main Street, U.S.A.! :)

My pleasure... Can't wait to start reading trip reports as they go... I'm still a little confused regarding currency and the best way to purchase and possible amounts needed. Not planning on doing alot of shopping but wanted to purchase a few things for myself including fabric.

It's possible. They may have run into each other - she stayed in the apartments provided for students in the program and worked at Coronado Springs in banqueting and catering. She was a student at The Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, NY. Stayed in the parks on her days off and loved every minute if it... I need to go back to school so I can do the program... what an awesome experience and perks...

It's a small world. ;) DS stayed at Chatham Apts, too. :thumbsup2 I agree, it was a wonderful program and I lived every minute vicariously through him! ;) We also just had to visit him every other month while he was on the program. :rotfl:

Can you believe we are getting so close to our trip! 3 weeks from today we will be gone!!!

This week has been horrible for me. First I had to face reality that my job is done....I am unemployed....weird feeling for sure....

then my DD got sick again and was in ER and then they admitted her to the hospital. Have kept up on the posts on the thread because the hospital had wifi!
She is home now and better. Same problem she has had for over 3 years now. Extreme side pain and throwing up. Doctors have run every test there is to run and will not xray her any more. They gave her more stomach meds to help with the nausea. She does have a rib problem from an old injury which doesn't help. When she throws up it acts up too causing her pain. At least that is what I think....the doctors agreed but don't have anything better to add. It is not her gall bladder, appendix, or liver . She throws/spits up almost every morning with stomach acid. We are crossing our fingers the new meds help.

When she got out of the hospital yesterday we went right to her doctors office. He said she has to avoid: spicy foods, (which she has done), no alcohol, no coffee (this might be hard for her, she loves those white mochas), no chocolate!, (really?), no smoking, and no peppermint...

She is so afraid she will have a flare up while on the cruise....lets pray that doesn't happen...

So now that I am not sitting at ER or the hospital I can finally do the laundry and finish the planning.

Have a great weekend everyone.....I know I will be more relaxed now that she is better....

We will see you at the Royal Ball :woohoo: Are there suggestions for attire for that event?

My DH is renting a tux for the cruise, so he plans to wear it for this. My daughters and I will wear cocktail-length dresses and flat shoes. DCL website says: "Dress code: This event, which is not a formal affair, does not stipulate a dress code; however, elegant yet comfortable evening attire is suggested, as well as flat, comfortable shoes. Guests should bring raingear in case of inclement weather."

Thank you! DH is going to wear his formal tux (the one he will wear for formal nights) and I'm trying to decide for the girls. His tux is black and I have a holiday dress for the little one that is cream and black - so I guess that sets the formal theme for the trip. Black flats for me... do flip flops count? ;)

As long as your feet are comfortable, I'm sure flip flops count! I'll tell my husband that he won't be the only one in a tux. That will make him very happy!

We will see you on this! I feel the need for lime green buttons for everyone, so I can find y'all on these excursions. :goodvibes

Oh good- I didn't see anyone else taking it! We're leaving the kids behind for this one- it will just be John (DH) and myself..he loves steam trains and I love him  so I booked it!

Hopefully, we will meet onboard before then..

So sorry to hear about your challenging week. Please tell Eleni I'm sending her pixie dust pixiedust: that she doesn't experience any symptoms during your trip! And, I hope you settle into a "new normal" retired routine soon.

:cool1: My fabric for our new fish extender arrived today!!!!! Sewing begins on Monday!!!! :yay:

Denise...yikes!!!! Hope all is well!!!

holy cow you guys post alot

I've been out of internet touch for almost the last week - both boys have been having playoff games for LAX & baseball. My 8th grader had the culmination of his yearlong project on Thurs night. Then yesterday he got sent home from school with 100+ degree temp. - he's better today but Mon is their Washington DC trip so he needs to be good to go!

Wow - I can really use this vacation :rotfl:

We did get our docs  so it's feeling more "real" now.

Can't wait to see everyone at the meet.

can the Palo brunch time be added to the first post?

if not can someone remind me when it is?? or is it on Monsto's webpage?

just called ATT...yeah still have my cell thru them even though they ended my job....:sad1:
found about international rates...

monthly plan is $5.99, is prorated, can be started and stopped at any time.

with that plan the rates per minute go down from $1.29 per min to $.99 per minute in most countries we go to except of course Russia! That is $4.99 w/o plan and $3.99 with plan. If called from DCL while on board it is $2.49 per minute with or without the plan. There might be additional charges from Disney too.

The minute starts as soon as your phone starts ringing! So if it rings for awhile and you don't answer and someone leave a message...:scared1: that could add up..

also it is $.50 per text to send and what ever your plan is to receive a text.
The data plan was too hard to understand.

here is their website...but I just called and talked to someone...
www.wireless.att.com/learn/international/roaming/international-roaming.jsp

I had thought about bringing my phone...now I don't know...I get so many people calling with wrong number and hanging up....:confused3

My cell phone is a corporate Blackberry, so I never actually see the bill (although, I was told that when 6 of us travelled to India in March for a week, our combined charges came to $4,500). I try to act responsibly with it, so I generally leave it switched off all day, and then switch it on for 5-10 minutes in the morning while in port, allow the email to synchronize, then I switch off the wireless and read and respond to my emails. Another 5-10 minutes to allow the email to sync again (so my responses get sent) and then I switch it back off again. If I need to make any calls, I do it during that morning period.

If I do need to make a personal call, well, that compensates for my checking work emails during vacation.

I will generally carry it with me (powered off) during excursions, just in case I run into trouble and need it for emergencies or otherwise.
