Got our docs yesterday! Seems even more real now!

Do we have a theme for the FE? Just peeked at the homemade FE gifts thread and now feel woefully inadequate I wish I had an ounce of crafty talent!

I always use my cell phone on holiday in America and Europe and I've never had to get an International sim card or change my phone. I live in the UK and my phone is a tri band, which means I can use it just about anywhere in the world, there are some places where it can't be used, but for the majority of places it works great. All I had to do to be able to use my phone abroad was contact my provider and ask them to unblock interantional call roaming. Basically they enabled the phone to be used anywhere in the world. So if your phone is a tri or quad band, all you should have to do is contact your provider and ask them to unblock it. Hope that helps.

My phone is a Verizon Wireless CDMA phone... It's not going to work in the UK... I wish it was that easy...

You might also want to check on international roaming rates with your providers-some can be ridiculously expensive on top of long distance charges.

So i decided to make a new fish extender for this trip. Just ordered the fabric and can't wait to make it!!! Should arrive in 2-3 days, so I will have plenty of time to sew it!!!

Exciting! I can hardly wait to make my delivery to it!

I've always wanted a "real" fish extender, like all the really fancy ones that have been posted on the DIS boards. But, I've never had the time to work on one. So, my FE is just a canvas bag that has a round tropical scene in the center, DH's and my name across the top (DD & DS rarely sail with us anymore), and the names of all four Disney ships across the bottom. (I wanted to be ready for any sailing! ) It's not fancy, but it works well enough for all the goodies that are delivered!

The main body will be a print of Matryoshka dolls, our 3 pockets will be 3 different coordinating solid colors (blue, gold, and red) and the binding for the body and pockets will be a coordinating print. I might use the binding print for the back, too. I was fortunate to find a coordinating collection of fabrics so it will 100% match...I am too OCD for it not to. Can't wait to show it off and for Jack to find goodies in it. We will bring a bunch extra for him too so he will always have something in his pocket!!!!

Sounds awesome! We'd love to see a picture on here when you get done with it! What a great idea to bring extra surprises for your son! One suggestion... make the pockets deep - around 10" if you have enough material - because the FEs tend to fill up fast each day.

Does it allow for international service? If yes, the SIM card should have come with the phone. A Verizon store should be able to help.

Are any of you getting an international cell phone/SIM card to use, particularly when in England? If so, reputable places to get one?

We've had good luck finding SIM cards in airports as soon as we arrive in other countries. When traveling overseas, we use an inexpensive cell phone that DS bought while in Hong Kong and just change out the SIM card for each country. We plan to pick up a SIM card in London and another one in Stockholm since that day is DS's birthday and we'll definitely want to call him. The rest of the time, we'll just communicate with everyone through emails onboard the ship.
