July 5, 2011 - Mickey's WONDERful Alaskan Adventure

[QUOTE="Got Disney";40711336]Hi all...hope ya dont mind but I read all the Alaskan threads to see what great info everyone is posting...:thumbsup2 I am on the July 19th cruise.

Saw this post so thought I would let it be known that I called the Bering Sea Crab and they said that the excursion starts at 4 and ends at 7:30.....she said that they are only a ships length away and that everyone walks to and from the ship. Also if you have friends that decide that they want to go on that excursion and it fills up through DCL that they hold back 30 seats for other passengers and they will also take DCL pasengers that book on their own along with the ones that book through DCL.

It is also cheaper. This is how I am doing it. DCL will have no problem making up the time they are late...and the ship will not sail without you as long as you are with them. Have a great cruise. :thumbsup2

Here is the tread I am on and I have posted lots and lots of info on page #1 first post if you want to look and see if anything interests you. :)

Thanks Robin!

Has anyone started planning what they are doing before/after the cruise?

We're coming in to Vancouver on Saturday. We're looking to do two day tours. One day to Victoria, still not sure on the other. What is everyone else doing?

We are just coming in the day before also. We thought we would hit Science World with the kids and just walk around a bit.

We are coming in on Saturday July 2nd like Mary and Mark. We want to be relaxed and adjusted to the time change when we leave for our cruise. I think we may tour the olympic village and haven't discussed what we might do on our travels. The suspension bridge has gotten rave reviews from my sister who went to Vancouver last summer.

Planning is half the fun right? :cloud9:

You got it! We're looking at Vancouver like it was a port stop. Since we've already booked our Alaskan excursions we're now trying to figure out what to do in Vancouver.

We're coming in on Sunday, although we haven't received our times from Disney yet, so I don't know if we'll have any time to explore that day. On Monday, we're headed out to the suspension bridge, after that, we're not sure. Since we booked the air through Disney, we thought we would go out a few days ahead of time to make sure we didn't have any stress the day of the cruise. Been there, done that once, and won't do it again. That was the only time we booked our air through the cruise line, our first cruise, and we nearly didn't make it to the ship. I couldn't get the airfare any cheaper than Disney to Vancouver, so we decided to use them, but play it safe by going out 2 days early. Besides, we've never been to Vancouver, and wanted some time to explore. Just hoping that I won't be visiting the city of the Stanley cup winners!

Found out some information on other ships we'll be in port with:

Vancouver - we're the only ship leaving that day

Tracy Arm - Carnival Spirit same time frame as us

Skagway -We are in port 7:15 am - 7:30 pm
Carnival Spirit (2124 passengers) in port 7am - 9 pm

Juneau - We are in port 7:45 am - 4:30 pm
Carnival Spirit (2124 passengers) in port 7 am - 3 pm
Regent Seven Seas Navigator (490 passengers) in port 1 pm - 11 pm

Ketchikan - We are in port 1:45 pm - 7:30 pm
Radiance of the Seas (RCCL 2502 pass.) 7 am - 5 pm
Infinity (Celebrity 2046 pass.) 7 am - 4 pm
Amsterdam (HAL 1380 pass.) 7 am - 5 pm
Carnival Spirit (2124 pass). 7 am - 1 pm (so we see them leaving as we are approaching)

Brag away Lisa and let me know where you got your ideas! :thumbsup2 How many fishes do we have to exchange with?

around 30 i do believe. that is staterooms now people count. i am updating the list now to make sure no one has popped in the past few weeks and will email out to the ones i have email addresses for.

sorry for not keeping up with the thread. life has been very rough lately and my spirits for the cruise has been pretty low with the unknowns of my dad. hoping that now things are going smoother we can start looking forward to going again.

is it possible to opt back in to the FE? we backed out a few weeks ago as I was feeling totally stressed about selling our house and couldn't think of adding one more thing to my list. Well, we decided to take our house off the market and stay . So, we'd like to participate if it's still open. 2 adults, 3 kids (10, 13, 15), staterooms 5126 and 5127 (FE will be at 5126). let me know...

Yep i will add you back on.

If there is anyone else that wants to be part of the FE list please let me know so i can get you added to the lsit. I will need number of adults and kids (ages as well) stateroom number(s) and if you are celebrating any special occassion. If you can also PM me your email addresses so i can email the list out to those on the lsit would be appreciated as well.

I will email the final updated list at 30 days out and this will be the cut off date to be added. That way we all have plenty of time to make our FE's.

Thanks Tracy. I keep your dad in my daily prayers.

We havent planned any excursions other then doing salmon charter fishing in skagway on our own. Most of our cruise we plan on going with the flow with dad. He says he is stopping chemo two weeks prior to us leaving so he has the energy to enjoy the trip. so if we do any other excursion we will go with the flow and book on board at the time if its available then. there are a few i would love to do but daughter isnt old enough to do them and i would love for her to go with us to do them so i wont book them. she would kill me anyways if i did them without her..:rotfl: otherwise i have everything but the hotel on the coming home end booked and i need to call them and get that done soon before they get all booked up.

we are coming in the day before. i dont see us doing anything in vancouver unless we do it after the cruise. we will get in vancouver and settled in around supper time so wont have much time to do much other then walking distance in the area of the hotel before we sail.

Good idea coming in the night before. I think we'll have about a 4 hour time difference from Eastern time zone. I would be WAY nervous if we were flying in the day of the cruise. That and we'd be exhausted the first day.

We are flying in on the 2nd so we should be fresh as daisies! :thumbsup2

We are in eastern time zone as well. that is why we decided to go in the day before. having a full day of travel and boarding a ship the same day..sounded like way too much stress for me.

Where is everyone staying before the cruise?? we are staying at the Pan Pacific Hotel. Wondering if anyone maybe wants to meet up at the hotel the night before or not.

Thanks for taking care of the list. Sounds like things were rocky for you Dad but are getting better. I sure hope so. You continue to be in my thoughts and prayers.

One suggestion on the FE list which has worked on other threads is to set up cut-off and you must confirm by that date. There are a few names on the list that I don't think are sailing with us any more.

We're staying at the Pan Pacific. We'd be up for a meet but probably won't know until a day or two before what time we'll be back at the hotel. We plan on doing an all day excursion over to Victoria but won't book it until we get there so we can pick which of our two days have the better weather.

yep i had said 30 days prior to the cruise would be the cut off that way we all have enough time to do the FE's.

thats fine as far as waiting till right before we leave to plan something at the hotel. if anything, we can exchange cell phone numbers and get in touch sometime that day as well and see how things pan out that day.
