July 5th Dream

Hi.

We're on this cruise too. Not sure why I didn't post to this thread yet as I'm on the FE thread. Weird. :confused3 Too much to do I guess. :goodvibes

Anyway, this is the second leg of our back to back. We are cruising with my parents for their 50th anniversary. So we leave this Friday evening for our trip. We head to Savannah for a couple of nights, then my in-laws in FL, then over to Cocoa Beach to meet up with my parents and sisters. Then we board on the July 1 cruise and then this one! We can't wait!!! :cool1: :cool1: :cool1:

I have an 11 year old DD if anyone has one close to her age, we should meet up. :thumbsup2

Princess Bette - have fun learning the new camera! I bet you will not be a at a loss for things to take pictures of! Will you be getting a waterproof case for your camera for snorkeling pictures?

Eeyore'sthebest - ok, so we will look for you if we get lost. How fun that you will doing a back-to-back!

Last night, I picked out my dinner outfits. The tightest one will be worn on the first night, the roomiest one on the last night. I also have my pirate night costume. I prefer the one I wore three years ago, but my youngest daughter felt I had too much cleavage :confused3(teenagers! DH loved that outfit!), so I bought a new one after Halloween. I figure cleavage is my best feature:thumbsup2, but since we are bringing my daughter's friend, I suppose I should remain "G"-rated with my outfit. Hmm, we do have two cabins, perhaps I shall bring the cleavage piratess outfit to wear after the girls leave us, when DH and I go out that night. DH is paying for this, I suppose I should make him happy too, right? ;)

I still have to pair up shoes to my dresses. This is no easy task. I have a few shoes, but never the perfect shoe. DH said no more shoe shopping (I haven't bought any new shoes in 2 weeks! torture!). He doesn't understand that I have a coupon to DSW! Men.

I did buy some more Make-up-Forever eyeliner. LOVE that stuff! Stays on even when I swim. Yes, I wear make-up when I swim. It is the blonde in me - never met a mirror I didn't have to gaze upon. Usually it is just to reaffirm how hideous I look, but still, I look! :rolleyes1

Only one more intense week to clean for the housesitter and get things ready, and then the real work begins - fitting it all into the van! Yup, this is really vacation mode now!

With only 2 weeks before we board the DREAM! I finally have time to rejoin this thread! We're all so looking forward to this vacation, especially with staying at AKL for 4 days before we set sail. A first for many of us!

It's almost TIME!!!:cool1:

Kristen87 - Your first time at Animal Kingdom Lodge?!! I hope you love it! It is my family's favorite resort, and the only place we considered for buying DVC.

Some people don't care for how out of the way AKL is, but for my family, we like that. The bus rides make us feel like we really are leaving central FL and entering a new area, and we love how quiet and still it is in the evening. Plus, we all are really quite fond of animals, so sitting around doing nothing but watching the antics of giraffes and zebras is heavenly.:cloud9:

If you are ever at the resort in the early afternoon, and you see a storm coming in, stand on your balcony (if it is safe from lightning, of course). If you do not have a savannah view, run to one of the outside overlooks. Then, when the first big boom of thunder comes, and the giraffes run one way, the zebras another, antelope a third way, you can feel the balcony shake, you hear the beating of hoofs, and you almost believe you are in the African veldt during a storm.

At least, that is how my family felt the first time we saw the animals run to their enclosures during a bad storm, but then we are easily awed by many things. :)

Sure, the walk is really, really, really long if you are at the end of a wing, but then I figure I am walking miles each day already at Disney, what's another mile? If my feet hurt, I will sit by a hallway window for a bit and watch the animals, and I shall later reward myself for all my exertion with something yummy. I lose weight at AKL, yet I eat everything I desire. There are plusses to those long hallways!

Enjoy your stay! And we Animal Kingdom resort people really should meet up and say hello pre-cruise!

Too funny!!!!!

But, now that you are all saying you're getting packing, I'm tempted to go pull out the suitcases and get started myself! Currently, all cruise stuff is in a couple boxes in the laundry room so I can keep it all together and ready to pack. Might as well get started, right? Yeah!!!

My birthday is the day we disembark (boo!!) and my DH and DS gave me a early present today: a Nikon D3100 DSLR camera that I have been wanting since before Christmas!! party: So excited that I may have time to learn how to turn it on before we set sail!! :lmao: Just had to share the good news! :yay:

:cool1::yay::cheer2:
Congrats and happy early birthday, Bette! That present is going to come in VERY VERY handy!!! :)

Thank you Marcy! I have learned how to snap photo's (sometimes!) and record video...that's about all I'm going to have time to learn before we leave in....6 days!!! Wow, can't believe it is getting so close!

I completed the journal and autograph book projects!! :woohoo: DS LOVES the autograph book...the journal is a surprise...sort of now since he did find it and saw the cover page and knows it is for him, but he hasn't seen the actually contents yet. I'm making him wait until cruise day! ;)

Speaking of DS, we had to make an unexpected visit to the pediatrician today...he had a syncope episode this afternoon. So me, being a mom and a nurse, had all kinds of possible causes running through my head. I had access to a glucometer and checked his blood sugar, which was ok at 81. So I called the office and off we went. After several tests includng an EKG, we found out he has sinus arrhythmia - usually benign. We were given info on how to try to prevent future episodes. In the mean time, we will continue to watch him closely for other problems. He is on several meds, one of which could be a culprit as well. Should future episodes occur, a visit to the cardiologist will be in order. He was cleared to go on vacation! :dance3:

So now, I still have to bag and tag the FE's - tomorrows project! And then all that is left is the packing!! I need a vacation so bad!!! Just ask my family!
Happy weekend everyone!

I am already starting to pull stuff out and realizing i want to bring too much, so at least i have 6 days to whittle it down to a reasonable amount!

Good luck to all packers!

Bette, glad your son is doing okay and cleared to go on vacation! Thank goodness you are a nurse!!!

And you got your autograph book done? Yeah!!! I am printing a journal for DD too! Was it the one by one of the Dis-signers? That's the one I'm printing, but the printer just ran out of ink yesterday as I was printing it - of course! So, off to Target sometime today to get more ink so I can finish printing and hide it before she sees! DS won't get a journal this time because he's only 3, and obviously won't do much journaling, but DD is 5 and LOVES to write, so she is going to be so thrilled to have this to work on! :)

Happy weekend everyone!!!! Next weekend most of us will be off to Orlando for some sort of pre-cruise trip (we're doing Universal b/c I want to see Wizarding World of Harry Potter~!) then we all board the cruise! Hooray!!!

WE too are at Universal from July 1 - 4 we are staying at Royal Pacific, I cant wait to try the Butter Beer! Hope it isnt crazy packed! :dance3:

We started to pull stuff together last night. We're going to WDW for a few days before the cruise so trying to figure out what to pack for both. I can't believe its almost here!

I have a feeling it WILL be packed! But, we'll make the best of it! We're doing Universal on Sunday the 3rd and Islands of Adventure on Monday the 4th. We're staying off site b/c we didn't need the express passes since our friend works at Universal NBC and got us some Employee Gold Gap passes to skip the lines and walk on the exits of the rides, woohoo! So we figured, save some money and stay offsite. Can't wait to see the Wizarding World of Harry Potter!!!! So excited about that!!! The kids want to see the Dr. Seuss area - I had a Cat in the Hat dress made for my DD and a matching faux-suspenders Cat in the Hat shirt for DS. Figured it'd make for some great pictures in Dr. Seuss land!
Can't wait! Maybe we'll see you there amidst the crowds!
I'll be the one wearing the Ravenclaw Quidditch team shirt! Ha!

I Played a joke on the DW that I know I'm going to pay dearly for. She is a bit excited about the Dream. I put Pandora on the iPAD, added the "Walt Disney Radio" station to it, set the volume just loud enough to barley hear and hid the iPad in a drawer. :rolleyes1

It took my DW about 5 minutes to find it. She is a fan of the ship board music. Pretty cool that Pandora has a station that approximates it.
