Has anyone have their packing lists yet? We're working on it tonight, and whew...its tough! 5 people on a 12 night cruise with 3 days pre and 12 days post.

Its a lot of clothes. I'm thinking of only taking one formal dress, one cocktail dress and 3 casual dinner dresses. Does that seem like too little? I'll wear my cocktail dress twice and the other 3 dresses, 3 times each.

On my previous 3 7 day cruises I always wear a different outfit every night, but I don't want to get boggled with 12 dinner outfits and just as many day outfits.

I HATE packing.

That's what I am working on today!! I don't even know where to begin .... I really want to keep packing to a minimum, because I want LOTS or room let for souveniors!!

We made ours the other day. Since were gone almost three weeks we decided to pack for one week and just use the laundry serve or do it ourselves. For dinner we've decided to just pack cruise casual. I am bringing a tie to add on for formal night. It just isn't worth hauling a suit all the way to Europe. Were limiting ourselves to one bag each so everything needs to be multipurpose.

can the Palo brunch time be added to the first post?

if not can someone remind me when it is?? or is it on Monsto's webpage?

we should hear something this week about brunch day - i put in the request for 1st sea day but i also had to have a second choice so we'll see. Jeff's group is on his res. so not sure if he has heard anything yet. Will let you guys know as soon as I know!

Who was the creator of our "pounds to rubbles - Mickey invades the Baltic" banner? whoever you are, could you contact me??

In denial about packing -

will be with some of you on the Tivoli Gardens all inclusive , Porvo steam train, and character ball.

having a nice response for the Dis meet - even you lurkers out there should stop by and say hi!:)

Wow - you are going to be traveling a whole month! That would be a tough packing job!!!

I also plan to wear the same outfits more than once, including for dinner. I'm willing to bet that most people will be doing the same. :thumbsup2

Okay, at the risk of everyone checking out what Deb T.'s wearing everyday on the cruise, I'm going to reveal to the world what DH's and my strategy is for keeping packing to a minimum and having tons of room for souvenirs... we take mostly "throw away" clothes! :) Not ratty, stained, out-of-style stuff, but rather the clothing that we know we aren't going to wear anymore. Usually that stuff just hangs in the closet for a couple of years and then gets donated to Goodwill. Instead, we pack it, wear it on the trip, then leave it all behind - giving us tons of empty space for all our souvenirs! (We do also take a couple of nice, new outfits that we bring back, but the majority is throw away stuff, including socks and undies.) We were the envy of all the people on our China group trip last October as we continued to only have to haul our roll-aboard suitcases while everyone else was having to purchase additional luggage for souvenirs - especially when they all arrived at the airport and had to pay additional luggage fees! ;)

We made ours the other day. Since were gone almost three weeks we decided to pack for one week and just use the laundry serve or do it ourselves. For dinner we've decided to just pack cruise casual. You won't be alone because DH is doing the same... just bringing a tie, dress shirt, and suit pants for formal and semi-formal nights and leaving the suit jacket at home. Who knows if we'll even make it to the dining room for these meals... our plan is to rest and relax on this cruise (with the exception of all our excursions! ;) ). We've never eaten dinner in Topsiders and will probably end up there several times this sailing.

We plan to travel with just two roll-aboard suitcases and two other carry-on bags. (That's all we needed for 9 days in China and a week in Europe in '08.) However, if the packing gets too tight, I'm not opposed to having to check a bag. (We checked luggage for the Med cruise and it was lost for 5 days!!!) I got all the FE stuff packed yesterday. I'm working on packing everything except clothes today. Then, we'll start on clothes about a week before we leave. Can't wait!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If I remember correctly.....The main part of the design was by someone that wasn't on our cruise. The person had designed one for their cruise and someone (can't remember who) asked if they could help our cruise. I do know the Viking Mickey part was designed by John.."Dad of Lost Boys". John and his family had to cancel :sad1: awhile back. I know he lurks on our thread from time to time.
I remember that in the beginning of our thread is where all the design talk was..
Hope this helps....

ok the main part was by

Brooklyn

see pg 27, post 405

John did the viking mickey...and added it
DadOfLostBoys

hope this helps....

I'm probably bringing 1 dress & then 2 skirts & blouses - which will definitely be reworn. We're going to do laundry since we're gone a total of 3 weeks. I'm hoping DCL will have a laundry special - we were on an RCCL cruise & mid-week they had a special on washing everything you could stuff in the bag for one price

!

Thank you for saying this - I do this & even my own dh thinks I'm nuts, but it saves room!!!

Hiya fellow DIS DCLers! School is out for the summer and in less than four weeks, we'll be in London! Yay yay yay! I'm catching up on things this afternoon (mostly DIS reading!).

First of all, let me say we're sending {{{ healthy vibes }}} to all our fellow passengers and their loved ones who may not be going -- we want everyone to be healthy for traveling and those that are staying behind to be healthy, too, so those of us going won't have to worry about them!!!!

Secondly, thanks to Joanne for putting together the FE list - and for putting the list in Cabin Number order - that was brilliant! I've coordinated the list before and never thought to do that!

As for packing, DH is not bringing a tie nor dress shoes. I will likely pack one skirt with a couple of tops that are interchangable should I feel the need to wear a skirt to the dining room - and mostly because it packs so nicely and doesn't take up much room at all. Deb, you mentioned going to Topsiders for dinner - let me tell you, we did that on the Christmas 2008 cruise several nights and absolutely loved it. It was quiet and intimate, the food was on par with what they had downstairs (considering it's basically the same), and the fact that we didn't have to do more than wash up before going was fabulous. We ate Christmas dinner in shorts and t-shirts somewhere in the middle of the ocean :santa: I was just telling Gary that we should coordinate some time with you all to meet for a Topsiders dinner.

As for excursions, I see there are several of us on the Monday night Evening Canal excursion in St. Petersburg. How fun would that be to be a canal boat full of DISers??? 2littlestitches, we're on the Historical Stockholm and Sigtuna with Lunch with you all. I know that there are a couple of others doing the St. Petersburg Shopping on Monday afternoon as we are as well.

We're doing Norwegian Adventure from Oslo, City and Harbor Tour from Copenhagen, Molli Steam Train from Warnemunde, the Shopping Experience and Evening Canal Boat tour in St. Petersburg on Monday and the City Highlights and Hermitage on Tuesday. Wednesday in Helsinki finds us with the Panoramic Helsinki in the afternoon for a short motorcoach excursion because we're meeting my third cousin Tuomas for the morning... he will show us around and we'll have lunch with him and his family - we are so super excited about that! We've met via email and now on facebook and cannot wait to meet live and in person. Then on Thursday we're doing the Historical Stockholm and Sigtuna excursion as mentioned above.

For packing, we are planning six days worth of clothes and doing laundry twice. We have the washing sheets that have the detergent and fabric softener in them - we used them at Disneyland last summer and they worked fine - plus are way easier to pack. :laundy: (love the laundry icon).

Yay yay yay - it's coming up so soon!

No one has said it yet...so I will..ONE MONTH.....:cool1::cool1:

The first Baltic cruise that is our same itinerary leaves a week from today! I haven't been following their Meets thread (having enough trouble keeping up on this one! :rotfl: ), but I do hope they post trip reports. I wonder if any of them are planning to keep blogs as they go? I can't wait to get some first-hand information!!!!!!!

Here's another blog from MJGirl that has been started for the first Northern Baltic Cruise.

Hope this helps... Can't wait to hear what they have to say !!!

Could someone who is doing the St Petersburg canal tour tell me what time it starts? We are doing a private day tour and they don't seem to be willing to do an evening one with us so were thinking of coming back and catching it. Thanks!

We are doing a private tour and they offer an evening canal tour as well. I believe anyone can do the evening tour. Happy to send you the info. Please let me know.

the Monday time is 7 pm to 9:45 pm.

I'll share our strategy for having room for souveniers. Besides trying to pack light, something we do is pack all of our old, unwanted underwear and socks for the trip. Even old pajamas that are near the end of their usable life. Then, we toss them as we go along and voila.....more room for souveniers! It works!

We are planning on doing the same. It's a good way to pare down your stuff... Same thing for older polo/t-shirts as well...

Either way though, I think we are going to bring 2 30" suitcases and 1 24" suitcase... My wife does not like to pack light...

has anyone seen Navigators and/or menus from the Med cruises yet online? Just trying to get an idea of what will be going on :goodvibes

Joanne, thank you so much for organizing the FE list! :thumbsup2

Please send FE list for njdisneyfans to "mcoral1" - we are one and the same. Thanks very much!
