July 5th Dream

Hi there Tequilamamacita! Welcome! And the more accents the better! I happen to have a slight Hungarian accent when I am excited or yelling at my children, but otherwise boring Midwestern accent here! Hey, I just posted with all exclamation points! Why not?! This is the thread where we get excited about our cruise! Exclamation points work well! :cool1:

I will try to answer some of your questions, but I am not expert so things may have changed since we last cruised, so please forgive me if I am wrong (and hopefully someone will correct me if so!).

Remy and Palo are adults only, 18 and over I believe.

You can either have the kids eat in the kids clubs if they enjoy their times there, or you can order room service or take them up to the buffet (forget the name of it on the Dream, but at least on the Magic and Wonder there was always open casual seating at Topsiders, etc.). Or just go up by the pool and get them some chicken strips and fries, whatever they like up there. My children always liked room service, because they felt so grown up choosing their food and then having it delivered just for them.

Since you are in concierge, I believe you can also order off the menus for that day and have those delivered from room service, too. I have never stayed in concierge, so I don't know about this firsthand, but it is what I have heard.

And congrats on the concierge and your parents anniversary! Have you let Disney know about this? When we when with my parents 4 years ago on their anniversary, our servers presented them with a pin that said "Happy Anniversary" and a special cake. It was a great surprise, but that was on the Wonder, and it was 4 years ago, so I am not sure if they do this on the Dream, but hey doesn't hurt to mention it!

See you in a few months!

Thank you for answering my questions!!
So once my kids have eaten, I can take them to kids club while we eat? Sounds divine!!
I am getting realllly excited about this trip:banana::banana: ( as in double banana excited so I think thats quite a bit!!)

How about the FE? are we out?

I am going to try and book us a cabana too. I think My parents will really like that!

Oh great, I need a new carry-on!

I went to see my daughter in Florida two weeks ago, and left my carry-on out, thinking I will start tossing things in it for the cruise. You know those little things that you think of during the day, weeks before you cruise, but when it comes time to pack you forget what it was you wanted to remember to bring? Well that is not going to happen this time!

However, my daughter's cat had other ideas, and pee'd in my favorite carry-on! It stinks! Literally and figuratively!

Now I have to go searching for another perfect carry-on. If it was hot and sunny outside I would just wash it with Dawn and put it in the sun to dry, but that won't be possible for quite awhile. If I forget something important because I don't have the perfect carry-on to throw stuff in, then I am blaming this cat!

And no more tasty cat treats for her either. I have to save money for another carry-on. Ok fine, maybe I will give her one treat, after all, her "mom" is down in Florida for 6 months, and this kitty sure does miss her! It is a good thing I understand how much the cat misses my daughter, other wise I would wring her neck! ;)

Sorry to hear about the carry-on. I guess kitty knew it was not going and wanted to send a message!:rolleyes1

I spent the weekend making Dinner reservations for our stay in Disney World. this is a first for me as we usually just wing it! Never had a problem getting into a restaurant when we wanted to as there is only two of us and those tables are usually available. My TA was concerned that a few of the popular attactions would be booked but I managed to get everything we wanted and for the times as well! We will spend the first night at the Spirit of Aloha dinner at the Polynesian. As many times as we have stayed at the Poly we have never been!:confused3 The next night is Via Napoli (our favorite Italian restaurant) and then on the 3rd Mama Melrose and the Fantasmic show (another thing we have never done!). We left the 4th free as we will probably be revisiting our park favorites and don't want to be constrained by having to be somewhere at a set time. Besides I imagine it will be crowded everywhere so we may just eat back at the hotel -- we are in concierge so there will be snacks all day! Not a good way to diet before the cruise.:rotfl:
Now if July would just get here!:yay:

Hi Mary,

since concierge cabins are behind a gate I don't know how we will have access to drop things off. I don't know if there will be a cast member stationed anywhere so we can drop things off that way. I'll start a thread on the general cruise forum and see what responses we get.

Yeee Haw! I am getting so excited, my kids have no idea yet. Anyone have any great ideas on how to surprise them... I was thinkinf maybe get them some Disney autograph books. We have been watching Dis movies each weekend for a while....

Your children don't know about the cruise? Oh, surprising them will be so much fun! I can't do the surprise trip thing anymore, with my girls being older and having schedules of their own, but we surprised them about 8 years ago, and telling them was one of the things I was most looking forward to!

At the time, we had decided to stay at Disney for two days, then told our girls we were going to be at the beach for a few more days. They like the beach, so it was all good, and this was the vacation they had been told about for months before (and we were going to a couple of nice restaurants while at the beach, so we needed nice clothing - that was how I managed to pack our dinner outfits!).

When this all took place, we had been on one 4-day Disney cruise (which took place over 9/11 so it was bittersweet), and one 7 day (with a SIL, so it was just bitter for me!). I had high hopes that this would be a great cruise!

As one approaches the port, one goes over a couple of hills. I think from the first, but definitely from the second, you can see the ship. Dream is bigger, so maybe you can see it even before then? Either way, when we saw the ship, I said that I had to video tape this, because it is such a beautiful ship. This is not out of the ordinary for me, as I like to record our memories.

At one point, I spoke to my husband and said how much I wish we could go on the ship again, and he acted noncommittal (again now out of the ordinary for me, because I am always wishing to be on vacation :thumbsup2). The girls then took up the call, and were asking their daddy if they could please go on the ship again soon, they were willing to pay some of their own money, please could we go again.

I told DH, videotaping here and there, that we were a little early to check in to our hotel on the beach, how about we just drive by the ship to get some good video? He agreed, so we drove into the port, and into the arrival line. My eldest (13 at the time, thinking she knew everything) thought we had made a mistake and was telling us very vehemently we were in the wrong line, and DH and I were acting like we were trying to figure out how to get out of the line. Just before we had to show our documents to get into the DCL area, I told them we were not going to the beach, we were going on the cruise instead. Oh the happy shrieks, all caught on tape of course! We had to explain to the guy looking at our documents why the girls were jumping up and down in their seats and screaming, and he thought it was just the greatest thing!

I kept that cruise a secret for over a year, I about burst at times because I just wanted to have my girls get all excited with me whenever I was making plans, but not telling them until we got to port was truly one of our best family memories.

And I have made them promise that someday they must surprise me in such a way, too!

Hi Ya'll!!

Yes, I used my very Southern accent - it's all I have! :cutie: I am so excited - 90 days until we cruise!!!!! :dance3: Online ressies begin tonight for silver CC members - which is me - and I am so excited. Bet you couldn't tell! I am using exclamation points too - they are so much fun! Anyway, I am hoping I can book High Tea and brunch at Palo. :surfweb: If not, I will try when we board. I have decided against the cabana - just can't justify that much $$ right now. pirate: Who knows, maybe I can talk DH into it between now and then! :rolleyes1 We still don't have our room assignment - I checked this morning and we are still 8C GTY. It seems the ship is full, so I wonder where we will end up??? :wizard: Gotta run...time to get my hair "did"! Talk with later! Have a great day! :cloud9:

do you know what time you will try to check in at? Is it MIDNIGHT Eastern time?

Hey All,

I'm now thinking about flying in on the evening of the 3rd instead of the 4th and staying at WDW. No parks for us, we'll just hang at the hotel and DTD on the 4th. Does anyone know if fireworks can be viewed from DTD? If not we'll head over to the Poly or GF or Boardwalk.

Stitchy - not sure if DTD still does fireworks, but you could go over to the Poly and hang on the beach and watch the ones at the MK. Also, DHS has fireworks that night (the only time they do) and they might be visible from DTD.
We'll be at WDW before the cruise as well. See you there or on the boat! :woohoo:

Thanks for the info. I like the Poly idea. I had no clue about DHS-that's cool:thumbsup2

I asked this question on the cruise line main thread and the answers I received were yes, midnight, Eastern time. Good luck to us all!!;)

Good luck to all. I hope when my 75 day mark hits there is still room to swim with the dolphins and jet ski!!!

I'll be on there too, trying to book a Palo dinner for the ?????. No, I'm not telling. Someone might get my ressie!

LOL, just kidding. We are trying for the last night. May try for the brunch, but the only one I really want is Palo. No excursions, no spa, (but I do want a Rainforest Pass.)

Anyone coming over here to post what they got tonight? And are we gonna have a meet somewhere on board? Y'all sound like so much fun!

Good luck to everyone booking excursions and ressies tonight!!!pixiedust:

Here is the link to Gradysmommy on EBAY she does incredible work and will customize colors, icons, whatever you'd like.

Mine took about 4 weeks and was well work the wait. The price includes shipping and is $30 for a two pocket and then goes up based on the number of pockets. You can email her with any questions and if you need suggestions she's good at that too:thumbsup2

I think Princess Bette??? asked this on the main meet thread and didn't really get a response. Im up for it but have no desire to organize it since it's my 1st cruise I'd have no clue what to do. With me in charge we could end up in some trouble:rolleyes1
