July 5th Dream

We'll be at the Country Inn & Suites; does anyone know if we'll be able to see the Cocoa Beach fireworks from there?

We plan to make a grocery stop en route from the airport (via car service) and pick up something for supper / snacks/ drinks there to eat at the hotel since we won't have a car to get to a restaurant that night.

We will be there as well and hoping to see some fireworks also! :thumbsup2

YAY!

I've just done my last Stampin' Up! workshop for the month, and only have a band booster meeting later this week. I can start to concentrate on the cruise!

FINALLY!:thumbsup2

Mom made it through her knee replacement just fine! I just got back from the early morning meet-with-doctors-and-wait-2-hours-for-them-to-show-up routine , and after one night she is physically fine, and perhaps she will head off to the rehab facility on Friday.

Now I just need my irritating brother to leave my home and go fly back to Georgia. Then I will be able to finally take care of things here and prepare for my trip in 2 weeks! YES!!!

Regarding location of restaurants near Cocoa Beach, what I tend to do is just go onto Google Maps and type in "restaurant locations near ...whatever city..". Then I usually do a satellite view and bird's eye to see how things look from the ground. I also check on Restaurant.com to see if there are any coupons, or the Entertainment book site for that area to see if there are printable coupons. I love coupons.

End of family beach it is then for our first Castaway Cay day meet! I best go buy something lime green to announce myself.

Is anyone doing the Stingray Swim that first morning? I think we are from 10:00 to 11:00. If my family is missing for a bit, that is where we are. Or I am at the bar ordering a nice yummy froo-froo drink. One or the other! :thumbsup2

I am also game if anyone wishes to meet up pre-cruise. We are at AKV-Kidani starting that Saturday.

I am so excited I have butterflies in my stomach. Gosh I love a vacation!

Glad to hear your Mom came through without any issues. As for restaurants, be sure to check restaurants.com you can get good deals there (like $25 certificates for $3!).
We'll be a BWV before the cruise, hopefully hitting the Poly beach for fireworks on the 3rd, and DHS for the 4th. (MY DD's 25th B-day, so her choice).
Picked up the photo matting for the characters to sign and some $5 disposable underwater cameras. (at 5-below if they have one by you).
It's getting close ! :banana::banana::banana:
It's coming soon!

We'll be staying at AKV-Kidani starting the friday before the cruise as well!

Yesterday's big project was making a cruise countdown chain with the kids. They have been asking us EVERY DAY - "how many more days until the Disney cruise?" One link comes off each day to show them how many days are left.
Okay, let's be honest, I'm watching that countdown just as much as they are!!! Yeah!!!

So glad to hear that all is ok with your Mom! I will go with you to the bar!:woohoo:

How FORMAL is the DRESS UP night? ON carnival and RCCL, my hubby only needed dress slacks and dress shirt, no tie or jacket.

Wondering how formal Disney expects us to be?

TIA!!!

Codyboy - "formal" can encompass floor length gowns and tuxedos to slacks and blouse, or some people just wear whatever. My family (ok, my daughters and I, not my DH!) likes to dress-up, but we don't wear full-length gowns. I take that back, on a 7 night my eldest once wore a full-length gown, but she had a dress that she just loved and wanted to wear more than once. If you have something that you like wearing that is a tad more dressy, this night is the night to wear it!

If I can get my DH into dark pants and a button down dress shirt on this night, then I will be happy. He detests anything but jeans and t-shirts, so dressing up is a struggle for him.

marhs, I have done the chain before when my girls were young, and we enjoyed it. This time, I have an erasable board and about 10 weeks ago, we drew 70 stars on it, and have been erasing one a day. Thirteen stars to go!:cool1:

I would enjoy meeting up with you Animal Kingdom people! Not sure if anyone has set plans on what they are doing each day, but I don't. The only things I am sure of is that my girls will, for the first time, have free reign of the parks to go where they want when they want, and DH and I will be visiting our dog at the Disney kennel. DH might be tired of my constant chatter by the time we make it AKV, and would probably enjoy listening to other people's chatter! :)

Thanks for the well wishes for my mom. If you have any to spare, I could use more.

The discharge planner called, and they want to send her home tomorrow, Friday! :headache: They want her to do outpatient therapy 5 times a week for 5 weeks. Um, I won't be home? And she lives in an apartment in our basement, so she has stairs? And she is constant pain and is on strong painkillers that I do not want to have to weane her off on my own (my mom has a history of addiction to pain killers, it isn't pretty). None of this matters, as my mom can walk the length of the hallway with assistance and a walker. Hello, mom is very, very stubborn! And on pain meds! And when they ask her if she can dress herself, cook for herself, wash herself, etc., of course she answers in the affirmative, because she doesn't want to seem helpless. But she can't do any of that!!!!

I am at a loss. Called the doctor office, the doctor that knows her and said he would put in her chart that she must go to rehab (he also did her hip replacement and had her in rehab for 6 weeks then), is now on vacation. His assistant is off today. Discharge planner wants my mom home tomorrow.

The discharge planner said that I may want to reschedule my vacation.:confused3 Sure, the vacation that we have planned for 4 years, the vacation celebrating my daughters' 21st and 16th birthdays, the vacation we need as a family because I have been focused on my mom for the last 3 years and just not fully "been there" for my girls, sure I am all about rescheduling that - NOT! Plus, our travel insurance won't cover this, as my mom has had pains long before I made this reservation. The discharge planner is an idiot. I would call her more names, but I am trying to be in control of my emotions at the moment.

And here I thought the next two weeks of cruise prep would be smooth sailing for me! :lmao:

Sounds like you can use some prayers! I am going to add you to my prayer list! Here is a cyber hug, too  you should make it VEry CLEAR to that discharge lady that your mom CANT do anything she says.....cry if you have to sometimes that seems to work.....let us know how it goes.

I will be sending lots of "pixie dust" your way and I so hope that it works out with your Mompixiedust:

I take my Dad to the Doctor's next Thursday and hopefully he will be cleared to drive as that means he can go home! He really wants to do that as he hates my sister and I waiting on him hard and foot!:thumbsup2

We will be at the Poly July 1st through the 4th and this is the first time we actually have dinner reserations which I am not sure we will like and my son and I just hate being on schedules. We like to just move around where and when we want and if we get hungry, then we find a place to eat. For the most part (and we usually go at crowded times) we have found it easy to get seated as there is only two of us so there are several left over tables for two when they are accomodating larger parties! We have no plans for the 4th except maybe hit a part early in the morning then pool time and fireworks on the beach. Dinner will probably be Captain Cooks and the concierage lounge! I figure crowds will be through the roof and we will be so looking forward to the next day!!

luvavacation - so sorry to hear about the setbacks in your moms situation. Praying it all works out. marhs - I was telling my DH about the "semi-formal" night this evening - he replies with "can't I wear a pair of dress pants and a shirt?" Hmmm...I suggested maybe a jacket as well...we'll see! He doesn't like to dress up on vacay either! I, on the other hand, love it!! Speaking of DH...he has just changed our plans...again!! We have just booked flights and a rental car instead of driving our own vehicle. I have had to update all my info with DCL to include to flight info, etc...awaiting word from TA about adding ground transfers from ship to MCO once we return from cruise. I need to update my ressie at CI &S too - no longer need the park and cruise part of the ressie! Oh, and one important thing...I still have to ask off work for the day of the flight! Hope that goes well! I did get me a few sundresses this week! Can't wait to wear them! Off to do some planning...
